I am with you on the order 1. quality 2. love 3. will I wear 4. Resale value. My exception to four is if I will wear it for many years like my to American made Fount leather bags. I would never get what I paid but I constantly use them.Yea. But, I’ve sold a number of bags that are in this range of 5 ish years old and / or that are pass their moment and haven’t had a slip in value this badly in any other than the Céline (which is even worse). So, I don’t think it’s the specific model. Overall, Prada bags (like their sister Miu Miu or Céline, Balenciaga, etc.) have relatively low resale vs. say Hermes or Chanel which is one reason I stopped buying the brand. It’s frustrating - especially when it’s not quality driven. Céline and Bal in particular have great quality.
I know it’s popular with some on tpf to say they don’t care about resale value but this bag is representative of exactly why it matters to me. I barely wore this bag and now it’s worth relatively little. So the cost to me by any measure - sunk cost, CPW, etc. - is quite high on a bag from which I got little joy. If the bag had the same acquisition cost but held value better, I would receive more to put towards a bag I really could love.
I don’t ever expect to wear a bag and get all of my money out when I sell. I also don’t expect to own a bag for years (regardless of wear) and have it hold all its value. But, I do want to buy brands and models that will allow me to maximize what I can recoup when my time with the bag is done. It will always be first “is it a great quality bag”, second, “do I love this bag”, and third “will I use this bag” when I’m selecting. But, the fourth factor of “does it have good resale value” is one I can’t ignore.
That all being said, I’m bopping myself on the head againto remind myself that the most important thing is to BUY WELL up front. If I love it and use it, resale value is a complete non issue. If I sold my Fendi BTW today for a dollar it would still have been a good buy as I’ve worn it 48 times in the year I’ve owned it. In contrast, my second most expensive bag, my silver Dior hasn’t gotten nearly as much wear but, it’s my favorite bag so I’ll own for life. Resale is made irrelevant for both. So, as long as I stop being a dumb bunny up front, lol!, the back end will be fine.
I will say, though, this is making me rethink my move away from preloved. I think it’s just going to be a balance for me of new and preloved on a bag by bag basis. Some bags just won’t make sense (to me) to buy new and some it won’t make sense (to me) to buy preloved.

Well, I didn’t buy a bag today but, I bought some luggage and I’m just as excited!!! 
I found the backpack I need for travel which will eliminate my need for getting a “serviceable” black tote.
It’s the eBags professional weekender.
“Love” and “pretty” had to take a huge step back for function to reign. But it’s professional and smart looking so it works. This plus a crossbody bag will be perfect for short business trips or weekend vacations. Along with laptop, files, etc., it looks like I’ll have room for 2-3 changes of clothing, workout outfit, athletic shoes, toiletries, & a curling brush.
I’ll just have to make it cute with my Hello Kitty luggage tag. LOL! I bought a second backpack for Mr. S but somehow I think he’ll pass on the HK luggage tag.
Now, I can focus on getting a tote that is just a tote. Aaaaaaaaand, I think I found that too! I’m still mulling it over
but I’m probably 90% going to get it and it’s not at all what I thought I wanted. LOL!

Saturday we are attending a Bastille Day Celebration - it will be outside at a member's 'homestead' (please let there be trees for shade), and will involve drinking -uh- quite a bit of white wine with a catered dinner. I will be wearing something light and might actually carry my little geometric white purse for the first time.

So my Friday the 13th bad luck came early when I found out about my friend's death, still haven't found out what happened to her and feeling just totally shocked... Then today I was supposed to meet my best friend from college in Las Vegas and my flight was cancelled and the airline offered to put me on another one 24hrs later. No thank you! I'll be leaving ten hours late on a different airline, luckily I got the trip with my mom's frequent flyer miles and was given a full refund for the cancelled trip. So now I'm trying to get some sleep before getting up at 4am and starting the trip ten hours later than I was supposed to but oh well, I'm still going to get 48 hours with my friend so yay! We waited seven years to hang out the two of us so what's 10 more hours!
