:panic: OK... See... this is why I need to stay on this thread like a dry drunk at a 12 step program.

I’ve seen two more bags I want to get that break my “rules of acquisition.” Staying strong but barely.

On another note, I need another card holder. I’ve sold off the ones I wasn’t crazy about and need a black one and a neutral one (perhaps) grey. I don’t like preloved SLG’s so I need to bite the bullet and head to a store. Ugh!
Sparkle, I have a cheeky and very inexpensive suggestion for you. Seeing the style of the studded Diorama you picked, I think you’d like this little limited edition eyeshadow palette from Dior... the colour tray pops out and you can use it as a card holder!

Not sure how it will hold up, since it’s probably not leather but it’s very pretty and cheap as chips. It might satisfy the craving for something new.

Yesterday I saw a necklace in the shape of a cross I really liked. It was all bezel set diamonds together that form a cross in yellow gold. Then I also saw a single diamond also bezel set on a necklace. Suddenly I am noticing jewelry again. Dh is religious and would buy the cross .
Are you religious / would you enjoy wearing it? Even if you aren’t religious many people wear crosses as fashion statements.
Hi all!!! Another year is coming to an end. It’s always been an amazing ride with you ladies - I haven’t been able to be as active in this year’s thread as much as I would have liked, but I love popping in and still seeing everyone cheering each other on! I’ll be starting 2019’s thread soon and look forward to old and new members, and everyone’s new 2019 resolutions!

For 2018, I wasn’t able to not buy any bags or slgs, but I did manage to reach my target of letting go 10 from my collection; also, everything I purchased has been put to good use! My very first purchase of 2018, has not left my side since I bought it in January - the only piece that I’ve used every day, for almost a year! That in itself amazes me haha. I definitely know it was a good buy. View attachment 4282227

Has everyone started thinking about their goals for 2019? I’ll be back later today to start the new thread, and can’t wait to see all the resolutions roll in!
Congrats on your sales and in wearing your bags well! I need to check my goals and see how I did!

LOL! Love it! I’m not big on lots of makeup so this would go to waste. That being said, I do buy most of my makeup from Dior.

I took the day off to go to Hades... I mean the mall. There are just some things I need and online shopping isn’t solving all my problems.

I asked one of my shopaholic friends their advice for finding new brands / stores to try and she had some advice that struck me as logical but kinda snarky. She said that if she goes into a store and the other customers aren’t dressed like she likes it’s a sign to her to turn around and leave.

I drink about this. I am not in typical Sparkle wear right now. I’m in sneaks, jeans and a sweater...because I’m shopping. Not at an event.

What do you ladies think of this?

I was on my way to the shop and went for it. I rarely buy jewelry but Dh said if I want it he would get it. An another necklace I was looking at was already gone. So now I wait till Christmas.

I don’t judge people by what they wear. I go by how they treat others. Though I kind of understand what she means. Like if most of the people are wearing belly shirts and hot pink heals it might not be the clothing store for me. Though I have found little treasures in the strangest shops.

Well, I agree with you that it's a tad on the snarky side! If I'm in a store to shop, I look at the things I'm shopping for. I honestly don't look at the other customers... though I will say I do look at the way the SAs carry themselves. Not so much what they wear, but whether they look tidy and presentable. Which they usually are, but there was one major exception...

A few years ago The Hubster and I were going to be in San Francisco, and I had my eye on a Proenza Schouler bag. I wanted to try it IRL, since I wanted to test the weight, so I called Neiman Marcus the prior week and made an 11AM appointment with an SA to see that bag, in the color I wanted. Well, we arrived, and she met us looking as though she had just rolled out of bed. Hair sticking up every which-way, yesterday's makeup caked all over her face, and so on. And she wasn't a kid, either... she was easily in her 40s. She was rude, too. She kind of threw a bag at me, NOT in the color I had requested, and marched off. Needless to say, her appearance/attitude put me off the bag, and we left without making the purchase.

Too bad, because I was really all set to love the bag. But since then whenever I go to the PS web site, I think of that grubby SA, and I just can't get past it! Yuck!

I think it was @ipsum who just asked about buying duplicates when you don’t want to spend the money on the item that first interested you. I don’t do that with bags but I’m thinking I may do that with a pair of shoes.

I’ve wanted these Gucci glitter sneaks since they first came out. But I can’t stomach the price at $730. They would be the most I’ve ever paid for shoes and would be SNEAKERS!!!5B07AE61-695A-414E-905B-BF62658426F9.png
But, I keep lusting for them. I just saw these at Dillard’s. I know they are different but I it might satisfy my glitter sneaker lust. 8E6D6B01-CD7C-4DCB-B0E6-265EE10AD755.pngI dunno. I hate to spend the money on the others. But I reeeeeeaaaaally want them. My rationale for them is that I don’t own lots of sneakers because I don’t wear them often. So shouldn’t I have thr two or three pair I really like when I do wear them?

I’m not sure if I’d get myself in the pickle I used to on bags and end up buying them later and wasting money on the MK’s.

(One other concern with the Gucci’s. Do I have to “match” the blue and red stripe with my clothes. Would they be wearable with black, pink, green, etc?

I have a pair of Cole Haan gunmetal colored sneakers that I love . Have you tried them both on. I think in this case buying something similar is worth it. The minute you wear shoes the value drops.

I honestly don't look at how other shoppers are dressed. If you are looking for work clothes and everyone is dressed in their casual clothes, it could be that they are shopping on their day off. Maybe it depends on where you live. No one around here dresses up to go shopping. I almost always wear jeans to go shopping. When I lived in Dallas, a long time ago, everyone was really dressed up at the mall.

At a store, I look at the clothes they are selling. If they are the type of clothes I want, then that is where I shop.

I think duplicates are fine. If what you really want is glitter, there are lots of options. There are even some that are closer to the Gucci style than that MK. I would also worry about the blue and red stripe. I think I would rather have glitter sneakers without any other color.

Nah - I'm not really paying attention to what other shoppers are wearing (I mean I might have a "What on Earth Were *You* Thinking" thought based on something really epic), but that's about the extent of it. I do pay attention to the SAs though both in their attitude and how they're presenting themselves.
(But Sparkle! Don't drink about it!)
(Just teasing you! :giggle:)

And I personally would never pay that much for a pair of sneaks. I do like the look of the Michael Kors and @dcooney4's Cole Haans though.

OMG! I’m trying to imagine myself in a belly shirt and hot pink heels. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I’d have to add camo Daisy Dukes with rhinestone trim on the pockets!!!

That’s awful!!!! Salespeople do need to know they represent the brand.

For those kind of occasions I wear an evening bag that has a chain inside that can come out and be worn on the shoulder . It is not expensive but looks very elegant and goes with an evening gown. I went to DVF but they were sold out of my size in your sneaker. They had it in pink with other colors but I preferred the white and blue.
I like a chain inside a clutch too. Even if I don't use it, I like having it there for times I really want it.

Thanks. When I got it, I preferred it over the Prada version as well. Now, the slouch bothers me a little bit, but then I think, Hey, I’m the one always telling people to use their bags and that these things give a bag character. I should take my own advice!

I actually prefer how your bag slouch. [emoji4] It may look well-loved compare to Prada, but that’s the character of the bag and what make it different. And I prefer the casual, cool, carefree vibe that come with that.
