ooh thanks for this analysis papertiger. I have thought about the Victoria but never noticed the handles..yes no rolled handle on a carryon:tdown:. Plus everyone has heard about my flat handle tote saga. As far as carry-ons, Last time I traveled, I tried to be cute with a large vintage Gucci carry-on duffel (vs. my trusty rolling Hartmann). Never again. :cursing:Wheels were invented for a reason.

LOL, thanks for the reminder! I’m going to visit my parents in a few weeks and although the visit will be brief, I need to bring a roller-bag carry-on. Too many back and hip (and now knee) issues to be schlepping a duffle!

Ha ha you know me well!!!

I have already bought an H bag this year (though pre-loved) and therefore strictly do not even deserve another bag of any description at all.

I had a need for an H bag to go from casual to formal, something I could use for work. The question was GP or DS and the GP won. However, through my research and the up-close admiration of 2 stylish friends' DSs I have to say it is more like the GP came first but I still love the DS.

The Re(belle) is 'another kettle of fish'. If it wasn't neutral python/suede lining I'm not sure I'd go for it (I don't do micro-fibre lining anything). I am charmed by the mini feline hw which echos both Gucci jewellery and RTW I have already and as someone else said it doesn't look like Gucci of the last 3 'mad' years (in which I have not bought a single Gucci bag).

I feel like a have enough structured bags, I want to go back to that side of me that does Modern vintage more (mid-century modern interior but wearing). My late teens were so stealth (and dark) kinda beatnik but really smart and lots of textures minimal colours and then POP bright. I even want to get back to the weight I was happiest at as a dancer and do yoga again. I need to not only get my life under control but look like I do too.

I'm thinking both the Rebelle or DS would actually fit in with collection, same vibe as say my beautiful python Catherine (looks a bit like a Bolide, but 40cm) and other minimal luxe skin/casual vibe bags. In a way Clemence would be a different skin even though it's bovine, the texture and the way it moves makes it luxe (I have not a single bag in that leather yet but I'm a big fan for the right bag). I know the Clemence is the heaviest leather, Sikkim leather is also very nice but I'd just like a chewy leather this time. Anyway, it's all balls in the air atm because as I said already it's one bag past my quota for 2018. I have some important-to-me (non-Cartier/non-VCA) jewellery coming soon too so leaving the Rebelle too long may mean missing out but similarly the Ambre-Gold DS is seasonal.

Everyone's opinions would be welcome.

If you weren’t in a different country, I’d be asking if you want to meet for coffee or a drink! :P I feel the same exact way — need to get my weight down (I was a gymnast and to a lesser degree, a dancer as well) and have the same feeling that I want to get my life and body back under my control.

Your teens were quite different stylistically than mine, however. I grew up in the preppy 80s, and have fought the preppy girl-next-door look my whole life. Coming from the mid-west, it’s like fighting your own DNA! A bag like the GP reads completely differently on me than it does on you. I love the slouchy-cool look of the DS but know that with the lack of structure, digging around for my stuff would drive me batty. And I’m not sure the DS is a bag that lends itself to an insert.

I love Clemence and think Sikkim is so soft and thin it will show the shape of everything you have in the bag. My Evelynes are Clemence and I love that they are substantial but soft and hug your body. If I were to get a DS, I would absolutely choose Clemence over Sikkim.

Would love to hear/see more about the jewelry if you want to share!

There was an Ambre and Gold on h.com not so long ago but it's gone now so sadly I couldn't post a link to show. I like both colours on their own (already have another Gold bag) which is a good sign. The colours together seem harmonious together and also different enough to think there is literally a 2 for 1 advantage. There is also a beautiful 'red'/Etoupe combo this season and although I have shied away from Etoupe, somehow the red warms the Etoupe from the inside and transforms it. The Magnolia (bright, bright pink) and dark blue is another cute combo for the right person so H has done really well this season in choosing combos. Some of H's duo colour choices have been quite frankly silly or really too safe (e.g. two, too close reds) for the bag IMO.

I was thinking about a Double Sens at the time of ordering my GP but went with the GP because I thought it'd be better for work. I made the right choice but there is still the  for the absolute right colour combo. Large very simple totes/hobos really speak to me as fundamentals and I like bigger H bags with less hardware, large H bags can be heavy enough without.

I had a crush on the Victoria (no shoulder possibilities) as I like it's shape, solidness and inside volume. It's fairly light (in H terms) and not too much hw, but the handles are too flat in the hand (I know that sounds stupid). Since it has flat handles there is the expectation it should go over the shoulder but it doesn't. The handles seem like afterthought. I really appreciate the work that goes into a rolled or padded handle, and I like a bag to loo great sitting on it's chair as well as being carried (and vice versa) and the handles don't stand up or fall down elegantly they 'hang around'. I also did not appreciate that Hermes did away with one of its details, it's very own luggage tag which acts like a very grown-up charm and gave the bag added character. Another cost-cutting exercise that ruined the integrity of the original design.

