@dcooney4, I don't think you're sold on any of the totes you're looking at yet. I think you should hold out for one that you love as much as your Neverful & Ballys.
Have they fixed this bag for you yet? I walked right bye YSL without peeking in after this happened to you.
Not yet. The first delay was their fault. I was frustrated that I had to follow up several times to get to a resolution. Ultimately they gave the me number of the repair place they send their bags to. No offer to fix it or shepherd it through the process. I didn't grumble or argue because I bought it preloved. :hrmm:

The second delay is mine. I have been traveling / busy and need to call the shop to get details to send the bag.

In any case, it's dead to me and I need a replacement. :annoyed:
I think some are the same type and others are different. I sold my large tan totes last year because I bought the neverfull. I also dipped my toe into color with the two Bally bags which I love and will keep. What I don't , one that doesn't shout logo . I will be doing a lot of outdoor things in places my neverfull doesn't want to go. Do to people with ice cream cones and dirt that vachetta does not do well with.
Agree. Winter weather can be hazardous to bags but summer fun - beaches, ocean, parks, outdoor festivals, etc - can be even worse. So I neeeeed good carefree bags.
I know this wasn't directed at me but I am def the latter.

I do have the (bad?) habit of (re)buying a bag I find absolutely 'perfect' and very 'me'. I have 3 Gucci Bamboo top-handles, 2 H Bolides etc. I also have an H black Box leather set and a Bambou set. It makes head sense to me to fill in the 'gaps' but also have fatal heart attractions to those that I'd most like to carry if I could.
I switched to buying by need (function + color). Before, I kept ending up with bags that weren't functional or a fit for my style.

I'm also an eager buyer of multiples. When a bag really works, I will run to buy its sisters. I have 5 Chanel SF jumbos, 2 Miss Diors, 2 Prada DZT's and 2 PS Small Couriers.

I ADORE the wine Gucci Stirrup I just bought because its so easy to wear. So, I'm hungrily looking for another. Same with my recently purchased gold Chanel Boy. I'm wearing the heck out of it and want at least one other in black. BUT!!! I'm holding on flap style bags. :-s So I'll wait a bit on that.

I find the multiples usually fill a gap because I need variety for a certain usage. So it works out well.

I was just looking in their window I will take a look inside. I don't want a pliage though. I was just in Kate Spade but the one I liked was black and the others were fun but to bright.

There's non nylon totes. There also should be a neutral section at Kate Spade's outlet. If not, move on! Not the ones for you. [emoji4]

This what they had in leather.

Do you like it?

Speaking of AMcQueen, I was in their boutique the other day, I was just wowed by the blue color they have for the Padlock bag. I'm not good at describing colors but it is really a nice cobalt blue.

I think for your TBD bag that will fit the bill for your upcoming trip, it should have a zipper closure for security. Especially if you are going to tourist places. When I was preparing for my last trip, I wanted to bring a leather bag. But then thinking about all the walking we would do, I settled for lightweight, i.e. nylon. We didn't plan on going to any dressy places so I didn't need a bag for that.
Oooooh! A cobalt padlock??? That could be the perfect replacement for my cobalt Kate Spade Saturday. I'll have to take a look. But, I'm also trying to avoid buying a blue Gucci that I saw. Argh! I love cobalt bags.

I completely agree on the zipper for my travel bag. That's been what's stopping me from making a purchase. Most bags that I like to replace the YSL are flaps or have some open / loosely closed top. I don't think I'll be anywhere unsafe but it's just smart to have a secure bag when traveling.

Honestly I'm just frustrated. I should have been able to take the YSL not be looking to replace it on short timing. :sad:I make poor buying decisions when I buy quickly. So, I'm very tempted to just buy something super cheap for the trip like a Lodis or PacSafe bag so I can spend time really evaluating and finding the right black bags later. I can always use the cheapy later for activities like hiking or spelunking. I'll have the LV with me if I need to look cute because a billionaire prince wants to wisk me away.
lol
i was thinking of letting it go, few times, and every time i was wearing it to see if i can take a final decision, and every each time i decided to keep it!!!
it's not very me, tbh, but she is such a nice baby that i just can't part with it. shame, she doesn't get as much use as she deserves, but i feel good knowing she is in my closet :flowers:
I think we're all allowed some joy producing closet citizens. :p

I dabbled into shopping totes last year when in fact I am a hand-/crook of arm-carry bag girl, but now I'm seeing gaps - the 'need' for some satchels in certain colors (for which I already have a tote). So I've realized that my priority really is satchel. But I still need the variety that the other styles inject into my collection.

