I totally agree. I don't understand spending that much on a bag that you're planning to change. You might as well wait for the bag to show up at the Outlets or SAS, which knowing Coach, it probably will.
I think that the reason for buying a bag, even if you need to make a small change, is that everything else about it is just right. And I have found that some sizes/shapes/colors, etc, with Coach do not come around all of the time. So if you find something that is otherwise perfect for you other than something like fringe, etc, if you plan to keep the bag for yourself there is no problem with having to do a slight alteration.

I am used to making some alterations to almost all of my Coach bags-- a lot of mine are satchels that have a crossbody strap. I usually carry them as satchels, but do not like crossbody, so I typically shorten the crossbody strap to shoulder length--and it is then perfect for me.

As for going to the outlet/FOS/SAS, many bags do, but generally the very popular colors or styles might not. For example the Dakotah had a lot of extras in black, but not in colors like blue, etc--they were nowhere to be found after selling out. So it is a gamble--you can wait, but you might end up having to look on ebay if the bag is sold out.

With me, the thing is, I'm not so obsessed with any bag that I will have deep regrets for months if I don't get one. (deep regrets are reserved for fobs. lol!) For a bag I know I would alter, I wouldn't wait hoping to get it at an outlet, it would still be a new bag and I have problems permanently altering a bag in its new state. BUT, I don't blink an eye at one that has already been used. So, my best bet would be to wait until someone uses the bag for a bit and lists it on ebay for a decent discount. Then I would have no problem cutting and / or removing parts. Weird to some, reasonable to others, but that's the way I am.

I think the code not working on the website (or with JAX) is because they removed the exclusions late in the game and didn't update their software. I think a lot of us have had no problems at all buying them with PCE in a store. That's a drag, I wish they would update the site so it works! It's probably frustrating a lot of people. Maybe in a few days. On the flax color, I tried it on when I was in the store a few days ago. It's very pretty, a little mustard-colored to me ... there was a legacy color (and a madison color) that were very similar - I can't think of the color name for those, though. It's got some gold in it ... definitely (to me) not a bright yellow. Maybe a bright mustard. I hope that helps a bit!
I'm glad to hear the code is working in the stores! I was really bummed that it didn't work online when I tried to purchase a medium saddle on Friday. I checked this morning - it's still not working on the site, and JAX still wouldn't take my code over the phone. I guess I'm going to have to run into the store to use it, but I'll be glad to get the saddle on sale however I have to get it! :)

You can also just call your store and they will place your order with the discount over the phone. Then you can either pick up in store at your convenience or have it shipped to your home.

I ordered over the phone because the closest Coach store is two hours away. I ordered fog and flax. There was only one fog in the store, which was a floor model, which I didn't want so it will actually still ship from JAX. You'll be able to see your order on Coach.com, if you have an online profile.

Smaller or larger one
I just saw large one in my store
Really pretty
It is a pretty bag. I haven't seen that color, but I have the chalk one. It's the larger one. It was initially saying on backorder, but I just received a shipping notice. It's being shipped from a Coach store in San Antonio. I hope it wasn't on the sales floor.

Very pretty color! Is that the small or medium one? What was wrong with the black one? You wanted a brighter color?
Small one
I just felt like the black was too plain for me
I originally was going to return black for small oxblood whiplash, but they only had large one in store
Then I saw blue saddle bag and knew I needed it😀
