I've been MIA for like a week - finally finished our last pitch of the year and I am EXHAUSTED! And now happily catching up here haha.

Thank you to everyone who is rejoicing with me about the house! sorry I can't go back and quote everyone.

Dc I think you asked about the house. It's a smallish 3/2 with a screened in back porch. It's vaguely gable/cottage style, which is as close to my dream cottage look as I'll get in south florida lol. I'm very very excited to make this house our own!!

Just finished signing the paperwork and I am now officially a homeowner!
Your new house sounds so cute!!! and CONGRATULATIONS!!! What a way to finish the year!

Received my Coach Taylor tote and it is a keeper. Light weight and beautiful evenly pebbled leather.
read further into the thread and saw you returned it - sorry to hear it didn't work out =( could you try coated canvas? (Sorry, I can't remember if leather was a must for this bag.). That way it's one less worry about it being too delicate, but also keeps it light weight?? I hope you find the perfect bag!

With me at the office today. I think this shows the blue more (or maybe not? Lol)

this is gorgeous - love the simplicity of it.

How can you decide that your bags will be in medium or small-medium size? I feel I need to have bags in diffrent size (max 4 per criteria) to fulfil different needs.

Hm, my rule of thumb when buying bags are:
1. I dont have more than 4 in that size category
2. No inside divider
3. Secured closing (made exemption only for LV Noe)
4. Preferably with back pocket for easy access to phone

I only like certain brands, and especially only like certain models. For example I have balenciaga moto in part time, first, city, and thinking to buy red small city next year. Am quite boring, I guess.

By end 2016, my bag count is 19, including party clutch and 'lunchbag', but excluding 2 longchamps and fabric bags. It used to be 20, but I rehomed my Longchamp Cuir this morning following one of the question (sparkletastic?) in this thread or the 2017 thread.

My problem is I am sorely lack in medium bag category (ca. speedy 30 size). I thought Sofia Ferragamo small is in that category but turns out smaller. Any idea what other bag is in that category?
when I'm not going to work, usually I prefer a medium size (like you mention, the Speedy 30). When I'm at work, I prefer totes which are generally bigger so I can fit a laptop also. For errands, I try to minimize to a crossbody. Like you, my bag size depends on its use. The Gucci Bostons are simlar in size to Speedy 30s, and Dooney and Bourke have bags in the majority of the medium and medium/small bag. RM bags seem to fall into that category too and then the Givenchy Antigonia has a size similar to the Speedy 30 too. I answering this, I don't think I have a small bag that is not a clutch or crossbody haha.

Let me share something else: Today, I left for a week at my parents' house. I will spend Christmas with them and meet some friends from old times. I told my BF, I would pack about 3 bags. Turned out, I only packed one! [emoji15] It seemed that my caramel Peekaboo would go with all the selected outfits and boots. Weather should be fine. Just in case, I also brought a large LC Le Pliage in black - it is filled with books etc. but can easily be emptied out. I am still surprised... Feels risky concentrating on one bag, on the other hand, bags are safer at home than traveling. Good news is, I seem to have selected a really versatile bag! And: there will still be occasions where my other bags will come in handy, no jealousy [emoji6]
to be able to take one bag on a trip, is amazing. That totally means you've found 'the one' - or at least 'the one' among other 'ones' haha.

Or you know what... I usually get a first aid kits filled with over the counter medicine such as Tylenol and bandaids etc as a gag gift for event like this. The price is right and usually, everyone will use it once in a while. Just put them in a cute pouch to make them look nice and presentable. ;)
this is a great idea! I wouldn't even consider it a gag gift! It's so practical and the cute pouch is perfect! I'm using this idea! Thank you!

I am looking over the bags that made the cut this year. I really like what I am left with. Are you all happy with what made the final cuts for the year? This is the first year that I feel I was completely ruthless . If something didn't work out it went. This is thanks to you all telling me not to settle. I even have a red Mz Wallace bag that had been rarely worn the previous year and this year it was worn almost as much as my neverfull due to all your help with styling. Maybe in the 2017 thread we could reiterate what worked for us this year so the new comers have it a bit easier.
I'm happy! I have more to let go of, but I've already chosen them, it's just a matter of getting them out. So overall, yup! totally happy! And happy with what came in too =) And great idea about putting what worked for us, in the new thread

I definitely like what I'm left with, and I don't miss the 14 bags and 13 SLGs that I re-homed. Because of this thread, this was the first year since I began collecting bags (a few years ago) that I had bags go out, instead of coming in, and it was a great feeling! Instead of feeling overwhelmed by my bag collection, I'm really feeling good about it. I have a few more bags to sell (or maybe donate) next year, and then I think my collection will be stable.
I like your idea of posting what worked for us in the 2017 thread!

Definitely happy with what I have. A variety of brands, styles, and material to fit my lifestyle.

But I think we all have to stop some purchases from being made in the first place along with culling the collection. Selling is stressful, if we know it's not right at the store's register, we need to learn to walk away (and never look back!)
Yes, that's definitely one of my 2017 goals! My downfall is sales... I see a bargain and I think "How can I pass this up?" :panic: :panic: :panic:

Dcooney4,

I am so glad that your loving your collection now. It's amazing how much insight and support we have gained thru this thread. I am semi happy with my collection as I need to focus on few semi permanent items. Like idea of reiterating successful ideas in 2017 thread

wow, interesting that you bring almost same amount of stuffs everyday. now i understand how you can have mostly medium bag. my stuffs vary a lot so maybe that's why i feel i need organizing my bag according to the size and keep everything equal.

thanks again for the jumbo suggestion. i will definitely get one. btw do you know whta is the equivalent size in reissue?

the bags i like (and have multiples in different sizes) are veneta hobo, balenciaga moto and ferragamo sofia. ferragamo med is too large and sofia is too small. veneta large is right size (i think?) but no longstrap. so maybe small city, since city is too big? hmmmm anyone knows if small city is around the same capacity as speedy 30?
Floodette. The reissue 227 is equivalent to a jumbo. The reissue 226 is bigger than med/large but smaller than jumbo.

Great answer, Vink. I saved this in Evernote so I can look at it in the future.

All things being equal like materials, the reissue strikes me as more casual and perhaps more easy to wear than the classic flap. Do you find that to be the case?
Spark,

I find my reissue to be more of a challenge than my classic flaps to wear. It could be because of the color though. It's not a bag that I automatically reach for. It definitely is under the radar unless one knows bags. Maybe a discreet 226 in black for work could be option.....thoughts for me to ponder on.

I absolutely love the Peekaboo bag. It's the one bag I regret not getting years ago. Now they are 4K and I don't know if I want to pay that price for it. How do you find it in terms of functionality?

Well, I took my black patent Chanel Jumbo out today and it worked! I'm keeping her. I have on jeans (too cold for my usual dresses), black boots and a black and grey sweater. The patent is the perfect monochromatic pop to spice up my outfit. Plus the patent is completely carefree in winter weather.
Spark,

Thank the purse gods....the thought of you selling this bag gave me nightmares. I'm glad that your seeing the benefits of this in your collection.
