Hmm, overall thoughts.
I think I’ll pass for this year. A neutral color is fine for people who have a lot of the colored stones. But personally, for my neutral jewelry, I reach for diamond/gold pieces. I don’t need a stone that’s gray, when I can go for solid platinum or white gold instead.
I think this could be a great substitute for gray mother of pearl, since it’s slightly more durable. And it features a diamond, which is always nice.
I think the silver obsidian photographs poorly. It also seems to not present well from a distance. It still has some contrast, but not as much “pop” as onyx. The slight sparkly texture is nice, but it’s not as interesting a texture as you see in marble, malachite, pietersite, or mother of pearl. The obsidian’s texture is also not as smooth as agate, onyx, or carnelian, where the surface shines cleanly in the light with a large reflection.
I think this piece is good to get if you don’t have a relatively neutral rose gold pendant in your jewelry collection. Otherwise, I’m eh about it.