I agree with how you put it in both the observation on double sen and Victoria. I don’t get why they put so close colors together if they really want to make it really reversible. And why they decided to make a handles of Victoria at that length. I like everything about it but the strap drop. If it’s long enough to go over my shoulders, I’m sure I’d have jumped long time ago. I have everything ready, but they’re just not ready and practical enough for me. I thought the Victoria comes with the lock as it has the lock ring at the zipper? No? Oh... well... just another factor to keep me only dreaming about maybe getting one one day, which will only be in a dream. I’m only 5’4” and too clumsy to just hold any bags in the crook of the arm or have one with very long handles.

That would be great, maybe one day

I know, it's about feeling comfortable in ones skin and in control body and style wise. I know need to cut down on the carbs and do some hard core exercise. But then there's knowing and doing. I'm muscular but ultra-flexible the booty camp stuff is not good for me, I build muscle slowly which is why I do something everyday, I just need to do a little more everyday.

I don't see me taking DS to work either, and I use pouches rather than inserts so it should be OK. Not sure I see the Gucci as work bag either. They're both serious about ad about fun bags.

Thank you for the info and vote of confidence on Clemence. So far the only leathers I have are Swift, Box Vache Country and Peau Porc and that's over 11 bags. Usually I like smooth leather but that's for more structured bags.

Anytime you wanna talk I'm right here.

Oh vink this is so luxe! I like how the handles go into a sleeve. I seem to be having a minimal hardware moment. Is the leather buffalo? Is MM Max Mara?

No. [emoji4] The bag is from Massaccesi, an Italian brand that also do customization on their bags. There’s a thread about this brand in this forum, too. We call it MM after the designer, Marco Massaccesi. He used to work with some American brand before that brand dissolve itself, I think. (Guessing from what other ladies who are the oldest fans of his work talk to each other.) He offers bags in many style which you can decide which leather you’d like to use, what hardware color you want, any other options that doesn’t come with the standard model, strap drops, lining colors, etc. it’s fun and seriously quite addicting once you find the leather that you absolutely love. I do find his leathers and bags to be of good and solid quality, but I haven’t tried everything yet. This model is called Juliet and is made in Tuscania leather in color called cobblestone. I believe all the leather he offers are some kind of calf leather, but the way they get processed are different, therefore, each one appear differently and can have totally different effect on the same bag.

If it’s possible, I think you should get a python rebelle. I think the bag has quite an eccentric character and I think it’ll suit your character well. You have your own style which isn’t quite a conformist and this bag answer to that. If I were you, I’d get it. DS will always come out and actually not that hard to find. I don’t know. Maybe I don’t know Hermes well, but I don’t feel like it’s any harder to get than any other brands. Maybe even easier coz resellers are too happy to find you the bag of your dream. Well, but because I’m also one of those people who do not mind going through resellers or personal shoppers if I really want that piece. But for a Gucci and a design like that, I think it’s quite a bag that need someone and some clique to get and appreciate it. So, if you miss it, maybe it’ll be harder to find one later on and python isn’t so easy to find pre-loved in great condition. So, if I were you, I’d get the rebelle.

I’ve never been a duffle girl. They feel like the swing around my body if they have a shoulder strap and not me down if I have to arm / hand carry. Honestly, I like backpacks and roller bags for travel. Even a tote is frustrating. And one armed carry totes aren’t as good for our backs as a properly balanced backpack. But backpacks aren’t as acceptable for female business travel in some circles which makes me want to SCREAM! :annoyed:

LOL! On the Midwest preppy 80’s. We grew up in the same area in the same time. Add on all girls catholic schools through high school. That’s all probably why I recoil from preppy styles now. I just can’t. Plaid, twin set sweaters and argyle and I will never exist in the same zip code. LOL!

And, I completely relate on the effort to stay fit after being so active for years. I was a cheerleader and dancer so I never really had to exercise. Now I do or I become soft as a marshmallow and / or body parts that were in one place try to explore paths heading south. um...how did that get there? :whut: That’s why I was taking challenging dance classes. I was trying to find some way to burn calories / get cardio in and not be bored to death doing it. I like weight training. But, with aerobic activity, I’d rather eat rusty nails than run on a treadmill or take a yoga class. LOL!
Hope everyone has great day! Hoping more of my stuff sells .
Wishing you good luck from the purse gods that everything sells quickly and easily at the prices you want. :flowers:(Hoping that rubs off on me too.)
