The same happened to me a couple months back. At my local Chanel store, I found a Chanel 19 in Large size in goatskin which had not been sold in the past year because of lockdown. My bag is a year old too. I had the choice between lamb and goat, and a couple of SAs at the store advised me to get the goatskin one. They said, goatskin is more hardwearing for a larger size bag and great for everyday use.

As far as warranty, bags purchased after April 2021 will benefit of the five year warranty.

The Lambskin one had a nice look, and it didn’t scratch easily, however, I googled goatskin and learned goatskin is the most heavy-duty-leather Chanel offers. This particular bag, the Chanel 19 in Large, I purchased for the purpose of having a larger bag that I will use often, and I want it to be less prone to scratches. I am happy with my bag. I hope you will too. I have to say your bag looks beautiful and at this point in time it is a rarity.

I am definitely leaning toward keeping it but I am not sure if it's goatskin or lamb. My style number is 20S-AS1161B02875. I saw earlier pose that B02875 is lambskin. However, my SA told me it's goat. How do you know what leather it is?

I don’t have the code because the store removes the tags after the sale. The skin is shinier than the lambskin. Here is a picture.

Looks like your bag is Lambskin. And it’s a pretty one. Lambskin on the Chanel 19’s gets great reviews on YouTube. I am sure it’s lighter in weight, softer and nicer looking. And it will not scratch as the Chanel Lambskin on classic flaps. Yaayy!!!

I had the same thing happen to me from the NY Saks Chanel the SA told me he had a goatskin small black andd sent it overnight to me - when I got it it was a new 21B and when I called customer service I read them the BO # and they said it was lambskin. I have asked every SA I knowi in 5 different boutiques if the lambskin on the 19 is treated and they all told me no - it is regular lambskin not treated or coated and will scratch as easily as their other lambskin bags. Customer service confirmed this too.

Yeah...I think it's probably lambskin. All my Chanel bags are lambskin (I prefer lambskin on boy and classic...never really into caviar or calfskin) so I don't mind. But a goat 19 would be a nice addition to my collection!

I don't know if the lambskin on the 19 is treated...but it does look (shinier) and feel different (df texture) than the lambskin on my classic flap, boy and CC Filigree Vanity). Somehow the 19 lamb does feel more sturdy.

Maybe we both had the same SA lol

I returned the lambskin sent to me as it held its structure when I put some things in it but still would need an organizer keep it more upright but the lambskin was still smooth and soft so maybe each collection has different leathers?? For the price of a Chanel you would think the SA’s chanel employs would know their product! I usually have to have bags sent to me and want an SA to let me know eveything about the bag and certainly the leather.

Totally agree. This is the first time I have a Chanel bag sent to me (have always purchased from the boutiques).

So were you able to find another goatskin 19? I think all the new 19s are lambskin so I might as well just keep this one.

Good luck! Hope you do get a goatskin one!!

The lambskin doesn't bother me since all my Chanel are lamb. I am more bothered by that it's from 20S (29 series). But since the bag looks beautiful without any defect I can let that go. But next time I sure will ask the SA to give me info on the serial and style numbers (I'll probably get a more accurate info on the leather than from the SA)!

Aesthetically speaking the lambskin is nicer than goatskin. Goatskin is shinier and more plasticky looking imho. I just bought the 21B dark gray Small Chanel 19 in and I am psyched! It is so beautiful. I have not unboxed it yet because I will on a special occasion. I also purchased a Black Trendy CC in May and the 21A Chocolate Mini in July. I don’t want to loose the excitement of getting a new Chanel bag, and for this reason I am saving the unopened boxes under my bed.... for now.... I am on the Winter palette of colors so these past seasons have been irresistible for me... I will post pictures when I unbox the 21A Chocolate Mini and the 21B Dark Gray Small 19.

The leather on my 19 does look a bit more plasticky than my other lambskin bags...that's why I feel that it's treated.

Congrats on getting the dark gray small 19 and chocolate mini! Can't wait to see you share the pics! Your Chanel collection is so colorful compared to mine...I only have black (though with different colors of hardware and one is so black).
