Hello, wanted to gain some thoughts on the 1941 pieces on sale, especially the rogue going on sale. Honestly, I am so glad some of you got such a deal but I am put off by the sale. I purchased some of these pieces months ago after being told by sales associates the 1941 collection never goes on sale, especially the rogue. I've been burned by coach in the past this way and swore never to pay full price at a boutique again until the 1941 collection came along and I was promised it would be different. These bags are at such a high price point I have decided again never to buy full price at coach boutique. Does anyone have similar thoughts or have a different perspective? thanks!
Some of us already have the 'never pay full price' mentality because of the fact that everything will go on sale or to the outlet eventually IF there's any of the merchandise left. The most wanted and popular items usually sell out, so people buy full price to ensure they get what they want. You take your chances either way, you take a chance on what you want selling out and you have to buy on the secondary market if you want it bad enough or you take a chance and buy it full price and hope they never go on sale.

I agree. Some things I buy full price and some things I try to wait for a sale. It is a numbers game and some times you can get something you really want on sale. If you have to have a certain color pay full price. If not, wait for the sale.

I bought the very first Rogue without even knowing these bags would be such a huge deal. The first generation bags were still in the early stages with keys, locks and different zipper pulls. I liked the bag so I bought it at full price without question. I have not purchased another one since. Just that one was enough. The bag is heavy and awkward to carry sometimes. I was not a fan of all the tea roses and embellishments that Coach is prone to go into once the basic bag becomes a hit. But that was not my taste.
It's a matter of personal tastes. If you like it then get it. With anything, there is always the chance that it will sell out or that it wil be a huge bust and you end up with an $800 eyesore that no one but you likes, That's why you have to get something to please yourself, don't put yourself in Financial jeapardy or try to keep up with the Jones's. Do if for you and you only, then you can just say "eh" when this happens,

I went to my local Coach store today and they didn't have anything out indicating that there was a sale (except for the shoe section). I mentioned that I had gotten an email and they showed me which parts of the store were included in the *private* sale. The SA told me to just ask them if I wanted to know the sale price of an item. Always double check on the website because they didn't know that the bag I wanted was on sale :)

I completely agree... wouldv'e gone with Chanel if I was trying to keep up with the Jones. I think I'm just a bit disappointed in myself for listening to a sales associate and losing 1000 dollars 3 months later seeing those same items at almost 50 percent off

I totally understand that. I've been there too many times. With Coach follow your gut. Once, they are 5 or 6 generations in, believe that the more expensive it gets, the morel likely it is that they will go on sale. Coach has a base of customers like myself, that love the leather and the quality, and we but the first run bags. But as they spin past the basic colors, sizes and shapes, the quality starts to dip and the gimmicks begin. Those bags are usually the ones that will be on sale. Rule of thumb, only buy one or two items from each line, no matter what, there are too many resellers and discount sites to invest too much in one line. Plus Coach always has so much going on anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I am a huge coach fan, I only carry their bags and have over a hundred bought over many, many years but they can get a little out there. So beware.

Guys...my wallet...haha went back for more today! Ended up with the petal colorblock and turquoise dinky, and a clutch. They are for sure trying to get rid of inventory because chatting up with my SA she said they wouldn't be restocking any items getting sold out with the sale (although you always gotta take a grain of salt with info like that). Definitely call ahead to the stores if there's something you want - the turquoise dinky was supposedly unavailable but they had 2 in stock so you never know what you'll find

Don't blame the SAs, though, it's corporate that makes these decisions. My SA didn't know until right before the sale started.

I'm so tempted by the Beatnik Rivets Rogue 25, but all the talk about rivets tarnishing or falling off is kind of scaring me away. Also, there's a regular Rogue for just slightly more and Satchels for almost $100 less. (And we're trying to pay *down* debt, not add more. >.>)

Decisions!

Probably true but I sure feel sorry for the SA's having to deal with unhappy customers who were told that those certain pieces would NEVER go on sale.
When the Rogue first came out I remember how many on the Coach forum were buying them left and right and saying their SA's told them that, without a doubt, those bags would never go on sale.....even back then, knowing Coach as I do, I doubted that was true and I guess I was right.
Sad for those who paid the big bucks but hopefully they're loving their bags despite the high price.

Thanks goodness I got my 1st generation Rogues and other 1941 items with PCE and friends and family discounts so I never paid full price for this collection. The only exception was for the Disney collection, but the items I bought sold out and never made it to any sales. I think people on here forgot about the early discounts.

I mean tbh as we've seen from many brands, SAs know a little more than we do. They don't know what Coach is gonna do in the future so I don't think it's ever a good idea to take their word on these things.

Plus a salesperson is there to SELL, right? So whether it's the truth or not that the bags will never go on sale they're merely telling the customer what they think they want to hear, right? Not to sound cynical or anything.
