Paypal 2-factor authentication saved my butt!

Wow! When logging in to my bank, ebay, Paypal and other sites, it's a PITA to have to check my text messages or email for that access code but it saved my account from being hacked last night.

This morning, I found a text from PP with my security code, received at 2:50 am! It certainly wasn't me trying to log in at that hour and because I was sound asleep, they probably went looking for another victim!

Should I keep my large Quilted Affair?

Hi everyone! I purchased a pre-loved large black quilted affair in like-new condition almost 2 years ago and haven’t worn it. It’s beautiful but I guess I’m not sure if it’s trying too hard to be Chanel. Maybe there is another reason why I don’t reach for it but should I just let her go? Does anyone like and enjoy this bag? All feedback welcome! I don’t want to have seller’s remorse but I also hate holding onto things if I’m not using it. Thanks!

Help! Which Cartier piece to get next?

I currently have a Regular JUC bracelet, Small Clash bracelet and ring.

I initally wanted to get the Small Clash Earrings when I suddenly realized that the thin Love Bracelet is about $550 difference from the Small Clash Earrings.

I have an appointment tomorrow for the earrings and here I am suddenly panicking on which one to get.

Authentication website - thefashiondetective.com

Has anyone heard of The Fashion Detective?

Someone was looking for a Goyard authentication but the AT Goyard thread on TPF was closed due to not having any authenticators. So they asked on ebay and this site was recommended.

The person who recommended the site claims they come "highly recommended" however a Google search shows absolutely nothing. There's no positive or negative opinions at all.

The Fashion Detective - Luxury Appraisals and Authentication

https://www.thefashiondetective.com/
https://www.thefashiondetective.com/product/bag-authentication/

I did a whois lookup and they appear to be based out of Toronto but the ownership of the site is anonymous. It looks like they started in July, 2021.

Has anyone used them or do you have any other recommendations for Goyard authentications?

Disgraceful quality in Saint Laurent shoes

Couple of days ago I purchased malibu sneakers at the Saint Laurent boutique , the next day i took a closer look at the shoes and realized that I was sold a defective shoes with torn stitching. Under the insole, the seam is entirely torn. The hole inside the shoe, because of the seam that has come out, so big that I literally can put my finger in there.

Never expected such a poor quality from the SL brand.

The next day I brought back shoes to the boutique and requested for a refund as the sold to me item was obviously defective.

The person who handled my case in store DID NOT admit that the torn seam and hole inside the shoe is a defect!!! This is insane, he gave me some pokerface look and instead of saying sorry for that they sold me this crap he started to ask back silly questions like a) do I always remove insole on my brand new shoes ? b) how does torn seam and the hole affect the wearability of the shoes, because in his opinion it DOES NOT.

To me this is unacceptable treatment, service and the way how my case and request was handled is just BAD.

After me being persistent that the shoes are defective and should not be sold with this quality to the end customer, manager at the store created some repair request and told me to wait undefined amount of time. He said its December and a holiday period so he is not sure when I will get response from the company on my refund request.

Funny part that im travelling and purchase was made not in my home country, now they keep the shoes for inspection and if by the time of of my departure case wont be resolved I either have to leave with no shoes no money or ask to give me back this broken pair which im not gonna wear even if its given for free. Just unbelievable experience.
For those who consider new purchases carefully inspect evertyhgin you buy BEFORE you pay, unless you want to end up in arguments with the store that tells you that holes and torn seam is not a defect its a new norm fro SL!photo_1.jpgphoto_2.jpg

Mini bag obsession!

I have an absolute obsession with mini bags! They are so cute and of course if you can actually manage to get all of your stuff in them, it is way lighter. That of course, is the problem! I can't get my phone in any of them! Even lots of my older bags from the pre-cell phone days are too small to hold my phone and wallet now.

Am I totally nuts for thinking of getting the Z-flip just so it will fit in more bags? My daughter has the Z-flip 4 and I have the S22 Ultra, which is technically a better phone than the ZFlip (especially the camera), but her phone fits in all of her cute little handbags and I'm super jealous! If you can believe it, I'm actually toying with the idea of getting that phone just to fit in more bags! I probably won't though because it is technically a downgrade with a lot of the specs, but it sure is tempting because ... mini bags!

Can you all show me your mini bags so I can live vicariously through you??

Casette or Arco

Hi, need some advice here on which bag really suit me and my lifestyle.
Initially, I was attracted to Arco tote and had actually bought it. When I went back to hv an exchange, I try on the black cassette bag and somehow it just looks nice on me and happened that it match my outfit on that day. My husband also agreed that the cassette bag really stand out.
So I got the cassette instead.
So well now, I’m still in a dilemma cos I’m not sure how long the cassette bag can last me. I’m hitting the big 5 next year so I’m not sure if I can ‘carry’ it as the cassette bag do look trendy (you know what I mean) I’m afraid I hv to dress up to carry it and somehow the Arco seems more carefree for my lifestyle.
I’m a very cautious buyer and the bag it’s not cheap and therefore hope the bag can last me a long time.
Hope to hear your thoughts and anyone who own these bag to gave some pointers and their wear and tear.
Thks.

