I'm trying to plan an interview outfit for tomorrow morning, and I'm not sure what bag to bring.
Should I avoid all colors and stick to black and white for the whole ensemble to give off the most professional crisp look or will I look like a waiter or penguin?

I feel everyone else covered this well - it my vote is always for black and white ensemble, neutral bag and I always add a pop of color through a scarf. To me conveys confidence to me. Best of luck - knock 'em dead!

I'd say wear navy and a pop of color that isn't too bright.

Unless you're applying to somewhere super conservative, black is pretty boring and doesn't get you to stand out.

That's very true - I think the industry you work in plays a part.

I work in an all male dominated industry and typically am the only female applying. So by default stand out and let my outfit not scream too "girly".

I wait to get hired to really bring my femininity along ;)

Stunning!

Hmmm...I'm wondering if the challenges are "serving" you. We want them to be fun and to help us think through our closets. But we don't want them to make us grumpy. Possibly should you stick to your closet and handbag buying ban but just have fun mixing and matching to find new options. Maybe your challenge is to never wear a bag with the same outfit or piece of clothing so you have new combos but more freedom.

Hmm, that IS an interesting challenge. Even though I'm grousing about week one, though, I do want to continue the February challenge. January was not really a reach for me--I like to switch out my bags, so 15/31 was easy-peasy. (This is not to say I didn't learn anything from it, though--it was nice to have hard numbers to put to my wears to figure out just how many bags I really cycle through, and what I wear/don't wear.)

February has been tough, but I don't mean to suggest it hasn't been valuable. I thought wearing all black bags would be easy, since I have several of them, but in fact, it's made me really think about how I build outfits and what the elements of a good outfit are. I figured out I have a basic outfit formula for wearing black bags, and while that's yielded some great outfits for me, it's also making me look at other approaches. I went and planned my outfit for tomorrow for the first time since I was a little kid, and it really helped. Dressing a little better has been one of my goals for the year, and this is surprisingly helping me do that--it's just tougher than I thought it would be, so I need to respond by planning better. That's good information to have, too.

If it really winds up not working for me, I'll give it up, but I DID want to find ways to get more use out of the same bags, and this definitely fits the bill. I like your challenge idea, though. I'm going to hold onto it in case there's a challenge that doesn't suit me or teach me.

TL;DR: I'm complaining, but I'm learning.

@SuzieSueSure, here are the the pictures of my Cambridge Satchel. The green really is lovely--the pictures don't do it justice.

I like it when I carry it, but it's a little preppier/girlier than my usual style, so I don't reach for it often, and as I said, I find it tougher to match than some of my other colorful bags. I wish the edges were glazed, which would make it look a little more "finished" in my opinion, but the leather is really nice. it doesn't hold much, which is actually a plus for me as I hate having to search big bags, but others may find it a drawback.

I like this challenge! Since I carry the same bag for a week at a time, changing my outfits to creatively match my bag would work well for me. I could definitely do that this month.
My other challenge this month is that it's been (comparatively) cold here this winter... at least, colder than it usually is in Jan/Feb, and also wetter, so I'm really stuck in pants & cashmere sweaters most days, without the possibility of skirts. But I can always change up an outfit with a different scarf and jewelry, so I can make it work if I think it through the night before!

What a sweet bag, Annabel Lee! I love the color, too. Would you call it a leaf green? It's putting me in the mood for spring! :flowers::flowers::flowers:

I like this bag style and the quality of it.

But the buckles are too fiddly for me.

Same reason why I won't ever buy a Proenza Schouler bag, even though I love the look of them. Tried one in Neiman's once, and it took me a good 5 minutes to figure my way into the bag. By then DH was saying "This will drive you crazy... NOT the bag for you!" And he's definitely into my handbag collection, so he never minds studying bags with me, but the buckle straps just made him twitchy.
Such a shame, because the PS1 would be a perfect size bag for me, and comes in such gorgeous colors...

Yes!! The same with the PS1. Or any bag with too many buckles.

And if the buckle parts rattle! No no no.

Thank you so much! I love it and this is the exact color I was thinking of!

Last year it inspired me to find a green bag - my choice fell short so this is still on my list.

Thank you again Annabel!

I was calling it kelly, but leaf green works nicely. It's showing a little bluer than I think it is in real life--papertiger was talking about how Hermes bambou is really versatile and can appear warmer or cooler, and this shade does that a little as well. Oddly enough, I never wear this bag in the spring-maybe that's my first mistake? I tend to wear it with black.

They irritate me, too. If I'm just in town/going about my normal routine, I usually leave one side undone. But I don't mind a bag that's hard to get into when I'm in more crowded venues.

it's been so busy I've been just grabbing what's in eye-sight/current rotation.
I use 8-10 bags in any season and I change 4-6 for the next season.
In my A/W 16/17 rotation (and lined-up on top of my piano):

1. Hermes Gold ghw Bolide - smart and confident all day bag
2. Gucci dark Aviation-blue lghw (almost grey) Large New Bamboo Top Handle - another smart, and great all day bag
3. Liberty/Apple black shw briefcase (every - all work days otherwise I'd be changing USB sticks and cables etc etc etc)
4. Cambridge Satchels metallic silver shw satchel - markets, park, vintage shopping, carefree go anywhere bag
5. BV metallic Gunmetal intreccio Cervo Hobo - relaxed, smart casual, when I don't want to use a hand held.
6. Hermes Bambou (green) phw Garden Party - Local or city shopping, good for all day long trips
7. H BBK ghw - city trips, often with harder edged looks.
8. Gucci Magenta shw Interlocking - evening with wg jewellery
9. McQueen canvas stone shopper - perfect grocery bag etc
10 Gucci tan suede Soho Disco crossbody - good everyday little bag, often this is an additional second bag.
+
11 I also wore a black BV lamb knot hobo Saturday

Brand break-down for interest
3 x H
3 x G
2 x BV
1 x McQueen
1 x Liberty
1 x Cambridge Satchel

Even though I don't have a preppy bone in my body I have always loved these Cambridge satchels!! I've never pulled the trigger because I could never figure out the right color (I like so many).
I just read your comment about the buckles being frustrating. Sadly, that's a deal killer for me.

Winter weather really does create a challenge. I really want to wear some brighter bags but I don't want to risk them in the messiness.

If you swap out outfits, please share them here! I loooove seeing what people wear with their bags.

It would make a great travel bag! Durable, hard to get into, very under the radar.

And it's in a lovely green, whatever color it's called lol.

Don't just wear this with black! Navy, pinks, gold, browns could look great with this!
