1 Ct Diamond Studs Dilemma

It’s the buyers responsibility to check all the specs for sure. I wouldn’t say everything Tiffany sells is the best but IMO better than most.

For me it’s the love of the brand and peace of mind. Yes millions of options are out there that may be better but for me Tiffany holds the number 1 spot.

I don’t think anyone on this thread has eluded that when you buy Tiffany you get the best. I said for me it’s the best.

I have seen my fair share of diamonds from 47th street to brick and mortar shops. Some are nice but I would say Tiffany gives me the most confidence. There will always be Tiffany to stand behind the products I buy. For others that may not always be the case.

Your wife’s pieces are gorgeous and distinctly Tiffany. I still feel that diamond studs are a commodity. For your own comparison and, perhaps piece of mind, why not conduct your own comparison? Buy the best Tiffany studs and buy the most equivalent studs from Whiteflash or Brian Gavin and judge for yourself. Both Tiffany’s and Whiteflash give you 30 days to return. You will have done your due diligence and you will know beyond a doubt that you have made the right choice.

This is an investment. Would you buy a $30,000 car without test driving it?

If you go this route, don't get just the equivalent excellent cut, pick up the super ideals and see if you can see a difference. It will still cost less than the triple ex at Tiffany's. Brian Gavin and Whiteflash also have many more setting options. A lot of women don't like basket settings because they stick out far from the earlobe. Martinis are nice but there are also other options.

Thank you to everyone that chimed in. I really appreciate the time people took.

I took away some good advice and tips here.

However at the end of the day I went for these 1.03 each I VVS2 triple excellent.

I could have gotten a better color but the price was just jumping $10/20/30k.

At that price I don’t want to buy just studs. Sounds crazy I know.

For me these are incredible. At the store I was in natural lighting near the doors, diamond lights, overhead lights, etc. they just look like water. I’m sure the others do as well but again the discrepancy for the same specs from other jewelers wasn’t that crazy relative in this price range.

Went through a range of diamonds from D to J.

Took the specs and used the HCA calculator and it’s showing excellent on one and excellent and very good on the other.

I am going to surprise her with these and hopefully she just falls in love with them. I do have 30 days but don’t want to return them. These are something she can wear everyday and can pass down to our daughter.

I think there will always be a discussion on whether or not these big brands are worth the extra cost. Tiffany, Cartier, Harry Winston, etc.

I guess it comes down to preference. Tiffany won’t sell low quality, they stand behind their product and it gives me total confidence to purchase these and other items.

Thank you again everyone! IMG_0932.jpgIMG_0934.jpgIMG_0935.jpg

Congrats, the studs are beautiful. As to earring studs, not like ring better starting from H or G color, I color with VVS2 clarity for studs is sufficient. Most important, being a good customer of Tiffany, Tiffany store will treat you with the best accommodating service. Down the road, in case you or your wife want to upgrade the earring to larger diamond or better color..etc, you can just exchange with paying the difference at that time.

Love your story...love the earrings! Your wife is lucky and I'm sure she'll love her new studs! If I may make a suggestion. Sometimes the basket setting can droop a bit. If they tilt downward invest in "elephant" posts. Works wonders on most earrings. They come in any metal and I'm sure Tiffany can help you. I have 4 prong martini setting studs and I needed them. She may not need them but you have the info. Congratulations on a job well done!

Wow didn’t know that. Droop? That wouldn’t sit well with me. So the metal just bends? I will look into elephant posts. Have never heard of them. Thank you.

No...the metal doesn't bend, just the way studs can sit on the ear. Could be the setting or could be the way the ear was pierced...if that makes sense. Your wife probably won't need the backs but just in case, you know. She'll think you're a genius!

I have jumbo backs on mine. They keep the earring stable and they're easier to put on and comfortable too.

It is not the type of jewelry that defines what color you should get. It is the cut of the diamond. Super ideal round brilliant diamonds reflect back so much light that going down to a I/J/K is quite sufficient even for rings. There's a lot of misinformation out there about color. There are some other threads in the jewelry box where this is discussed.
