My five bags for the “5 bags that Spark Joy” exercise started by @Sparkletastic. All the bags in my collection spark joy, but these are the superstars:

The colors make me happy.

I swoon at this luxe pebbled leather and rich color.

The leather treatment and intrecciato are so pretty.

I love fabulous metallic leather. Bottega Veneta makes the best metallics.

Bottega Veneta deerskin leather is just heavenly.

Gosh I adore your LV Alma. I would love that in my collection. And, I always drool over your Dora. I would so get one - the leather looks soooo yummy! But I can't do just hand carry. I need arm or shoulder carry.
I try to think long and hard before duplicating styles. I like some variety and duplicating a style doesn’t always accomplish that. But some styles just work too well not to have multiples. If I duplicate a style, I try to ask myself how the addition will be different from the original, so I will get a color that is very different (usually one bag will read warm weather to me and the other cooler seasons), or a slightly different size.

My multiples are:

- Hermes Garden Party’s: one in Gold (warmer months), one in Rouge H (fall/winter)
- Hermes Evelynes: Blue Sapphire PM, Etoupe GM
- Chanel Reissues: 226 in black with Ruthenium HW, 227s in Dark Blue with Ruthenium HW and Black with Gold HW.
- Hermès Kelly 35: both vintage, but one is Barenia Leather (with a lot of patina!) and the other is Box leather in Indigo.

I also have multiples of a variety of Longchamp le pliage bags — since the price point is so much lower on those, I’m more susceptible to buying a color just because I like it.

One of the bags I used the most over the summer was my small Longchamp Roseau Heritage tote in Taupe. Such an easy bag, and style-wise, very versatile. For over a year now, I’ve considered getting another one in black. I just can’t decide on the size. Do I get another small, which looks cute and has a long cross-body strap, or do I go up one size for more capacity (especially for holding those winter gloves and hats), but then have a less cute size and a shorter strap that can’t comfortably go cross-body? I’m stuck on this one! :panic:
Sometimes I end up being glad that I get analysis paralysis on bags. Anything to stop a purchase.

Once I started looking into the vintage market, I realized there are a lot of truly special, unique bags out there if you’re willing to wait for them to come along. Funny thing is, before tPF I never would have considered buying a “used” bag, lol!
This! I agree so much on both points. For a number of bags, there are wonderful used / vintage options available. When a bag's price reaches our "that's crazy!" point (whatever that is), preloved is such a wonderful option.

And, I wouldn't have ever considered a used bag before TPF either. I don't know why. Preloved cars, houses, etc. don't bother me and I have to live in them. So a preloved bag shouldn't have been an issue.

I get analysis paralysis a LOT. I think I bring it on myself, actually. :p When I’m considering buying a bag, I do a lot of research, especially Google image searches. A lot of the time (probably 90% of the time), I oversaturate myself and max out on the bag before I have a chance to purchase. But if it’s a bag I just can’t get tired of looking at, I usually go for it!

I have a lot of trouble naming which bags bring me joy or make my heart sing. This is something I'm trying to pay more attention to and be more cognizant of. As many of you have said, best functionality and love don't necessarily go together.

I guess one I would point to is my pink KS Janie. I just love the color and it's easy enough to use on the function side. Not too big, not too small, zipper top. The striped lining is cute too.
My BV messenger because, well, BV, yummy woven leather, sentimental ties to NYC. And it is exactly my type of bag, a small-medium cross body.
My LC birdcage bag. Just love this bag. Love the color, the birdcage design, the heart on the back, the long handles. So easy to use for travel, so easy to throw on my shoulder.
My pink and black Missoni tote. I thought this was ridiculously expensive when I bought it, but I love it. I don't use it for an everyday bag, but it's very useful when I have need of a small N/S tote. I used it for a school bag, I use it for a stitching bag, it's great.
My Ted Baker bag with the citrus/flower print. So small but so pretty and I love the chain strap, so light and easy to carry.

I think the only multiple of the same bag I have is LC Le Pliage. But I do have similar designs from the same manufacturer. The Dooney Dillen Li and Ruby Satchel (denim chevron) are very similar. The Coach Bleecker Daily Shoulder Bag and Convertible Hippie Crossbody are very similar.

Also, I shipped my MK Hamilton today and I was able to catch the mailman and asked him to scan it. Bless him for doing so and saving me a lot of drama with Tradesy.

I listed another bag last night, and I offered another one to my coworker. I don't think she liked the price I gave her. I invited her to counter, so we'll see what she does. If she declines, I'll list it. I'm going to try to list some more over the weekend and next week.

I was on the fence about a couple bags, but I think I've decided to let one of them go. The other is a Betsey Johnson Be Mine Satchel in mint/bone. I've used it a few times. There's nothing really wrong with it, I just don't reach for it. It might be a little on the big side for my taste. Maybe I need to take it out this weekend before I decide what to do with it. Sometimes I feel like I just don't have the energy for this stuff. But it does feel good to get some of these bags sold, clear out some space and tighten up my collection. My credit card will benefit from the money too.

There's still a lot of energy still going into medical stuff. My mammogram came back clean, which is great, but when I got the email about a new test result, I was really hoping for the bone marrow biopsy result. I think I'm just going to have to wait until I see the hematologist on 12/1 for that. I doubt they're going to upload it. But as long as they don't call me wanting me to come in NOW, I guess it can't be too bad. No news is good news.

Great job on listings and sales!
Hope your biopsy comes back clean!

It can be so hard to wait. Sending you hugs during this time.

So, I sent pictures of two bags into Fashionphile, Yoogie's and Ann's Fabulous Finds. Yoogi's rejected both. Fashionphile offered a buyout of one at 85% of what I paid and the other at 37%. Ann's offered to consign both for me with expected proceeds at 100%+ of the first and 60% of the second.

So, off to Ann's they go! I can't believe the responses were so wildly different.

I'm going to send photos of all the material challenged bags to all three and see what happens. Can't hurt. But, wow! More of a reminder to buy wisely so I very rarely have to sell.

I love the LC Birdcage tote! I missed out on buying it somehow and wish they’d release it again in different colors.

Hooray for a clean mammogram!

Health issues can be so draining emotionally and physically, it’s a wonder you have any reserves left to think about which bags to sell. I went through something similar but different years ago when I was in constant chronic pain and no doctor seemed able to give me a correct diagnosis. Very different issue from yours but I can relate to the worry and exhaustion. Kudos to you for still working on that debt when you have everything else going on.

It’s fascinating to me when you get such different offers. I just sent a scarf off to Fashionphile. Yoogis rejected it outright, saying they only sell LV and McQueen at this time. Fashionphile offered me a direct buy price that was higher than I expected, so off it went!

I will be interested to see what you think of Ann’s. I haven’t sold anything through them but have only heard good things. I got my black Reissue 227 from them and although the price was a bit higher than others I saw on other sites, the bag is perfect — looks and feels amazing.

It is weird.

I've only dealt with selling on my own or through Ann's. She (her team) is very easy to work with.