Please help me to decide on a black pair of evening shoes

Hi all,

I don’t have a huge collection of shoes as I like to get good quality rather than a load of cheaper pairs. I currently own only one pair of black evening court shoes and it’s the Saint Laurent boucle slingback pair that has a gold metal toe. They are gorgeous but I think they are very wintry/Christmassy and don’t work all year round. I’m looking for a slightly plainer pair but that still have a little something and could work all year round. I would wear them in the evening only, with dresses, skirts and tailored trousers. I would also want them to work for more casual nights with jeans.

The pairs I’m drawn to are:
Prada slingbacks with silver metal toe
Prada classic logos plaque slingbacks
Alaia Coeur patent shoes

At the moment I’m most drawn to the Alaias but don’t know if they look more wintry/Christmassy than the others and am also a bit concerned about them being a backless mule style. I have very narrow feet so I don’t know how secure they would be. Finally, I have concerns about the clear plastic straps turning yellow or discolouring over time. I have a clear plastic phone case that has done this! Also a strap on a watch when I was a kid!

Would love your thoughts on which to buy and if anyone has the Alaia shoes and can comment on how they are that would be so helpful. TIA.

Danny Masteron Judge Declares Mistrial After Hung Jury

Danny Masteron Judge Declares Mistrial After Hung Jury

Danny Masterson's rape trial has come to an end ... a judge has declared a mistrial after a hung jury.

Masterson was in a Los Angeles courtroom Wednesday waiting to hear a verdict, when the jury announced it deadlocked. The judge then declared a mistrial.

The jury began deliberations 2 weeks ago after 4 weeks of testimony from alleged victims. They had a break because of Thanksgiving, and two jurors were replaced on Monday with alternates after testing positive for COVID.

It's unclear if prosecutors will decide to try the actor again.

He was facing a maximum sentence of 45 to life behind bars if found guilty of the charges.

As we reported, Masterson was charged back in 2020 with 3 counts of rape, with the alleged victims claiming the incidents occurred between 2001 and 2003 ... right in the middle of the run of his sitcom, "That '70s Show."

Masterson's attorney, Tom Mesereau, told TMZ at the time ... "Mr. Masterson is innocent, and we’re confident that he will be exonerated when all the evidence finally comes to light and witnesses have the opportunity to testify."

The actor pled not guilty to the charges ... and while he never testified in his own defense, he and his legal team maintained that the incidents either didn't happen or were consensual.

Regrets

I had the opportunity to purchase a classic flap with ghw from Paris about 4-5 years ago and I didn’t because I had already spent a fair bit of money on other things. Fast forward to now and the price has doubled and I just cannot justify buying one at the current prices plus the guilt of not having bought it when I had the chance (from Paris!!!) I feel like if I purchased one now I would feel more guilt than happiness

Has anyone been in a similar situation and how did you get over the regret/guilt?

Which Cartier to Get Next?

Which Cartier piece should I add next: WG Love Cuff with one diamond OR Clash ring?

I currently own the YG Love cuff with one diamond, RG Small Clash bracelet, YG Regular JUC with diamonds, YG slim JUC, and YG Love Open Circle necklace.

Thoughts About the Clash Ring:
—Will match my Clash bracelet
—Looks like a good alternative to my VCA Signature Perlee ring
—Not sure if I should wait for the YG version which is apparently coming out next year
—Less expensive than the Cuff

Thoughts About the WG Love Cuff:
—Would be my only WG bracelet from Cartier or VCA
—Would stack with my YG Love but not sure if that looks odd in a predominantly YG stack
—Not sure if I will go down a WG rabbit hole as I don’t own that many WG pieces
—More expensive than the ring

Here are some pics of me modeling both. Thanks!

Help! Stitching is dirty after Love My Bags conditioner :(

I recently bought a vintage 1997 Babylone. The vachetta was very dry, so I conditioned it with "Love My Bags" conditioner and now my formerly gorgeous stitches are looking a bit grey with dirt. Any suggestions for how to clean them without damaging the vachetta? Baby wipes aren't doing anything. I was careful to avoid the stitching, but it's difficult to avoid it completely.

Help me chose a Chanel Mini bag

Hello everyone, I have been looking for a mini Chanel for a really long time and now I'm giving up on getting one in the store. Rather than a black one, I want to get a special one as I'm loving fun mini bags. I like blue, dark red and metallic colors. I can't decide though so I've chosen 3 different options. Which one would you pick?

