Confession time. I have been thinking whether I should declare or not, but this thread is all about accountability, right? I’m happy with the bags but I’m not really happy with myself. This happens when I am able to sell some stuff.

So, on May 21 I placed the order for the Proenza tote. (Delivered on May 25.) But then on May 24, I could not help but avail of the preview sale at Selfridges (and I have Selfridges+ which qualifies me for free shipping on eligible items for 1 year). I have previously seen this bag online and it has caught my interest. One good thing about Selfridges is that for most items, it removes the UK VAT.

Again, the spirit is weak, so I succumbed to temptation. I thought initially of getting the oxblood since I love my other oxblood, but then I tried to imagine having it on my shoulder. I opted to get it in another color instead.

Hopefully my last purchase in a while! Mulberry Camden in Dune. She arrived yesterday, May 28. And my Mautto canvas strap works well with it for a more casual look/longer strap drop. As you can see, I’ve been leaning towards shoulder carry lately.

This is such a pretty color, and it looks so easy and elegant on your shoulder. I’ve been gravitating toward shoulder bags as well, lately. Not sure why. I think the simplicity is appealing to me.

Oooooohkay.....

So the bag is a no go. :frown:

As I tried it on, I heard @papertiger in my head “only buy what meets a unique need and / or is better than what I have”. Then, DD asked me if It was reaaaaaly what I want.

Sigh.

This is a great bag. Very unique. And a pretty color! But it’s not an upgrade or good strategic add to my closet. And I wouldn’t be giddy to wear it. So it’s going back.

Alexander Wang Mini Attica. View attachment 4082481View attachment 4082482The pros for this bag is that the leather is nice and it’s very roomy for a bag this size.

What I want is a mini Bal City edge and something cute TBD from Gucci or Dior . That’s what I need to seriously think about getting.

You know what? This is a really nice bag. The problem is, your other bags go way, way beyond “nice!” I think you made the right decision — this is a good bag, but it’s not enough of an upgrade to your already awe-inspiring collection!

You’ve talked a lot about the Bal. Maybe it’s time to go for that one?

Awwww! Thanks for the compliment on my collection.

I think I do need to go for the Bal. It will happen. I need to get to a store ASAP.

But, overall, I am now just super picky. Unless it’s a bag that makes me swoon. Or at minimum is purposeful because it meets a serviceable need like a laptop bag, I don’t want to add it.

I know I’ll be glad I waited when “the” bag comes along. But, right now I have that silly itch to have something new to play with. LOL!

@papertiger I don’t have anything left handbag wise from childhood. Some jewelry for sure though!

@dcooney, how many more do you have left?

@msd_bags, not sure if I’ll replace the Bally. I don’t know what would be a great tote to use as a personal item, versatile for use in the city/daily life, and be worry free. The Longchamps I have do all that.

I’m trying to get rid of big bags that don’t have versatility. So too big totes? Can’t keep them.

I love your Mulberry bag! I think it was a good purchase, but it definitely sounds like you need time to enjoy all the new goodies you’ve just brought into your collection [emoji4]

You are a lot tougher then me. I could not handle the kind of hot wear you have and look as fresh and lovely as you do.
This made me smile since I was the opposite of fresh yesterday!! I went out during lunch break to pick up my driver's license (renewal) from the satellite office at the mall. I had to walk from the carpark building to the annex building. There is a covered walkway, but not air conditioned. The heat index yesterday was about 40C. Gosh, I was sweating - combination of fast walking and the heat! And I did not know that my photo will be again taken for the license, I thought I was just going to pick up

I've been curious with this bag for some time. It's sad that it is a no. It has it's own edge. On the other hand, I'm happy with your willpower!

I’ve gotten more picky too. You’d think that would make the itch go away, but it doesn’t work that way!

A little over a year ago, I bought and then returned two LVs. The itch was bad, but I knew the bags weren’t quite right. I was mad at myself because I hate returning stuff, especially expensive stuff. But within a week of returning those bags, my vintage special order Kelly popped up on Trendlee. Then, I was SO happy I made those returns! :P

Spark, it's cute on the pictures, but is it really comfy in actual wear? it looks heavy (for its size) and i would expect the lock to bang at everything around, chairs, car, wall corners... it will either get scratched quickly, or leave dents on everything on its way, but most likely both.
Chloe Paddy was a hit some time ago, but now it looks dated and many users admitted it was damn heavy because of the lock. Your collection is stunning, regardless of my personal preferences i still can appreciate good and beautiful bags, and yours all are good and beautiful, and this one (imvho) does not reach them to stand by for comparison.
not that i am enabling, but Balenciaga is on sale at the moment... :graucho:

For me I think I may just have found the 'right' shoulder-carry bags, i.e., I may have found the styles that work for me.

Thanks! And I agree, I need to enjoy all my new goodies!

Carried My H GP ad Gucci Bright all last week and weekend too
Great bags, I love your style - you look so chic! Thanks for sharing a pic of your GP!

I owe @Sparkletastic a pic of my oldest bag in my collection as I found it looking for a dress to show another member. It's the one I've had for the longest time not the oldest in terms of when it was made (that would be a 1910s fully beaded miser purse followed by a 1920s Deco clutch).

The pink velvet and red snakeskin my parents first bought back from a trip to Italy.

Any of you still have really old bags from when you were a kid/teen?.
I enjoy your stories of style memories. It sounds like you grew up with strong style influences.

Congratulations on your new Mulberry - it is lovely and looks fantastic on you. Go easy on yourself, you’ve also let go of quite a few bags. It sounds like you’ve picked practical items you’ll get lots of use from.

I really enjoyed seeing your creations! Thanks for sharing. I think this fur one is my favorite! It’s so chic! You’ll have to share your impressions ..what was the inspiration? Etc.

Oh thanks! I thought I bored everyone with those! :)
I guess I just tried to get inspiration by whatever scraps of material I was able to find and salvage from thrift store finds and my imagination on what is the most chic creation I could transform it into. I dunno... Fourth pregnancy wild hair? (Is that a saying people know? Getting a "wild hair"?)
