2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Wear it when you are tan or with a brighter mousseline that complements the gray lavender or uses that tone as an accent ?

@Jereni, I love that CSGM  Glad you found a nice SA

ETA: I evaluate scarves by the design along the center bias. I don’t buy any unless I love them so much I’m willing to wear them out of the store.

Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I don't really tan. I actually have a high colour and there are only a few colours/shades/tints that look off on me. No one should actually wear their shadow colours IMO. I have a picture of me at about 12 wearing a beautiful silk silver-grey-lilac blouse, and I look like a ghost, everyone comments on it, it's actually very scary.

That dress must have been a knock-down price, I don't know why I would have ever bought it otherwise. Grey is OK, lavender is OK, but greyed-lavender is really awful (on me). But it's an interesting journey. Last year, I turned an, as yet unworn, light beige beaded Etro skirt into a caramel one with tea, and that went quite well, and I've been wearing it since.

My philosophy is that no garment in any wardrobe should be trouble. The dress is very beautiful, just the wrong colour and unlike bags I can change it so I probably will.

You shouldn't have to try too hard with any scarf, even random should be beautiful (like Theatre Nouveau looks on you - lovely).

I love those speeded-up scarf tutorials where the lady makes a scarf dextrously into a flower-tortoise in 30 secs. I'm up for work at 5am and out the house by 6.30, my (laughingly called ) makeup takes no more than 5mins (if I have 5 mins) I'm not thinking "time for scarf-origami and I need to make sure the patterns in right place", I'm thinking "take a scarf coz I don't want to chill" and it's chuck-on presto.
Right there with you! In case my tumbling mane of hair was not the tip off…LOL

I was having a nice day out but then had quite a horrific incident, getting almost knocked down by an off-road motor-bike. However, I am still alive so I'll post my brown bags.

Brown is not boring, it is classy. I am very glad you are here after your fall. That had to be quite frightening.

Love your brown collection, but hope you are not too shaken up. those things are a menace.

Thank you!

I was shaken after. Then I reported the incident to the Police (that can confiscate the bikes (Section 59 - I know my law :D). Then I called DH who's the other side of the country atm - I woke him up from a nap LOL.
Unfortunately, the sun was so bright that the screen wasn't visible on my phone, so I couldn't unlock it fast enough and do a vid of the bike. There are lots of elders/children and animals there, it's just so reckless and selfish. It's even coming-up to nesting season for the swans.

I feel you. I nearly was is a car accident yesterday and my heart was pounding! Glad you’re okay.

The kids in my area all have electric bicycles that go so fast! They just zip across the street without a second thought (no helmet). I always have to do a double take at every stop sign now.
They don’t need to make electric bikes to go that fast. And some of these parents need to teach their kids some discipline/common sense.

OMG, I'm so sorry to hear that, I'm glad you're OK too :hugs:

The sidewalks/pavements are a free for all, and I totally agree about the electric bikes, way too fast (extend that for mobility chairs)

Love brown bags too! You have a beautiful brown bag collection!
Glad you're okay, that had to be so scary! Sidewalks need to be safe for pedestrians -- as the weather warms up here, there are lots of little kids, elderly people and animals about in my area too.