1. Mini rectangular blue tweed
I don't own any tweed bags and love the color! Especially with the silver hardware.

2. Mini square gold with black hardware
Perfect for Christmas & NYE & would be cheaper for me because they are also based in the EU

3. Mini rectangular teal
I'm in love with the color and gold hardware but it's more expensive, esoecially because they are based in the US

So excited to hear which one you would chose! Or would you recommend another one?
This will be my Christmas present for myself so it's extra special. Thank you in advance!

Tiffany Bangle Repair: Experience and Price

Hello all,

I'd just like to share my experience with a Tiffany repair for their hinged bangle in rose gold. This bracelet is now currently discontinued just fyi (though I feel like they should have kept the design.)

1669826065570.png 1669826094022.png

Background: This was a relatively spontaneous purchase and if I had thought about it more, maybe I would have not purchased it, but oh well. There is a slight issue with the button on the clasp. Because it sticks out, if one were to press against it, it would open the bangle and it can fall off. It has happened to me before, but I didn't mind it too much and it was just something I was aware of whenever I wore it. Overtime, both the hinge and the clasp began to loosen. This was a piece I would take on and off before going to bed and going to take a shower so I could see it getting a bit loose over time. The clasp became so loose to the point that if I shook my arm a bit, it would unclasp halfway. I would just always push it back into place but I knew it needed to get fixed soon. And then at one point it just started falling off during daily activities and then I stopped wearing it for a while.

Later on this Forum I found out that I could send it in for not only a repair, but ask them to add on a Figure 8 Safety to the side. I believe this was thanks to @papertiger who mentioned it. I thought about it for a while. I was a bit concerned that the added on Figure 8 Safety would be a bit large and bulky and may stick out too much. At the end of the day, I didn't want it to see it sadly sitting there. I wanted to wear it and I brought it in.

1st visit - 02Nov2022
Tiffany at my location does have a tendency to make you wait for a while. Whether it is a repair or checking out after purchase, no idea why.
Anyway, I explained the issue and they said they would do 3 things:
1) tighten the hinge
2) fix the clasp
3) add on the Figure 8 safety
The cost of the repair and add on totaled to $275 USD flat. I agreed, they printed out a receipt and told me it should be done by 25Nov2022 and sent me a confirmation e-mail. (I did not have to pay then.)

2nd visit - 22Nov2022
I get an e-mail of 22Nov2022 stating that my bracelet was ready to be picked up! :loveeyes:Earlier than what was stated, but I was happy to get it before the crazy holiday shopping of black Friday and I came in to pay and pick up.
This time I was seated quite quickly, and they pulled out my bracelet.
And WOW! :eek:was it shiny haha. To be honest, I have never cleaned this bracelet or sent it in for a polish. It had accumulated many scratches to the point that the rose gold did not look like rose gold and more like a soft yellow gold. After the cleaning and polish it looked exactly like the day I bought it, in its beautiful rose gold color! I'm not sure how they did it, but they managed to polish out a couple of very deep scratches as well. It looked pristine!
The 2nd thing I noticed was the Figure 8 safety. It was not large or bulky at all! It was relatively small and nestled in right along the edge of the bangle.
I put it on and the hinge was no longer loose and the clasp clicked into place very securely.
I was satisfied with the repair, paid for it, and went on my day.

Overall, I was satisfied with my experience at the store and happy with the repair work + add Figure 8 safety that they did.
Price-wise, I don't really know what to expect tbh. When I first heard it, it felt a little pricey but not terribly expensive.

I will take photos and post them when I get home. (Already started wearing the bracelet again so there are probably some minor scratches on it haha. :P)

What goes with the GMOP vintage pendant?

I absolutely love my GMOP vintage Alhambra pendant. I am very fair and it looks more striking on my skin tone than the WMOP. It can look black, grey, green/pink and even blue in some lighting. However, I am a person who loves sets and I’m sad that I cannot purchase matching earrings or a bracelet. SO not an option and don’t like to go the secondhand route. I knew this when I purchased it, so does anyone have any ideas? What pairs well with this piece? I find myself wearing it ALL the time.

So far things that I’ve seen in person that I like but don’t love are:

Louis Vuitton GMOP/RG earrings. To me, Louis Vuitton is about bags/leather goods and it’s not a jewelry house. I’m not sure if it’s a classic, timeless piece that just isn’t all too popular or what. Am I going to wish I put that 3,000k+ toward another piece?
I don’t know much about Louis Vuitton jewelry, so if someone knows more or has experience please enlighten me!
I don’t feel this way about my Cartier or VCA purchases. It’s the same way I feel about Gucci fine jewelry if that makes sense?

Chopard happy hearts bangle in black Tahitian pearl. I tried it on at Saks and I liked it but again, same as above, I don’t know if this is a piece that’s classic and timeless.

I thought about getting a second set, vintage Alhambra matching earrings and pendant or sweet Alhambra matching earrings and pendant. It’s not off the table, but I’m trying to embrace minimalism and focus on growing my money/investing and just enjoying a small capsule collection so I’m not too keen on this option.

Thoughts?
