I gave away a bag already in December and one in November. I feel good about that since several are coming in still. But after tomorrow only one trade bag arriving Thursday and one bag I ordered in October probably not coming until January. After that I get to prove to myself that I can be happy with 30 bags and not buying more, even if nothing is still on its way.
I could maybe give a couple more away. But really I don't feel stress about the size of my collection because I change every day and therefore use everything once a month, in rotation. That seems somehow OK to me. That's how many outfits I have so why not bags?
I have quite a few bags as well. I think as long as it is does not cause any financial issues and you have the storage space it is okay.

Seems like I have sold a bag! I am going to say goodbye and pack it up in the evenning. I am excited but also a bit sad at the same time. There are good reasons for letting it go - and the buyer seems nice - but I still remember the excitement when I bought it...
Congrats!!

I agree. I think the optimal number of bags is very person specific. The owner's goal for the collection should dictate the number range. For example if someone wants every Coach 1941, every Mulberry satchel or every robins egg blue premier bag, then they'll have a lot of bags with no upper limit. If they want to limit their bags to one shelf, they'll have just a few. I need variety but my limit is based on what I can use so 25-35 ish seems to be my limit. I currently have 28 and am having a little trouble rotating in 3 or 4 - mainly because I like some others better, not because I am at the point of having too many.

Congrats on the sale!!! Focus on the good things that will come from selling it. And it’s going to a good home. Win-win situation here. [emoji4]

Anyone at the point of planning potential acquisitions for next year? I need a good rationale for anything I plan to purchase. Something beyond my inner 4 year old screaming "Me Want!"

Here are my potentials. I have ZERO intention of buying all or even most of these bags.

I keep a list of potential buys to see what I actually need. I make a tick mark any time I need the bag and don't already have a suitable alternative in my closet. I added that tick mark info below.

DEFINITES
• Chanel Jumbo - Trade red caviar for red lamb. (This will be no new funds added. I expect to get one for approx. the proceeds on the other.)
• Black Fashion tote: This received 16 tick marks - well over my threshold of 6 wears per year. It's my most frustrating gap. Please Purse Gods, help me find this bag.
• Two work bags - I love my Max Mara tote. But, I'm tired of carrying it so much. I need two more non / low branded bags that look like handbags but hold a small laptop. (bordeaux and caramel) This didn't get tick marks because I can wear the Max Mara or Knomo but I need variety. The Gucci Stirrup I bought for this doesn't work for a number of reasons. But, I love it and use it in other situations so I'll happily keep it.
• Card holder: This got 17 tick marks. I have one, my pink Chanel. I bought two others this summer that I'm selling because they were impractical being metallics and / or lamb (dumb bunny me!). :-s I don't need a collection of card holders but I'd like to have a little variety. So I'll get a second - something cute but sturdy.

CONSIDERING
• Chanel Jumbo - Trade black patent for black lamb. I'd only consider single flap. I waffle because the patent is one of my go to's in bad weather. I wish I could have both part time. LOL! I'll see how I feel after making the red swap. (This will be no new funds added. I expect to get one for approx what the proceeds will be on the other.)
• Small black cross body w/ghw or gold crossbody: I have a lot of bags with shw. But, I've been wearing my yg jewelry more. I "sense" a need for another bag to allow for this. LOL! But I only have 3 ticks. :-s I'm going to let this year tell me if I need this bag. I won't plan on it.
• Another Trussardi Lovy Mini - OMG! I love this bag! It's so roomy although it's mini. And, I love the style. I'd like to get another in an interesting material but it's not a need - no tick marks.
• Two small work bags / WOC: I need two small bags (black and maybe a dark, matte metallic) I can slip into my totes and use when I'm running to lunch or for work dinners when I'm traveling. Maybe Chanel reissue?? because it has to be non / low branded. I'm going to hold off as long as possible. Especially since I expect to change gears career wise in the next 12-18 months. Maybe 2019?

OPPORTUNITY BUYS
(I want and think I'll use these but don't need them. If I run across them at insanely good prices, I'd consider scooping one or two up. But, no tick marks on any of these. And, shouldn't I buy the work bags and other known need bags first??)
• Balenciaga Rose Gold Pillow
• Miss Dior in burgundy, red, or turquoise
• Lady Dior tbd medium
• Gucci large brown Lady Web
• Gucci Stirrup (leopard or brown)

WANT BUT SHOULDN'T BUY
• Red Lock Me II BB - I love my black one and have wanted this in red. I haven't gotten any tick marks for this because I love using my small red Trussardi. This would be a duplicate.
Fendi By the Way (new color): I don't need one. I need to let this go. Lol!

