2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

I don't think I know the difference between wicker/rattan/raffia/straw/etc. I got all these bags this year, undoubtedly because of the lovely ones featured here.

I bought this on Ebay because I like the loose, radiating weave. I had thought it would be bigger, but it's not really big enough to use as a tote. So I take it to the weekend farmers market filled with my reusable produce bags, and it looks sort of charming in my hallway:

I picked up the black bag at the consignment shop around the corner, when I went to get my payment for some purses I'd sold them. I've never had a circle purse before, and it's interesting. I snagged this blue bag from my mom's sale for myself - it's interesting but really not "me" and I may bring it back to her when I see her next.

Apologies for the background. I also brought back my mom's cats; it's about 20 degrees warmer here than there; they're fur machines. There is nothing in this room aside from the throw that is not covered in an inch of cat hair right now.

I'm much more excited about the green Trim - it needs some care before I can wear it, but it's just what I'd hoped for! (ok, except for the gold hw. I'll live.)

It's also something like a third the weight of its sister in Clemence. Amazing! They are the same size, 38, but the green one is fairly floppy and the gray one not at all. Part of my "flat family":

What kind of leather is the green Trim? Mine is Fjord and I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy but light, and organic it is. Not stiff or plasticky like Epsom/Courcheval.

Hi ladies, I am fairly new here and wanted to introduce myself. I originally joined TPF in 2015 when I was at the tail end of a 10 year long journey to track down a Prada bag I bought new in 2005, immediately got rid of without using, and then regretted for the better part of a decade. At that time I had never heard of Tradesey or any of these resale sites and stumbled across TPF authentication thread. Since then, I have become even more of a handbag junkie but never thought to participate in these forums until recently. I came across this thread and was intrigued by the concept of posting photos by bag color weekly, as I just completed a renovation on my small handbag closet when I did my regular closet and was trying to figure out the best way to organize my bags - which ended up being by color. I was sorry I missed the opportunity to participate in that!

Given the number of posts in this thread, it took me a while to get through all of them, but I have enjoyed reading and it seems like you are a great group of women with similar affinity for bags and fashion in general who support one another even though you've never met in real life and appear to be from all over the world. A little about me.... I live in South Florida but have also lived in France, NY, St. Louis, Los Angeles, and Maui, but somehow keep ending up here although I really want to move! I am a single mom of 2 daughters (16 year old lives with me and 23 year old is an officer in the Air Force stationed in Wyoming). I love anything pink but sadly, neither of my girls is girly like that nor seems to care about designer stuff. I also don't have many friends in real life that can relate to my obsession. I am not exclusive to any one brand and don't have any bags I consider super high end like Hermes or Chanel (wait I think I have 1 Chanel) but I do have what I consider a nice variety of luxury brand bags (Gucci, Prada, Jimm Choo, Louis Vuitton, etc.). Anyway, just wanted to say hi!
Welcome! This is a great thread; we’re glad to have you! As @JenJBS mentioned, you’re welcome to still post for the color weeks. While we don’t jump ahead, posting late is fine. And if you’re inclined to share, I would love to see pictures of your renovated closet and handbag closet. I’m an organization junkie (I may or may not Google photos of closets just because and spend way too much time and money at The Container Store) and always love to see how others organize, too!

It still needs a bit of organizing but I will definitely share photos if you want. My house is older - I think it was about 30 years old when I purchased it and before I moved in, I completedly gutted and renovated it. The master bedroom and bathroom are spacious but the closet no so much for my liking. There is a walk in (not huge) and then another small closet - I think it was the 1989 version of "his and hers" but I call them "hers and hers". Most recently, I was using the small one just for shoes but decided to mix it up a bit. I think it is going to be a work in progress for a while so promise not to judge!

Mansur Gavriel Mini Bloom in black/flamma. I love this color way since it’s a goes-with-everything black bag outside, but fun, bright color inside to make me smile when I open it.

Had their Cloud Clutch in this color way, but it that’s just bigger than I wanted a clutch to be, but the Mini Cloud was too small. This is in between them, and a perfect size!

Jessie-Cat gave it the feline inspection -I think she was really just checking if there were any treats or toys in it…

Now to decide which bag will be the 1 bag out to balance this one bag in…

Know it doesn’t help as much with your pain and hurt, but we are with you :hugs:
It helps more than you'll ever know! :hugs::love:

Oh the leather looks scrumptious! I think Jes just has fine taste and was admiring its beauty. :giggle:
Love that you've stuck to your resolution all year (1 in- 1 out/ upgrading). Does that mean you've found your perfect number for your collection and you're trying not to go above it?

So pretty! I love when a bag has a fun lining.

Please do share! I would love to see what you’ve done. And no judgments here. This is a safe space.

I am getting ready to head out for the day but will definitely take photos when I get home tonight or tomorrow! On another note, I purchased this bag last weekend and would like your opinions. I am trying to decide if the gold hardware with grey bothers me. It did the first time I saw the bag bc I tend to think gold clashes with grey and silver would coordinate better, but then I convinced myself that it no longer bothered me bc the bag is more of a dark taupe grey and not a light silvery grey. When I hold bag up next to most grey clothing like charcoal grey it definitely has more brown in it. I never thought about getting a grey bag (even though I have lots of grey clothing) but I just realized I think I was drawn to this particular bag because it is similar to a leather sofa I have (attaching stock photo of both). I was obsessed with this sofa for a couple of years & used to go in to look at it every time I walked by West Elm but had no use for it since I already had 3 sofas - then I decided to convert my garage into a game room during COVID and bam - had an excuse to get that sofa. New dumb excuse: I need the bag bc it matches the sofa in my garage?

Anyway, I couldn't wear this with a lot of grey but I still think it would look nice with a number of things I own. Thoughts on the gold? Also distressed about what color shoes I would wear with this. I found 1 pair of boots I have in similar color but they have silver chains on them (have never even worn them anyway so not a deterrant).

I like the bag and the sofa. I usually like grey with silver too but I think this works.

Thank you! :flowers: Yeah. I need to keep my collection from getting too large.

I think the gold looks just fine…it is a warm grey so the gold works. Silver would too…it’s a versatile color. A very good neutral. I think it would go great with just about any color except maybe bright, vibrant pinks and purples and strong jewel tones.

Always thought Hermes enamel bangles were so pretty and that I would like one, but I have never had luck finding bangles small enough for me to not fall off. So I went in to H today with the kind of buying one and I am happy to say, though they have ones that fit, I left without one because I didn’t like how the round shape bangle looks/feels on me. Yay! Purchase averted! Though I did really like the Cadena Click, an oval shaped bangle, which was more than I wanted to spend so I said no.

Pretty bag! What’s your wardrobe like? I could easily see this with neutrals like black and white.
