2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 13 - Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

August 27 - Coach, Chanel

September 3 - Chloe, Dior

I think they're different enough, the Tempête is more formal, the F the bag on the right more casual-smart for the shoulder and then the middle F not only has shw but has a could-be-casual/could-be-formal quality. They are are KO with impeccable taste.

I wish I hadn't sold so many of my saddle leather tan bags, now I think I only have my Bolide and for Summer I love a tan bag.
Thank you, good points about the differences. The Joanne is more casual, and it's also the larger size and looks better on my frame with coats and jackets (like the Jumbo) so I tend to wear it more in the cooler months.

Yes, a tan bag is lovely in summer. Absolutely love your Bolide, it's perfection!

For brown color week, I have two that I really like. Polene Neuf in the full size in color Cognac, and Gucci medium Aphrodite in "brown leather" (color is 2316, I believe). I had been wearing Neuf mostly without decoration, but I'm finding that I prefer it with some decoration to mark the front, since it otherwise looks the same on front and back and I like immediately knowing which side the back pocket is on.

Its real color is somewhere in between these two photos, but more like the one in sunlight.

This is such a good idea.

I have too many bags really to do this but I could put up my personal colour wheel palate and put examples of bags next to. It's going to encourage me to buy the Saint Laurent eel SdJ though because I don't have anything in that spectrum and I know that's a great colour on/near me and I have nothing in that bright amber range
Is the color wheel idea something you do on a computer? Is the image shareable, or more so your own mental visualization?

Just find a lifelike colour pic of yourself (pref in daylight).
Upload into middle and make sure you get the middle colour of hair, eyes, and skin stone. It will find your 'season' (if you want)
Or you can ask it to analyse a colour wheel from the palate of any picture
You can substitute colours later if wearing something or in front of something that's not working

I'll be using this homemade bag today, so I thought I would share it for the week of blue & indigo bags.
I hardly used this bag because I thought it was too plain, but I think this flower charm makes it way more interesting and less boring.View attachment 5759188
It's adorable!
So today I went back to the DC boutique just to see if they had any of the scarves I was admiring and I had a MUCH better experience. The SA was super enthusiastic about scarves and taught me some folding, helped drape them on me, etc. I think I have ‘found’ my Hermes SA lol.

Today I was able to try this on - in a different colorway than the one I want, but it was educational. It was still difficult to imagine it in the other colors tho. When tied in a very classic way, I.e. fold to the center to elongate and have a simple crossover in front, I struggled to get the patterns to lay out in a way that didn’t seem random. Should have taken pics.

I feel like wearing this scarf like this would allow the design to show

The biggest winner that I didn’t walk away with was this 140cm shawl. It’s one of the cashmere blends I think, so I would be buying it at absolutely the wrong time of year. But I LOVED it.

I'm so glad you had a great experience!
This GTN is stunning on you!
I was having a nice day out but then had quite a horrific incident, getting almost knocked down by an off-road motor-bike. However, I am still alive so I'll post my brown bags.

Brown is boring but then I must be too because I love them

Gucci Suede half-moon hobo (one of Gucci's original break-through bags)/Gucci Bamboo Ring Half-moon
Vintage brown bags - sadly I sold 1940s the Florida alligator box bag and the large alligator (just seen standing uo) I still have the M&W lizard and the baby croc.
Vintage buckle bag
H Box Plume 28
1970s patchwork snakeskin/skin bag
1930s croc and sterling silver clutch
H Travel Web 1923 Bolide (traveling!)
Gucci croc/pony/polished leather Secret (I love this bag)
Gucci 1960s croc bag (amazing croc example)
Paul Smith ostrich Holdall (purple suede inside)
H PP Bolide 35

I also have a brown leather Sonia Rykiel Domino bag with BIG brass hw, Large Chloe Bay and many others. I can't believe I dot have more tan bags actually :wondering: I sold a beautiful '70s saddle bag I shouldn't have due to my one in/one out rule :shucks:

ohmigosh - I'm glad you're okay!
And - may I just say - You have the most amazing brown bags!! :panic:

Our brindle pug looks triggered
(They only had the ears on for a moment, and were very focused on the treats in my hand)
bwahahaha - so CUTE!!
Gorgeous - I like how some are more casual and some are more polished!

Looking at this picture, I have to wonder if there's a bit of overlap or similarity here, but I do love these brown bags. If I had to let one go, it might be the Joanne flap (not that I am thinking of doing that).
I have a few other brown bags -- the Jumbo in dark brown, and some D&B florentine bags. Will need to assemble them for a group pic later this week.
GAH - that Boxyz is gorgeous!
My browns. Same as last year.
These 3 are rare vintage Coach, made in the 60s and 70s, the pride of my collection.

The two on the left are vintage Coach but not as rare as those above. The one on the right is Dooney & Bourke.

More recent Coach, ranging from 2012 to 2007.

My only taupe bag. Not a color I would usually be drawn to but this one has a hint of purple. I haven't carried this one in awhile. I bought it partly because I thought the cloth strap would be more comfortable than leather but it is hard to keep clean. I'm considering chopping it off and getting a replacement strap but I think it will be hard to find something matching or coordinating.

Your vintage Coaches are such a pleasure to see - they are so well made!
Two beeyouteeful bags!

oooo The Poleen is so cute! I think your idea to add a lil somethin' to the front is an excellent and cute idea!

Welcome to the family Voyage!

After much deliberation, I have checked another bag off the wishlist.

I have been wanting a green bag for a while now and fell in love with the Moynat peacock color. I love how it has some blue in it and changes depending on the light.
Just had a hard time deciding on the bag.
The voyage grew on me. I love the clean lines and simple closure.

Got it from the private sale for 30% off so that definitely made decision making easier lol :P

Still within my 2 bags a year or 1-in/1-out policy.
Debating if I should whittle it down to 1 bag a year since I’m much pickier now and am willing to shell out more for a single bag.

Sharing my pink and blue bags late but at least as of tomorrow I’ll be caught up and ready to show green.

My pinks. I could probably have an entire closet full of pale pink bags, if I had PowerBall money.

And blue - going to count my Coach Marlie as blue instead of green. It’s teal, or more truthfully ocean blue so it fits. Blue is not a handbag color I gravitate towards.

Love the Polene Nuef as well. What size is that?

Last year I purchased the Tory Burch Fleming (lovely leather)

This year - as in on Saturday - I purchased this cute saddlebag at a local leather store Howl & Hide. It’s finally the color I’ve been searching for!

Beautiful bags! I love your new one. You have been looking for that color for quite some time.
