Joining the group of people waiting for bags!

Mine was marked as Shipped on Friday, but it hasn't actually even been received by UPS yet. I know it hasn't been long, but I'm sooo impatient. LOL

I'm already imagining smelling that beautiful Butterscotch leather. And using my Oxblood Satchel's crossbody strap on it instead of the included shoulder straps.

I think the UPS tracking is usually misleading for us Canadian customers. You don't get an origin scan until it actually arrives in Canada (in Ontario). It never actually shows as being picked up by UPS even though it was. I bet it shows up in Ontario later tonight or tomorrow!

Great idea on using the Oxblood crossbody strap!

I'm sure there are secrets to eBay that I don't know, but in general, it comes down to

- Really good and clear photos - this matters
- A description listing and then product listing that has the key words that people look for. Color, bag name, bag number, etc. Be very clear about the condition of the bag.
I've been buying and selling on ebay since the early to mid-nineties and in a nutshell, you've said it perfectly. Lots of clear photos, put as much detail in your title as possible and a detailed description pointing out good points (ex. an extra hang tag) as well as bad (ex. corner wear).

@ Hobbsy - There's several of us on here that sell, don't be afraid to pm any one of us if you have a question.

See, Hobbsy? Look at your TPF support group...we're all here for you, lol!

Some of you guys have been selling on EBay way longer than me...I could probably learn more myself.

PS - SuzanneB and Galaxygrl have summed it all up in a nutshell!

Thank you Suzanne, I really appreciate that. I know I'll have questions.

I also have been toying with the idea of selling some of my old Coach purses on eBay. I was thinking of starting with Craig's List though to see if I could try selling them locally. Do you all think that is a good idea or should I start with eBay? I am another one that has never sold on eBay except through a company that does it for you and I don't want to pay them the fees for them to do the selling as they are not convenient to my location, so it is a huge hassle.

I've sold on Craig's list too, but only large items. I've not tried to sell any bags on there so I can't really say much about it. The one thing I have heard a few people say is that people are always trying to talk them way down on the price, but that doesn't mean it happens everywhere.

The offer stands for you too. If you go the ebay route, feel free to pm me.

Selling on eBay is so easy these days. It used to be much harder, now they walk you through it. If you can use this forum, you can sell in eBay.

You are all overthiking this. It's easy. Also, you can use the advance search to search for sold listings to see what your bag is worth.

The combo of sellers fees and paypal equals 15%. I have not found free shipping to make much of a difference, so while i used to offer it, I don't anymore.

Here is a sold bag of mine. http://www.ebay.com/itm/222484888128?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649 What to note.

- Super good detailed photos. I go to my roof and take photos in the Sun to get good shots.
- Lots of detail. I'm super transparent of any flaws. I sell things NO return, and I don't want problems will buyers, so I super clear.
- Note the color, style number, brand and bag name for key words.

As a note, I bought this bag on eBay for $400 and sold it 5 months later for $400. No guilt. Also, I just bought a red rogue on eBay for $400 in EUC and will most likely sell it when I'm bored of it for $400 because I assume fall bags will come out and I will fall in love with something.

Hubby & I have been on ebay since 1999! We started small & learned a lot. I think we even purchased some small items & paid quickly to build a feedback rating (which I am proud to say is at 100% after all these years).
I agree with everyone's comments here. Pictures are key. Quality as well as the number allowed, which currently is 12. I also personally, as a buyer, like to see pictures of the actual item, not stock photos. I include photos of front, back, sides, interior, tags, creeds and particularly any flaws. Detailed descriptions. I have found that providing free shipping is a plus as well. As a buyer, sometimes I look for that. Personally, I indicate that the items I sell are from a smoke-free home. It's a personal preference, but I have found that I am generally more pleased with items that come from a smoke-free home, since I am not a smoker myself.
I used to let my husband do all of our listings because I found it to be too complicated. However, now, I do them all myself and, if you go through it thoroughly, it is quite easy.
Probably the most time-consuming part of the process is taking the photos. I typically will then crop them and resize them to fit eBay guidelines. It allows me to zoom in and show just what I'm selling, not all the background which I might be including when taking the photos.
Such great advice from everybody on this forum/thread! For me, selling my stuff on eBay has allowed me to continue my Coach addiction :-)

Thank you Suzanne, I really appreciate that. I know I'll have questions.

I also sell on eBay & while it has frustrating moments, it's actually a great way to thin out your collection.
I find I have less trouble when I list my items as "Buy it Now" and require immediate payment. It may take longer for items to sell, but it's worth it to avoid the drama of non-paying bidders.

I'm going to throw my two cents in for the eBay selling. When you list an item make sure you have a box that the item fits well in. There's nothing I hate more than receiving a bag all scrunched up in a too small box. I think buyers appreciate it if you take the time to package their purchase with care. I like to make sure as I list my bags that I have an appropriate box so that when it does sell I'm prepared since I always do 'buy it now' instead of auction style listings, so I never know when it's going to sell.

As an authenticator, it concerns me that you don't have the photos necessary for authentication. Many people will pass up your listings if this information isn't included.

By the way, those stock photos belong to Coach. Unless they gave you permission to use them, you are violating their copyright.
