2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Loving your 'weird' leathers

Weird leathers

I have quite a few suede: here's just one of my favourite examples, although I carry others more: Gucci Babushka, 1969 Gucci patent (horror of a bag, it literally melts, but hey ho) metallic BV woven Cervo hobo. Another example of weird leather - is stamped: Gucci Nice. Mirrored Gucci Silver Romy (I have a 'matching' belt except I bought the gold by mistake  ) with Patent Gucci Oasis clutch and two other clutches. Mirror leather Hearts Valentine's Boston. Liberty Iolanthe embossed red 'Boston' (just seen in the corner).

I spent a lot of money in may (Cartier ring) plus a the Tiffany bangle and new-to-me Lazy Leopardesses 90 scarf, I had to slow it right down this month. Most of money went on the dentist though

End of the month June stats:

Bags:
In 0
Out 0

SLGs:
In 0
Out 0

Everything else:
In Embroidered jeans jacket (unless I included it last month?) Not expensive.
Out 0 -

I repurposed bits of a broken high Art Deco 18K gold broken bracelet into a pair of drop earrings. It cost me £70 for 18K gold wires. That was all the expense. They turned out nicely and I am pleased with the way they look.

I found one of the Cartier rings I misplaced (I'd flung it behind the mirror). I knew I'd find it, but so glad I did.

I Love how you repurposed the bracelet into earrings. That is such a wonderful idea.

Some repurposing going on here too- only old clothes though. I altered a pair of nice black Boss mens suit pants for myself, then thought, that a "French" stripe t-shirt would be perfect to go with it. There was a very ugly never worn cream longsleeve with a turtleneck in my wardrobe. I almost threw it out a week before. Now I know, what stopped me. I changed the neckline, shortened the sleeves and painted messy black stripes all over it. Voila, my French shirt. For a change I´m really happy with my work.
I have the feeling I´ve finally learned how to alter pants well. Even before I checked in the mirror, I knew they fit!

Now back to dresses.... while sorting my room some really nice dresses I haven´t worn for ages turned up. I was so happy to have them back, only most are far too big on me now. Let´s see what I can do.

I carried 12 bags in June. I bought 3 Coach items at thrift stores. I'm probably going to sell them all, but one of them, a clutch, I might carry first. I'll count it as an in if I decide to keep it.
I should count mine like this. Maybe my numbers would not be so high. I only didn’t count one bag as it came in and the next day it went back out.

I had a lot of things I sent out. I still have quite a few things listed. I am also gifting a few things.

Good work on all the bags out (assuming you are happier with overall lower numbers). I went the other direction. :/

June:
Bags out: 0
Bags in: 1 (Kate Spade Year of the Rabbit Manhattan Tote)
SLGs in:1 (Coach Nolita)
SLGs out: 0

YTD:

Bags in: 4

SLGS out: 1
SLGs in: 2

SLGs net: +1

I now have 3 Coach Nolitas, which is 1 too many. I have one winter style, and 2 spring/summer styles, so I probably should get rid of one of the spring/summer styles. Nolitas are so cute, but I don't use them often enough to have more than one for a season. I hope to buy nothing at all bag/SLG-wise for at least a couple of months. I kind of have all bases covered now. Everything is not a perfect match, as both my life and my tastes have changed a little in the past couple years, but I still like everything I have. I wouldn't mind a true white or cream casual summer bag, but I don't really need it; I have a bone colored one now.

I bought to much in May, so I am quite happy with the way things went out in June. Your stats still look better than mine.
