How do you all secure your handbags at work? Are you okay with not locking up your bags?

I have a drawer at my desk I can lock. This is what determines what can and cannot be a work bag, if it'll fit in the drawer.

But I feel I neglect my larger bags because of this. So if I took my larger Longchamp totes, they won't fit in the drawer unless I squashed them in. I restrict myself from purchasing large, structured bags, which is kind of a bummer because I like them. No Neverfulls for me, it won't fit.

And there are some I must lock up. My Chanel flap, my Evelyne, any LV, any small bag, they must be locked up.

But if you don't have a locked cabinet/drawer, how do you secure your items?

ETA: Is it bad that I don't remember any of the bags I sold/gave away/ returned last year?

I used to put mine in a drawer. We've moved office locations a few times and every time we move the building get more disgusting. So now I just leave it on my desk. I'm fortunate that I work in a secure area (even if it is disgusting) so I'm not too worried about people stealing. You could use the large bags during the weekends or on trips. Though I does stink that you can't carry them everyday to work.

Have still been carrying my small Coach backpack; more out of laziness than love! Will try to change out of it today.

One of the bags I had listed sold for a price that I am happy with and my buyer paid immediately. I will get this one sent off today. The other one did not sell and I was both disappointed and relieved; if that makes any sense. I will re-evaluate to see if I am willing to take less or hold onto it a bit more.

I also added a purse to my Fashion Project box; my last donation that might qualify for a Nordstrom gift card. I have really enjoyed donating to this group since the money my stuff brings goes to charities that I choose. I will also mail this today; no chance for second thoughts! I plan to continue to donate to this group even now that the gift card promo is over. They have been so great and easy to deal with!

With the above, I am 2 bags out and no bags in this month. I cannot congratulate myself too much though, as I bought some shoes on Fri and have ordered another pair online. Oh well ...

Good job Mimmy!!!! 2 out 0 in is a great way to start off the year! At least you are getting more of your moneys worth with the Coach backpack.

Also - exciting news! Last week I thought I'd sold a bag. Anyway, it didn't work out and surprisingly I am happy about it. I was right when I said I had a small but perfect collection. I'm going to use it tomorrow. It's this one

and I'm going to wear it with an emerald green silk dress and black heels.
Anyway - that wasn't the exciting news! A few minutes ago, one of my Directors called and I'm getting another bonus!! Woo hoo!! An even bigger part of my excitement is this. Since I started posting here, I don't want anything new. So instead of splurging the way I always have, that money is going straight into my savings account. My one treat will be a sculpture of Norton - something happy to remember him by.
Yay for the bonus!! And double yay for hte savings!! This Bal is really for you then, or at least, it's not yet time to let it go. Funny, I have a somewhat similar (not exactly the same) experience this weekend. I already took pictures of 1 bag I was planning to list in ebay among other bags. When I was making the listing for that particular bag and was just about to upload pictures, I stopped right there and then and saved my draft for later. It was not yet time to let the bag go...

I was waiting for DH in our garden (I accompanied him to their office to report for his dispatch to his new ship by Jan-end) and I snapped this photo of my mint colored RM MAC. Yeah, too bad she's quite dirty now :( I've already cleaned her with Apple Leather conditioner but not all dirt was wiped out. Maybe I need to use another cleaner. Any suggestions? We might have it here in our country. Btw, the key charm I'm using with the bag was from DH. He bought it from Sweden (thus the flag and moose charms). I moved out of my MAM but just for today. Tomorrow I'll try to use a different bag :)
Sorry to hear about your MAC. They said to use Apple cleaner (not conditioner) for extreme cases. But I tried that on a light colored bag but I didn't think it did much.

Hello all :) I feel like I am always catching up however I do love reading about how everyone is getting on so it's in no way a complaint! Such a lovely group of people.

I had quite a manic weekend however I did get to use my cobalt blue Fossil Sydney satchel as a pop of colour in all this dreary weather in the UK:

My new favourite (my Le Pliage) has also been getting more airings this weekend, with all the rain it has been perfect. In other news....I have sold my MBMJ Goodbye Columbus tote, great bag but I just wasn't in love with it so hopefully it has gone to someone now who will really be able to enjoy it. I also sold a Ted Baker clutch bag that I was given for Christmas, I didn't count it in my original list of bags as I knew it would be sold. That sounds awful, it just wasn't to my taste.
The Prada is still at consignment and I haven't had any news, have my fingers and toes crossed for good news soon :)
Nice bag you have there! I heard that Fossil bags are made well. What do you think about the leather quality?

Bake - on your question about storage at work. I just put it on the work area at the back of my chair for lack of locked space to store it in. We have a security guard at the front of my floor so hopefully my stuff is secured.

