Having multiple bags is still new to me, but so far I like certain colors seasonally. I don't know why that surprised me. I go by which bag I want to wear/goes with that day. My wardrobe is simple too; so it makes it fun to add colorful bags. So far, I've only given away one bag.

Someone posted a beautiful set of little paintings of her bags a couple months ago. It would be fun to have a tiny painting of each bag and be able to look at it each night to plan the next bag. You could also print out a page with all your bags, but her paintings were so lovely. All my bags fit in a closet I share with DH, and I know which bag is which, but it would still be a beautiful thing to choose from. If I find her post, I'll link it.

Aww, cute little paintings would be fun. I’ve been using Stylebook, so it’s not as artistic or pleasing as art or actually seeing everything on display. I would love to get the dust bags that have a printed image of the bag on the outside, or even the cute dustbag labels with pictures of the bags.

Sometimes I wish I could downsize enough to have maybe 2-3 per season, which here is like hot and not as hot, haha. But knowing me if I purge all my bags, I’ll build it right back up lol.

I found it! https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/bag-ban-support-art.980806/ Isn't this a fun idea for an artist during a bag ban?

Your stylebook is a great idea! Do you have a lot of fun putting outfits together with it?

I've been in my Hawaii Neverfull for almost 2 weeks now. I didn't change bags since it's been pretty busy around here.

It's been a while since I've worn the same bag for 2 weeks.

Question for the group:
Have you adopted schedules or methods to ensure usage of your collection?
Or just go with the flow of your daily outfit?
How do you accommodate new purchases?

I have been scheduling weekly switches for my handbags to ensure I rotate through them, taking into account the season, what I may be doing, which fit for work, which are better for the weekend.

My outfits are pretty plain, so I don't have to think much if my bag and outfit don't go.
I wear what I feel like it at the moment. Nothing else. [emoji4]

My bag updates. I have 3 more outs for the month (2 bags and 1 SLG). DD is visiting and happily plucked the Monika Chiang pony bucket, silver evening bag and the Gucci wallet from my “to go” pile.

I decided to keep the Gucci Stirrup. I’m giving it one more fall / winter season. This is so irrational. But, I’m a girl and it’s a bag so I’m allowed. LOL! Also, decided to keep the Aldo evening bag til I replace it.

And, I got quotes back from consignors on my black Prada and they are dismal. Gosh, Prada seriously loses its value! So, I listed it for sale myself. Tempted to keep this too. If it doesn’t sell, I won’t be mad. Tee hee. :giggle: But, it needs to go. It’s a bag that is for a person I think I’d like to be. But, I’m not her soooo.... LOL!

With these changes, I’m down to just 4 more bags I need to list. Honestly, I’m dragging my feet because while I know they need to go, I’m having a hard time parting with them. But, if you asked me to wear them, l’d be frustrated. So away they go.
I think if you listed that Prada two or three years ago, the price would still be good. But now, it's kinda a pass now so of course, the offer is going to reflect that.

No set schedule for me. I wear based on mood and sometimes I pick based on outfit.

New purchases? It’s almost always the case that I wear them for consecutive days after receiving!

Okay, so my sister just confirmed that she purchased the Longchamp expandable long handle tote from the Nordstrom anniv sale. I requested her to place the order for me, with a hint that she could make it a gift for me for Christmas. Her reply - “Fine. But I will use it first before you arrive here.” I will be spending Christmas in the US. So she has a few months to use it, but I’m hoping she will not. [emoji16]
Congrats on the longchamp and your trip to the USA.

I've slowed down and haven't bought a new bag in over 3 months (but received beautiful ones as gifts!). I still have room for more. :graucho:

I would love to see that.

Yea. But, I’ve sold a number of bags that are in this range of 5 ish years old and / or that are pass their moment and haven’t had a slip in value this badly in any other than the Céline (which is even worse). So, I don’t think it’s the specific model. Overall, Prada bags (like their sister Miu Miu or Céline, Balenciaga, etc.) have relatively low resale vs. say Hermes or Chanel which is one reason I stopped buying the brand. It’s frustrating - especially when it’s not quality driven. Céline and Bal in particular have great quality.

I know it’s popular with some on tpf to say they don’t care about resale value but this bag is representative of exactly why it matters to me. I barely wore this bag and now it’s worth relatively little. So the cost to me by any measure - sunk cost, CPW, etc. - is quite high on a bag from which I got little joy. If the bag had the same acquisition cost but held value better, I would receive more to put towards a bag I really could love.

I don’t ever expect to wear a bag and get all of my money out when I sell. I also don’t expect to own a bag for years (regardless of wear) and have it hold all its value. But, I do want to buy brands and models that will allow me to maximize what I can recoup when my time with the bag is done. It will always be first “is it a great quality bag”, second, “do I love this bag”, and third “will I use this bag” when I’m selecting. But, the fourth factor of “does it have good resale value” is one I can’t ignore.

That all being said, I’m bopping myself on the head again :noggin: to remind myself that the most important thing is to BUY WELL up front. If I love it and use it, resale value is a complete non issue. If I sold my Fendi BTW today for a dollar it would still have been a good buy as I’ve worn it 48 times in the year I’ve owned it. In contrast, my second most expensive bag, my silver Dior hasn’t gotten nearly as much wear but, it’s my favorite bag so I’ll own for life. Resale is made irrelevant for both. So, as long as I stop being a dumb bunny up front, lol!, the back end will be fine.

I will say, though, this is making me rethink my move away from preloved. I think it’s just going to be a balance for me of new and preloved on a bag by bag basis. Some bags just won’t make sense (to me) to buy new and some it won’t make sense (to me) to buy preloved.

No schedules, I wear what goes with my clothing (today a green top, khaki skirt, scarf, tan wedges, green Polene). I also dress sorta plain - though I do wear a scarf almost every day - but I like for my purse to 'fit' what I'm wearing.
As far as new purchases go - I *try* to only purchase what I know I need or will use.
I think I need one more black leather purse, I only have the Loewe and it's still my most worn purse.
(Thanks to my spreadsheet though - I have learned that I don't carry it in the summer! Color me surprised - I thought I did!)

I actively try to stay out of my black bags over the summer because they get used so much in cool months.
