Tattoed Stars Make Their Mark
Tattoo parlors seem to be the new hotspots for todays' ink-loving celebrities.
Angelina Jolie's affinity for tattoos is just one of her many attention-grabbing characteristics. Among her many tattoos, past and present, are those representing former husbands Johnny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. The latitude and longitude of each of her four children's birthplace locations were added, in part to cover up Thornton's name, after their divorce. She also sports a Sanskrit prayer for son Maddox on her left shoulder.
Here, Jolie smiles while getting a tattoo of a tiger engraved on her back by Thai tattoo master Sompong Kanphai in Bangkok, July 2004. It was the second time that Jolie flew to Bangkok to get a tattoo.
British soccer star David Beckham hasn't been afraid to show off his ink -- he often rips off his shirt at games -- or talk about it. In his autobiography, "David Beckham: My Side," Beckham says his tattoos represent all the people in his life, including the names of his three boys on his back (overlooked by a guardian angel) and a Knight Templar on his right arm that represents the English national team.
A similar shoulder tattoo is just one of the reasons that "Transformers" hottie Megan Fox is being compared to Angelina Jolie. In a similar vertical fashion, Fox's main ink refers to a quote from Shakespeare's "King Lear": "We'll live, and pray, and sing, and tell old tales, and laugh at gilded butterflies." Additionally, the breakout actress has a star and crescent moon above her inner ankle and an image of Marilyn Monroe on her right forearm.
Every pirate should be expected to have a little, or a lot, of body decoration. Among the tats "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp has is one that reads "Winona Forever." The Hollywood bad boy was once in a relationship with Winona Ryder, his "Edward Scissorhands" co-star. It now reads "Wino Forever." A tattoo on his right forearm is often mistaken for representing "Pirates" character Capt. Jack Sparrow, but the sparrow actually refers to his son, Jack, whose name appears below the image.
Music heartthrob Justin Timberlake has undergone quite a transformation since his early days on "The Mickey Mouse Club" with his curly hair. Timberlake has a guardian angel on his back, a tribal band around his ankle, a Chinese symbol for music and his initials on his ankle. However, his most prominent tattoo is a cross on his left shoulder, which the pop star got while he was touring with 'NSync in 2001.
