My Plastic Surgery Experience with April 31

Dear JayKS

Good luck to you on your rhino journey. I encourage you to visit as many clinics as possible, so that you can have a chance to talk to the doctors, and gauge for yourself his bedside manner, his level of expertise etc. Give yourself at least 2-4 days if possible.

That said, many doctors may give off an air of confidence and capability, but their track record may suck. Hence, it's good to read up on reviews, eg, from this forum, real self.com, blogs, etc.

If you are not sure, you may choose not to undergo the rhino just yet. Seoul will always be around ( unless the top guy in north Korea decides to go crazy and push the red button). Wait until you have found the right doctor that you are most comfortable with, before committing to the procedure.

Hi QueenOfBlades,

Thank you for sharing your research and experience with us. I'm happy to hear that you're recovering well.

However, I cannot be more glad that you did not go with Pitangui. When I read that you'd consulted them as well, my heart skipped a beat. I did my primary rhinoplasty with them a year and half ago, which was not done properly, and I will be flying to Seoul tonight to begin a round of consultations for my secondary. I would never ever recommend Pitangui to anyone.

Regarding the part where Dr. Kim found the infected tissue around the implant; did your nose ever look slightly pink? Because my nose looks perpetually pink compared to the rest of my face, it's like the pink flush post a round of exercise.

Wishing you speedy recovery!

Dear Sweetfrock,

Actually, I felt and looked fine, and did not show any outward signs of infection at all. There was no pinkness or warmth after my primary rhinoplasty. It is possible that Dr Kim meant inflammation, instead of infection, but he did use the word 'infection'.

I am sorry that Pitangui did not do a good job for you. Do consult with as many rhino specialists as you can. List down all the traits that bother you, and ask the doctor what he can do to address each issue. Clear communication is key here.

Thanks for sharing! I'm also heading to April31 soon for a consultation, and they're top of my list right now. I'm not doing consultations with many clinics so I might just go with April31 if I'm satisfied right after the consultation.

Hope you have a speedy recovery! Is there anything you suggest that might speed up the healing process? I have to start work 2-3 weeks post-surgery.

Hi Queenofblades,

Have you noticed a positive difference from the lowering of the radix? I just had my primary rhino done 3 weeks ago with Dr. Suh of JW. At first I was happy with the results - he gave me a beautiful nose. But as the swelling went down, I realized the radix curve was a little high, giving me a nose bridge that started too high. It isn't harmonious with the rest of my face and also makes my eyes look closer together. I'm beginning to regret my rhino more and more and reading your review, I feel more concerned  I know I'm still recovering so I'm trying to be hopeful but I don't think time will change the height of my nose, which, while is beautiful, is not suitable for my face.

Thanks in advance for your response - do you have kakao where I can contact you? I'd be happy to send pictures to give you more background. Thanks!

Dear Missj93

I'm glad Dr Suh gave you a beautiful nose.

As for my present radix, I'm 2 weeks post op, so it is still too swollen for me to see an obvious difference after lowering of the radix. I still look like the characters in Avatar.

Regarding radix after my primary rhinoplasty, I actually did not notice the placement height until 9 months later. I was too caught up with how upturned my nose still was. Also, in photos, there was always something off about my nose bridge but I couldn't put my finger on it, until I realise it could be the radix.

Anyway, the radix wasn't a big issue with me, until I went for consultations for revision, and every single doctor except JW and MVP zoomed in on it. It was the first thing they mentioned when they examined my face. I did not even bring it up. They said it was too high and did not match my face.

I think radix placement depends on one's face, and your own preference. If one has very wide set eyes, a high radix may be carried off. It may even look good.

Right now, you are only 3 weeks post op, so you may still be swollen like me. So the radix may look high. My friends all thought i went for increased radix height, lol.

Give it about 3 months to deswell. I think 90% result can be seen by then.

Feel free to share your photos and thoughts with me. My kakao ID is: QOB24601

Hi QOB, thank you so much for your response. Yes, I'm definitely hoping that after some time and some more swelling goes down, I'll be happier with my result. Unfortunately, though my tip is quite swollen, my radix/bridge look pretty deswelled now and I'm pretty convinced this is close to the final result.

I know what you mean about something being off for your bridge! I was honestly in denial about my avatar-bridge height after I got my cast off. I told myself it was the swelling or I just needed to get used to it. But as I kept looking at my face, I realized that raising the height changed my entire facial proportion and "feel" of my face. It makes me sad and embarassed to admit but I think I made a mistake getting this procedure

I tried searching for your kk but didn't seem like it worked! Can you double-check the ID? Thanks again for your help!

Dear maplecandy

For faster healing, I suggest taking arnica tabs for swelling ( sinech is a good brand) and vitamin c. I also took vitamin B tabs and arcalion tabs to heal and regenerate the nerves. I also took any kind of antioxidants supplements that I could get my hands on.

After surgery, use ice packs frequently for the first few days, take walks instead of lying in bed too long, and sleep sitting up or at least at 45 degrees.

For rhinoplasty, I think you should deswell enough to go back to work after 2 weeks

Dear Missj93,

After getting a bridge implant, I too took some time to get used to my new face. I wasn't sure I liked it at first, but after 1 month, when some of the swelling subsided and the compliments started coming in, I started to like my new look better. It is better than my old face after all.

Give your face some time to settle in, and to deswell. You might be be feeling post op blues at the moment, and truthfully, I am feeling a bit of it too. So big hugs to you, and let's look forward to a beautiful result together.

If worse comes to worse and you still do not like your radix, there's always option for a revision:smile:

Hi QOB,

Thanks again for your great response  I really appreciate the support right now. I feel pressured to pretend like I love my new nose to my friends and family. After all, I spent so much time, money and effort on getting it, so it's difficult to explain to them about how conflicted I feel. And it's not a bad nose... but I just really think it doesn't look right on me. But I will try my hardest to remain positive. I hope you love your results and you're right, a revision is always an option if I still feel strongly about this in the future. Best of luck to you as well and hope you feel better soon  I'll contact you on kakao later tonight! My ID is missj93.

In the end, I decided on April 31 as I had the most confidence in Dr Kim Jae Hoon's ability, and I also felt that he sincerely wanted to make my nose better. I also decided to do fat grafting after seeing Kyu mi's amazing skin. Dr Kim was actually not available for surgery for 1 week, but last minute a patient cancelled an operation on Fri the 13th, so I took that slot instead. Brian explained that they do not want to stress the doctors out so they only allow them to perform 2-3 ops a day.

Why won't you doing at girin? your fat graft?

DearJainemarry0,

I did both fat grafting and revision rhinoplasty at April 31.

In the end, I did not choose Girin because I read 2 negative reviews on the rhinoplasty. One from real self.com and one on this forum.