For ladies asking about MAMs, the RM Team just posted this in one of the RM threads:

Sadly, there isn't a planned restock for the MAMs yet But, don't fret! We know how much you all love the MAM, and we will definitely forward your suggestions on to production (we'll also make note of beloved rose gold hardware)!

Well done getting 2 bags out & none in. I am a big fan of the Fashion Project too. I'm going to keep donating to them even though the promotion is over as well.

I already feel myself on the verge of screwing up with this goal after a really terrible day.

I know exactly how you feel, I promise. But buying something cannot fix the problems in your life. I tried to fix my own problems with bags for years and all I have to show for it is debt and a poor self-image. You will reach brighter days and you will feel better again :flowers:

Awww, thank you. You're right, a new bag isn't going to fix any of my first world problems. They haven't before and they won't now. I appreciate your comment a lot. We can do this. :hugs:

Thanks! Yes, my laziness has allowed me to use my Coach backpack for 1 week. Think I'll go change my bag now. ;)

Thanks! Yes, the Fashion Project is an easy way to donate clothing and accessories and get tax receipts for them.

Some days are really terrible, scumone. Stay strong, hopefully tomorrow will be better. We are here to support you!

I just sit mine on my desk haha, no security. We're in a satellite office with secured entry and I'm surrounded by dudes, except for one girl who I talk about bags with haha.

Nope, I don't think it's bad at all - to me, it tells me that it was a right decision to let them go. I have a hard time remembering what I sold and when I look back, forget that I even owned them.

clevercat - much congrats on your bonus and a great way to remember Norton by.

Ebby - great bag, I love the color

msd_bags - my mom just got a Fossil bag over the weekend and she loves it. It's a beautiful red and the leather is really nice and soft. She's really excited to use it and has repeated that she 'can't wait to use her bag' and she NEVER says that about ANY bag.

Sorry for not responding to everyone, this thread is moving a bit too fast for me =S

Update - starting my second week in my KS - so far so good. I used to have to think about her a lot when I used her in terms of how everything fit, but I'm slowly not having to think about it and it seems like it's getting easier and easier. As of today, it seems KS will staying.. at least as of today.

I already feel myself on the verge of screwing up with this goal after a really terrible day.

I have some free time after lunch before my son and I review his lessons so I thought I'd drop by to say Hi! :D

Hang in there scumone! I know how you feel. I was that way before but now I'm proud to say that I am better in resisting the urge to buy bags or wallets when I'm emotionally "unstable" so to speak hehe. And this thread is one of the factors that helped me. Stay strong. You can do it! :)

And something happened today that will make me even stricter with my bag spending. DH and I talked to a contractor about a possible home renovation and it will be a major one. So now I see myself saving up more for our home than for a bag. This is a great motivation. I still have my bag wishlist but a bag can wait. I still have other bags in my closet for me to enjoy :)

Hugs to you, scumone. I'm realizing that I'm also something of an emotional shopper, especially since my finances are pretty comfy these days. I guess I don't really have anything useful to say except that you're not alone!

As for the security at work question, I often leave my bag on my desk. Our desks are U shaped, with a locking filing cabinet on each end, so sometimes I put my bag under the desk against the side of the cabinet, where you can't see it unless you're inside the cubicle. I don't have anything more expensive than Coach or Michael Kors and we have almost no theft in the office, so I don't fret about it a lot. Drives my boss and coworkers up the wall, they all lock up their purses. My boss has on occasion put my bag in the overhead if we were going into a meeting or something.

Thanks for the suggestions on the violet MK, everyone. I'm going to work on that since I have a goal of using all my bags this year. I just ordered a gray skirt from ModCloth, and I think I'll look at pairing it with that. I also have a pair of purple ankle boots. Hmmmm.......stay tuned.

Today I used a different MK, this suede snake print one. I have no idea what the name of it is, I got it at the outlet.

Hi ladies! I finally made it over here! So today while my LO was napping, I was able to work on my StyleBook app. I added all of my sweaters and sleeveless tops/blouses. Seriously, why does one need 25 sleeveless tops, 3 being white/cream bottom ups?? Anyway, I've added enough to actually start adding looks! Here's what I'm wearing to work tomorrow (I work in a very casual environment and it's going to be in the 70s in LA):

Jeans: 7FAMK bootcut
Top: Joie silk sleeveless blouse
Sweater: Equipment navy cardigan
Shoes: Vince Camuto wedges
Bag: Madewell leather tote
Jewelry/Accessories: Cartier love bracelet, Tory Burch logo studs, Kendra Scott large orange pendant, Chloe oversized sunglasses
