2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Good news & good news

I am not a bargain hunter. I am not someone that can compromise on colour, size, variation or condition. So when price-rises happen

As you may know I was considering a new Cartier piece. Usually, I buy something every 6 months - a year. Then the dreaded twice-yearly price hike happened in April when usually it's in May, so I wasn't quite prepared (lots of dentist and vet bills - priorities). It thought I'd have add approx another 10-12% to my Cartier x Sacai ring.

I went (third time) to try on and put it against other pieces on my list. I'd even shopped around at other possibilities, other jewellers. I was blessedly relieved that price-hike didn't affect this particular line (or at least I didn't get charged it). After trying on so many nice things (some way out my comfort zone) this was actually the piece I liked best, it felt right. I have lots of Trinity now and can play with mixing them up in different combos. When my SA told me the price, I wasn't going to say another word, I just went  .

I din't post much fine jewellery on tPF, but I took a pic: #27 Also more info on the French x Japanese collab on that thread

One bag out
I'm going to work extra hard to find things to donate charity in June.

Congratulations on your new ring- or hand adornment. It´s stunning! So unusual and extra special looking to my untrained eyes. Wear it in good health xx

Welcome to 2023!

Welcome to the Resolution threads, where we support each other with differing goals and objectives, but with a foundation of loving the closet that we have. We encourage all of our members to look into the dark recesses of our wardrobes, lofts, attics and take the time editing, curating, refining, redefining or updating our bag wardrobes.

This is not a minimalism or ban thread! There are other threads that focus around bans and minimalist bag collections, so if those objectives for 2023 are far closer to your resolution(s) please look downstream, or create your own thread.

Please feel free to share your goals for 2023! We love supporting each other in goals.

ANNUAL COLOR WEEK BAG SHOWCASE!!

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

I’ll drop my own goals in later, but welcome! This is a great year to have your best and most wearable wardrobe!
I just want to say I’m so sad I missed the color weeks, but look forward to participating in 2024

Thanks to @Vintage Leather for starting this thread. Please make sure this one is stickied and this one is unstuck.

I made a big jump 2.5 years ago to a different but related field, I got a promotion last Summer and have really been really enjoying my job although it's a lot more work/hours. I want to continue to move closer to my longterm goals at work but our (UK) economy isn't good atm, so it's going to take a lot of determination.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the year brings for luxury and fashion, particularly at Gucci ( new CD - or no CD at all
:shrugs:
?) and at Burberry too with Daniel Lee. I feel there's a whole new vibe coming. If I buy anything from anywhere, I want it to be totally stunning and totally wearable/usable. I am still searching for the perfect dinner/tuxedo jacket and I don't care how much it will cost (so long as I can afford it of course). I am pretty happy with my wardrobe.

Since posting in these threads I've normally bought 0-1 bag a year, but in 2022 I bought 3 so this year I want to stick at 0. I don't do bans though.

When out for the day, I normally carry 2 bags. A cross-body and a handheld. My bag goals are to wear them (and everything) I already own. I don't know is I can say goodbye to some older bags, but I will try.

More money is going on my health, fitness and good food.
I know I’m super late but CONGRATS!!! I believe you said you work in Academia, but you would definitely thrive in the fashion industry! Your Gucci, Hermes, and Burberry collections are TO DIE FOR! Your style is so timeless and classic , you transition so easily between fashion houses! I have Gucci on lock, but no other! If things go well I will be starting my Hermes collection soon (5 bags I’d love, all Birkin and Kelly). I have basically everything I need from Gucci!

Great bag pic and congratulations on your Cartier ring! It’s stunning on you!

Knowing your amazing Gucci collection, I think H will be a great fit

Next challenge is going to be ridiculously hard. Least favourite? :wondering: :search:
Least favorite is hard, so I was thinking more along the lines of least used bag (for whatever reason). Mine would definitely be the trendy cc in light blue. Love the bag, but the color is the reason it doesn't get used much. To me, it's a spring/summer bag, and so it sits in the closet during the long fall and winter months, and I somehow get out of the habit of using it. Must use it soon and take a pic!

I haven't been able to take pics of drunken bags yet, but thinking there will be an opportunity soon, as the upcoming month and a half will be pretty busy with house guests and other events. Will try to keep up, but my posting might be a bit erratic, especially in the later part of June.

Same…I don’t really have a least favorite. I definitely have ones I gravitate towards more than others.
