I LOOOOVE that jacket- it's gorgeous!!! (It's not 'me', either- I own nothing like it but looove that one!!! I'd be afraid of its 'white-ness'- how do ppl keep white things in pristine white?! I'm pretty careful with cleanliness, etc, but marvel at how quickly my light-colored anything gets dark. (Could it be pollution-related?!)

+1- I'm finding it odd, that, in a PURSE FORUM, everyone seems to have a complex (or something) about # of bags!!! I loooove all my bags. They range all over, but I truly feel they all have a function. I dislike redundancy, so am aware of not 'duplicating'. I also live in NYC where space is always not comparable to elsewhere, so need to be organized. But anyway, I've only been on TPF since fall-ish, and I'm already getting a complex!!! (Because, I have no in/out system, nor am I on a 'ban', though I probably should be. I'm just 'aware' of my purchases... :confused1::nuts:... which is also why I love & appreciate this forum. I suppose they'll not stop producing/making new desirable gorgeous bags anytime soon...)

I also feel I should add that it seems my preference is for contemporary bags, according to everyone's posted preferences here, though I think everyone's premier bag collections are GORGEOUS!!!:smile: Maybe if I swap out ALL my current bags...
Enjoy your collection as they are. Don’t feel you need to have premier bags to show them. I love all bags and always love seeing more bags.

Don't let anything on TPF give you a complex. Do what you like and what fits your goals.

One of the reasons I like this thread is because we are all so very different and we all support that. No one says buy this bag or hold to this count or go on ban. We ask what each person's goals are and support them in that. Even if it's very different from our own goals.

Thanks dcooney!

Thankfully, although very seasonal, I still like using this bag. If I ever decide to let it go, I will gift or donate it, as the resale on Reed Krakoff is very poor.

He didn’t help his resale by making exact copies of his own things for Kohls.

I get diffusion lines to get people accustomed to the name, but he could’ve made something different.

But because yours is shearling, it maintains its uniqueness!

Don’t get a complex! If what you’re doing works for you, stick with that! I think some of us come up with numbers and rules (like one-in, one-out) and bans as a way of keeping things in control. There is so much eye candy and temptation here on the forum, it’s easy to imagine the buying getting out of hand, either in terms of money or just sheer numbers of bags.

Personally, I don’t have a hard number, and I count my premier designer bags as a separate category from Longchamp (which is admittedly a little weird, but it fits with how my brain works). I don’t like duplicating and I want use everything I own while still having enough variety to not get bored. I keep track of what I have so I keep recognizing A) that I’m lucky to have these things, and B) when something is no longer working for me. So I keep lists of what I have and make notes of what bag I use each day, but I’m pretty loose about it. Do what works for you!

Ugh, yes, please don’t remind me. [emoji53] I believe he made exact replicas of his higher end bags in faux leather! It would have made more sense to at least change the designs.

Fortunately, I don’t think he made any faux shearling bags. [emoji207]

He totally did. But I never saw a faux shearling bag, so yours still remains special. [emoji4]

Thanks, Cats! Do you use one of those apps to keep track? I'm just now figuring this out...

And I think those of us with complexes just feel like there is stress involved with not using bags. Somehow like the bags themselves deserve better? They should be getting loved? Maybe that’s what I feel, I hate to think of a bag languishing in my closet and never seeing the light of day, so giving it to someone who will use it, if it’s truly not going to get used with me, is awesome. It’s not wanting a minimalistic collection, I just want to be mindful about having the size collection that really gives me a happy feeling that everything I have is getting used a reasonable amount. I’m not a collector, I’m not running a bag museum, my joy from bags comes from them being out in the world on my shoulder, making my life in the moment a little more streamlined and easier as I make my way through my day.
Maybe that’s why I don’t care that much about evening bags. Those occasions are a) rare and b) pleasurable experiences where my hands are free and time is not rushed, so it doesn’t really make an impact if my bag is really ‘working’ or not and c)I don’t need much in the evenings, just phone, keys, cards, lipstick, so anything can fit that, even my wallets can double as clutches and do the job. With hands free it doesn’t matter if I’m carrying a clutch in my hand.
It’s the days that can be tricky, with kids and school and remembering my water bottle if I might get thirsty, folders that might be needed, the girls’ sippy cups or snacks if they are with me, etc etc etc..... It feels like a juggling act, at least a bit, at times, and if my bag is making things HARDER then I end up resenting that bag a ton and never using it. Weight is a big issue in this regard, if it’s a drag to lug. If it makes the day go more smoothly, everything I need close at hand, not heavy, etc, then I see that bag as being an angelic companion. And love it more. Functionality is big with me. So day bags are the thing I get excited about and evening bags definitely not, as they don’t seem to matter one way or another that much to my experience. But I’m not a fancy lady and I never get to really dress up, it seems.

A couple of thoughts.

Since having the perfect functionality means so much to you, have you determined exactly what style / measurements / features you need in a bag so that it works well for you? I know exactly what I need in a tote (strap drop, pockets and organization, dimensions, etc.) which is why my few totes are perfect for me. More importantly, knowing this list of must haves prevents me from buying new totes that wouldn't work - even when I'm frustrated and have a need for one like I do now. It's a great barrier to buying poorly. Same thing for non tote bags. Knowing exactly what works / doesn't work means I haven't bought any bags that aren't functional for me in a few years. That helped a LOT in keeping my purchase "success rate" higher and higher each year that I've tracked it.

Also, have you ever added up the cost of the bags you 1) don't use and 2) have given away? The totals may be large enough to help you pause when thinking of getting a new bag.