In fact, lately, I have been thinking if I want my only yellow bag (I only have a few bright bags left other than red) to be a tote. I already have my Furla tote and in my mind I was thinking of possibly replacing it with some other satchel. I want to control the number of my non-neutral colored (to me) bags. This is the goal. Although when I looked at my yellow Furla just moments ago, I'm not sure I can let it go, at least not yet.
Maybe the yellow Furla is your happy joy bag. Wait a while on selling it til you decide.

I kind of fell into my best style / shape and it wasn't flap style bags as I thought. It's actually roomy, medium sized, non flap, hand/arm carry satchels. My second most functional style is shoulder bags. I love my flaps but they just aren't the most functional. So I put the breaks on adding too many more. The worst shape for me is hobos. I like the room and the look (gosh, I adore my Jimmy Choo hobo!!) and would like to buy another. But I can't easily find my things on them and it drives me bonkers.
My bag tally for April:

In - 2 (my Easter order of Massaccesi bag which is now in transit to my sister's address and the Fossil Emma Laptop bag)
Out - 0 (I'm not getting any sales!!)

I'm a bit hesitant to count the Fossil Emma Laptop Bag since it is for a specific purpose, but I think I should in the spirit of full declaration.
ETA: I almost forgot, I also got a Longchamp nylon document holder. There are many bright colors available, but I settled for black because I will need it to look a bit more business like.

YTD
In - 6
Out - 4

After I bought the 2 bags in March, I thought I was already good for the rest of the year. But then during our blue bag exercise, I discovered a "gap". So I went ahead to order a blue top handle bag because the leather is limited, I didn't want it to run out on me. Now I am feeling okay so far, I don't have any specific bag need identified. Of course there are many wants, but for now they are under control.

But, sometimes I feel I am cheating. Maybe I really like the act of buying? When I bought the nylon crossbody bag in Feb, I told myself it was because I needed it for an upcoming trip and it was cheap. It went into the count, but it lessened the guilt. And then this April I got the leather business bag. Again, a need. Or am I just branding it as a "need" to justify the purchase? I only go out of the office for meetings or other official business once in a while.

Unless I again identify or discover a 'need', I think I can go without bag purchases for a while. Ooops, I am going on a trip in June, can I resist??
I don't count business totes / laptop bags. They're really luggage, I have no choice but to own them and I'm in no danger of buying extras. So, IMHO I don't think you need to "count" the Fossil.

Most of us play little games with ourselves from time to time about counts and wants v. needs. I think that's ok. This is handbag play time / management not delicate peace negotiations. LOL! So we can fudge it a bit and long as we don't go overboard.

And I think 95% of the people participating in and lurking on this thread like to buy or we wouldn't be in an online shop-your-closet support group. (Or maybe we would. It's fun here!) That's ok too! Buying is fine as long as we actually do what we're all trying to do in our individual ways - be thoughtful, buy what really works and sparks joy and don't buy anything that causes hardship in another area (finances, relationships, etc.). So, don't be hard on yourself. You're doing a great job and being deliberating in curating your collection. You've figured out what kind of bag is good for you. You've bought ones that you use and love. And, you've parted ways with some that didn't work. Plus you are staying pretty close to your goals. Those are all great things.

Ok.:panic: I'm going to put on my big girl pants and take the advice we give consistently give each other about buying. I'm going to pause hard and only buy one of the blasted :cursing: black bags I need if I find one that really works functionally and I love it. In the interim, I can get a super cheapy to support my upcoming travel. Who knows, I may find the perfect bag on my trip.

But in any case, I need to let this sit for a minute. I don't want to buy something I'll end up regretting or flipping because it isn't right. I'll check back in to get feedback on options when I find them.
