I'd like to get a whiplash saddle bag for the PCE event, but have a few questions for those who already have it. I know some of you have removed the fringe, but did anyone leave it on? Does it look that bad with it on? I don't want to mess it up trying to remove it and from some of the pictures I've seen on TPF with the fringe it looks kind of cute to me, especially when worn on the shoulder. The measurements listed online for the whiplash are the same as the regular saddle bag, but to me the regular saddle bag was too small. Does the whiplash saddle bag have more room than the regular saddle bag? Any feedback on the whiplash saddle bag would be appreciated.

Hi Anne! I have two and, as you may have seen, I did remove the fringe. It was too much for me...but I will admit that when I see it on others, it looks cute. I think the pieces that attach at the bottom were just over the top for me and again, once I deconstructed mine, I fell in love. I had the regular saddle in black when first released but felt it was too stiff and returned. I think the pebbled leather on this (which is heavenly), makes it feel like an entirely different bag, easier to carry, flexible so it has more give, if that makes sense. Be curious what you decide!

BTW, I returned the Oxblood Rogue so the saddles are my only pieces from the 1941 collection (as of today at 3:12 pm ET ;))

Thanks for your response on the whiplash saddle bag. I'm seriously considering it. Have you seen it in chalk? Does it look plain in that color? I was considering that color or camel. Oh no, you returned your Rogue. We're no longer bag twins. Are you getting another Rogue in a different color?

I really like the fringe- I think it's cute. I can't speak to the size compared to the regular saddle bag. Here's a pic of my saddle bag in camel. There are also a ton of pics in the thread I started called "1941 reveal." Hope this helps!

Thanks for responding. Your bag is very pretty. I like the purse both ways with or without the fringe, I just know I wouldn't try to remove it for fear I'd mess it up. Your 1941 thread has a lot of great pics. I really like that bag, now to decide on a color. Your color is neutral and would go with just about everything, but the mineral color is stunning as well.

I have seen the chalk. IMO, its really eye catching. I only passed on it (for now) because I am really concerned with color transfer (I wear jeans almost every day as I have a casual work environment). Consider that. But, if you plan to double the strap, you would probably really reduce the chance of that. I have also seen the camel. Its pretty & a color that I've not seen in a Coach bag, at least recently. I prefer more of a true saddle brown color so I could rule that one out. I have mineral & never planned on getting it until I saw it in person. Such a unique color. You can't go wrong!

As for the Rogue, I don't plan to get another. If a smaller version is available as I've heard, maybe then. It was just too dang heavy!

Thanks for you input. I was really considering the chalk one, but I'm so confused on color. I love the mineral in pictures, but chalk makes more sense for my wardrobe. I am also worried about color transfer and won't have to worry about that with mineral, but I'm also drawn to chalk bags lately, so I'll have to sleep on it.

With the Rogue, I haven't carried mine or cut the tags. It's all sealed up and waiting to go to UPS tomorrow. I have to return the one I have, and I've already done a presale under PCE for the same bag. I hope I don't find it to be too heavy when I do start carrying it. I hardly carry anything in my purses though, I just like to have extra room, so I should be okay.

You're welcome! It's a great bag, and it gets better every day as I break it in. I think the chalk and mineral are both stunning so you can't go wrong either way!

Hi Sarah,
I noticed that you hsve the strap on yours doubled. How do you like it that way? I don't wear any bags crossbody but wear this one just long on the side. Do you usually wear shoulder bags & that's why you like it that way? Wondering if it's easy to get in & out of?
Great bags though, huh!?!

I have a black/oxblood saddle bag on hold until Saturday...the regular size, style #37200, but i was reading through this thread and found some mentioning an issue with the strap or perhaps difficulty with the flap opening due to the strap and a couple of you returned them. It looks great in pictures, but what's the problem with the bag? Does anyone have style #37200 and love it? For reference, I have a black shadow crossbody that I use a lot more than I thought I would, especially when I grocery shop or run out somewhere quick and just want a small bag to carry. What I find annoying about that bag is the metal clasp at the opening. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't even consider purchasing the black saddle bag.

Hi Teagaggle! I doubled it for a couple of reasons. I am short (5'2) and I don't like to carry large bags crossbody. I also didn't like the strap so long when worn as a shoulder bag, so when my SA doubled it for me, it was instant love. I'm turning into a satchel kind of girl, but i used to be strictly a shoulder bag girl. I think this bag is very easy to get in & out of. The flap is lined in suede so it's soft and easy to open, especially since I doubled the strap. Not to mention the leather smells AMAZING! I paid FP for this baby, and I am not even mad about it! It was worth every penny!

I had the 23 & I found it difficult to open the flap because of the buckles. I tried doubling the strap, but it was still too tight. Since the leather is a bit stiffer it is a tad harder to manipulate (vs the pebbled leather). I also didn't like the glovetanned leather on my 23 because it was all scratched up, but I felt like I got a returned bag/display bag and not a brand new one. I have 2 Aces and a Nomad & I love the glovetanned leather on those, so I'm not sure what the deal was with the saddlebag.

UPS just dropped off my bags. All three were factory wrapped as I'd been promised. Of course, I knew I'd love the Rogue and Outlaw as those were just returned to repurchase on PCE, so I haven't even unwrapped those yet. I quickly unwrapped the whiplash saddle bag, and I absolutely LOVE it! Fringes and all :-). It's exactly how I pictured it. I now understand the issue with the flap, though. It does stick to the metal ends of the strap when opening, but I'm sure I can look past that minor flaw and focus on the overall beauty of the design.

And I have a Nomad, and I haven't had any issues with the glovetanned leather, either, other than it improving with time. You may have gotten a bad one. The one being held has never been used and is still factory wrapped. I may go for it. An all leather bag at that price is quite a deal.
