i am from the Bal camp.
Balenciaga does fantastic bags of great leather, tiny hint - since you're looking for a messenger/cross body bag keep in mind denim transfer as the bag will be hanging and rubbing right against your hip, so consider darker colours.
Bal does fabulous array of colours, but remember, it's a slippery road

I used to own a number of Bals -- a couple of Cities, a Day, a Box, a First, a Twiggy, a Maxi Twiggy -- but I sold them all a couple of years ago when I sold off or gave away almost everything that I owned in order to start over. I like Bal, but I wish that the Chevre leather was available without the metallic edging as I prefer the sturdier leather, but find that the metallic edging is not my style. I need to see the agneau Mini City in person in order to decide if the size will work for me.

LV,
Please refresh my memory but are only buying new or is preloved option. Reason I'm asking is what about the crossbody Hermes saw several on AFF this week. Also have you ever considered Valentino small glam lock. It's right around that price point and gets rave reviews by ladies in Valentino forum. It's really versatile bag that can be dressed up or down.

I generally prefer to purchase new, but I will purchase pre-loved if that is the only way that the bag is available (such as the bag style has been discontinued) or I can't afford to purchase the bag new from the store. Are you referring to the H Evelyne TPMs? I had not considered a Valentino small glam lock, but will take a look at the style.

Would any of the bags on your want list fill this need? A budget of $2500 seems like a pretty sizable investment toward one of your dream bags--don't let the short-term needs derail your long-term goals! If one of your dream bags wouldn't do, then I say you should consider going cheap on your replacement, say $100 for something from Nordstrom Rack, and save the other $2400 for something you really want.

Other than a Rouge H Kelly, I have no dream bags that I have a hard and fast goal to purchase at some point in the future. I just have a list of bags that I would want to get if I had all of the money in the world and I could purchase anything that I wanted and I use that list to keep track of bags that I like and might consider purchasing in the future when I need/want to purchase a bag in that style or color. Does anyone else have a list like this? Something like a Pinterest board of purses that I like, but that isn't a list of bags that I have decided to actually purchase. Or do more people actually keep a list of specific bags that they intend to purchase in the future?

But if you are looking for a crossbody for concerts and sporting events, would your considerations be too delicate for the job? In my head, concerts and sporting events mean more carefree bags, but that may be just be me haha

For me, I don't think so. I've seen others carry LVs or other designer bags to the soccer games and I used to take my Kelly (when I still owned one) to concerts. Once I buy something, I'm determined to use it pretty much anywhere unless I feel it would be offensive for some reason or the bag style or make (fabric, brand, etc.) simply does not work for the event.

So, my question for everyone today is: Who or what has most influenced your taste and style? And is that approach most reflective of your personality, your career choice, your life stage, your culture or perhaps something else?

My taste and style is an amalgam of some of the members of my family, who are fashion forward, and styles that I saw in fashion magazines and on TV when I was growing up and liked. My taste is consistently pretty wide-ranging, but my actual, physical expression of that taste -- my style -- is most reflective of my life stage/career choice. For example, when I was a student, I had rainbow colored hair and wore a decent amount of retro, goth, and punk styles (I loved to combine styles). Now that I work in a conservative field, my hair is its natural dark brown and my clothing is generally neutral professional, but I still love rainbow colored hair and retro styles. I just don't wear them myself anymore.

I've had to put London on hold for now. Apparently most of my family will be coming here throughout the year! Haha.

If you could go shopping and sightseeing elsewhere in the world, where would you go?

(Where should I take my pocket friends this year?)

For shopping, I would go to Paris. I love the H mothership and other stores and have always wanted to go to the permanent Petit H exhibition. For sightseeing, I would go back to Iceland or go to New Zealand.

LV,

Yes I'm referring to the H Evelyne. I'm a Pinterest junkie so I have bag lady board. I just put everything I like or purchase on the board. I keep a list of my future purchases on my phone. This is tangible obtainable list that I actively work towards.

I have to report on week 1 color challenge. I opted for blue. But on the 2nd day of the challenge, i had to wear something else. Hard to divulge the reason here, suffice it to say, I had to use my Balenciaga Velo in anthracite (it has blue undertone anyway [emoji18]) on Thursday until today Saturday . So I might have "cheated" but I'm continuing on with the challenge.

Spark - I think no one really influenced my style, which basically is classic. I sometimes read fashion mags before just to get ideas. But what definitely stuck from my Mom are the no no's (then) like mixing colors and patterns.

Bake - if you ask me about shopping cities, I would say somewhere in the US since I am in Asia. So I don't have a recommendation for you. My main criteria is one where you can get great bargains/prices for items you like.

I have a Pinterest board for bags! Then a Pinterest board for what I do want to buy, which changes a lot. I love Pinterest lol

Paris is my favorite city......I would say Italy as I haven't been there yet

Before I forget, here is today's bag, my LV Tilsit (my color this week is black):

I actually don't do a lot of "brand" shopping when I travel, so take my answer with a grain of salt, but my pick is Florence, Italy. It's so stunning, and there's so much history there with plenty to do and explore. I'm an art and architecture lover, so the whole city is eye candy. I'm a terrible photographer (as evidenced on this thread, haha), but nearly all of my trip pictures were gorgeous. Florence is known for its leather, so I got some very pretty bags and my husband got a belt that still looks nearly new despite him wearing it every day.

Plus it's wine country. :-D

Wow, what a fabulous color!

This is fascinating. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the travel suggestions. Since my wishlist is surprisingly small, I am more focused on relaxing and sightseeing for my birthday.

I'll look into tours of mainland Europe as I forgot most of my Italian and can't speak a lick of French. Lol.

I kind of want to go to places that have a destination stamp at LV. So Australia and New Zealand are on the travel list too lol.

But the difficult thing is the little amount of PTO I get in comparison to my prior job. And with a promise to attend trips with DBF's family, I literally have one week for my birthday, then like a day or two to spare as sick days.

The joke at work is "more PTO, crap pay. Great pay, no PTO."

So thank you all for the suggestions! I'm pinning the must do, suggested travel itineraries for a week at all the places mentioned.

I might not get the haul I initially thought of getting this time around, but who knows. [emoji4]

I keep a list of future purchases on my phone as well. It helps keep me from "wasting" money on something and also makes sure I get the things I need for my wardrobe.