POTENTIAL BAGS TO SELL / DONATE
I can't take it anymore. :panic:I have got to minimize selling. So, honestly, I will choose to sit on / be happy with some bags vs flipping them.

In any case, this is all I could see selling from my collection. Everything else is a definite keeper!

Other than the Chanel swap outs and potentially the Prada dzt's:

• Celine Python Edge: The love / hate continues. It's not worth anything close to what I paid. So, I need to continue to learn to love this bag. I'm wearing more and more black. That will help the love.
• Almost all my odds and ends (5 of the 7):frown:: these are security blankets. I don't wear them but keep them "just in case".

----

Ok, based on the above, this is what I'm thinking for 2018

BUY
• Chanel red lamb jumbo classic flap (swap)
• Black fashion tote
• Two work bags
• One tbd bonus bag
• Card holder

5 Bags + 1 SLG's in

SELL
• Chanel red caviar jumbo classic flap (swap)
• MK mini Hamilton cross body (O & E)
• MK gold Camden hobo (O & E)
• Windsor Brown Tote (O & E)
• Dior Card Holder

4 bags + 1 SLG out

Despite my desire not to spend much new money on bags it seems unavoidable this year. :crybaby:So, I'll hunt deals more than ever. If I can be a big girl and avoid buying the tbd bonus bag, all the better! If I'm excited about my work bags, I think I can.

Thanks for reading. Thoughts? Suggestions? Challenges?
Pillow is not Balenciaga, but BV

Today’s pick when I shopped my closet this morning, Bottega Veneta cervo loop hobo (large size) in New Light Grey.

The only large bags that I will buy from now on are hobos. My favorite bag shape is actually the structured satchel (as well as the softer satchel), but hobos definitely have a place in my life for times I dress casually. BV hobos are so fun to wear!

I changed my outfit because, brrr, it is quite chilly when I did some Christmas shopping this morning. So I changed into warmer clothes, jeans and my favorite leopard piece, a tailored wool/acrylic jacket with black elbow patches and pleating in the back that makes it flare out a little. So, I also had to change my bag. Back to the Zhoe with that awesome Coach strap.

A day later than I planned, but here are some photos of my new BV Chain Tote! Yesterday was gray and snowy and it was too dark to take any good photos. Thank goodness the days are going to start getting longer now — here in New England, the sun has been setting so early it’s dark at 4:30 pm! There was some sunshine today, however, so better for taking pics.

Between the comfy shoulder straps and the interior organization, I expect I’ll be using this one a lot! No mod shots yet as I spent the day in my sweats.

Ha ha. [emoji16] Thanks! I’m off to check if we have that tree here. [emoji16]

And this is the jacket that tempt me [emoji28]

Totally not my usual style, so I doubt that I’ll wear it if I get to go anywhere. But I kinda like that fringe-y fur. [emoji28] Not to mention how similar I’ll look like a bear in it. [emoji28]

***add*** We have that tree! The local name means good luck. People like to braid the trunk to make it stand up straight. Very interesting. [emoji848]
I LOOOOVE that jacket- it's gorgeous!!! (It's not 'me', either- I own nothing like it but looove that one!!! I'd be afraid of its 'white-ness'- how do ppl keep white things in pristine white?! I'm pretty careful with cleanliness, etc, but marvel at how quickly my light-colored anything gets dark. (Could it be pollution-related?!)

+1- I'm finding it odd, that, in a PURSE FORUM, everyone seems to have a complex (or something) about # of bags!!! I loooove all my bags. They range all over, but I truly feel they all have a function. I dislike redundancy, so am aware of not 'duplicating'. I also live in NYC where space is always not comparable to elsewhere, so need to be organized. But anyway, I've only been on TPF since fall-ish, and I'm already getting a complex!!! (Because, I have no in/out system, nor am I on a 'ban', though I probably should be. I'm just 'aware' of my purchases... :confused1::nuts:... which is also why I love & appreciate this forum. I suppose they'll not stop producing/making new desirable gorgeous bags anytime soon...)

I also feel I should add that it seems my preference is for contemporary bags, according to everyone's posted preferences here, though I think everyone's premier bag collections are GORGEOUS!!!:smile: Maybe if I swap out ALL my current bags...
