Help me: Onthego MM vs Montaigne BB Monogram?

Hello dears!
I need your help… it’s almost my birthday and I would like to treat myself with a new LV bag
My heart was set on the Onthego MM size but then I found a pre-loved Montaigne BB Monogram in excellent conditions.
They are completely different bags so it is becoming more and more difficult to choose!
I am leaning a little bit more towards the Montaigne since I have a Neverfull MM that is my go-to workhorse bag and I feel like the Onthego might be a bit too similar to the Neverfull..
on the other hand I prefer the look of the Montaigne BB and the fact that it could also be worn crossbody which is a plus but I am afraid it might be too small even just for everyday items…
Your two cents on my dilemma would be highly appreciated ☺️

Agonizing over whether to get the classic love again

Do I add the classic love to my pavé

  • Yes

Hi friends,

I had the classic love some time ago and made the mistake of polishing it - when the patina was gone, it no longer felt like mine, but it was something I got at 19 that I felt defined my younger days in a personal way. I ended up selling it and later had the 4 diamond and 10 diamond bracelets, which were great.

I sold those when I got the pavé. It didn't seem like they stacked well due to the difference in thickness, and with two non-pavé ones and the pavé one, it felt like two of them were "correct" and the other was an aberration.

I love my pavé and wear it almost every day, but I do miss the charm of the classic (no diamonds). I am trying to ascertain whether it makes sense for me to repurchase it. I would probably still wear the pavé with it much of the time (if not all of the time) and so I'm not sure if I'm going to achieve something that is going to make me happy or feel like I made a mistake. I've got a couple of photos of this and want opinions. I do imagine I'd keep the pavé up front.

Also - I wear a lot of pavé these days (three rings - love, clou & panthere) and the bracelet, so maybe this will "cut" it a little bit to make it less ostentatious ... and as I type that, I feel silly.

Which one should I keep and let go from my collection ?

Between this I must let go of one as I feel like it’s redundant. I am not to much of colourful purse kinda person and stick with neutrals. I was thinking of letting go of the classic flap WOC or the iridescent WOC.

Am I the only one who doesn’t use my Kelly 28 Sellier?

It’s taken me years to come to the conclusion that my first H bag is just not for me. A beautiful Kelly 28 Sellier noir Epsom ghw. Originally when my SA presented me with the bag, he said that I shouldn’t turn the offer down as it is a classic that many of his clients would kill for. It’s now 7 years later and I probably have only worn the bag 15 times. I find it boxy and difficult to wear. On the other hand, I have a Kelly 25 Sellier in etoupe Epsom phw that I find much easier to wear in comparison. However, more and more I am finding myself wishing for a Kelly 25 (or even 28) in retourne Togo. Has anyone else had a similar evolutionary journey with moving away from Sellier to Retourne? Now I am undecided if I should keep my first H bag as it is beautiful even though I don’t wear it much.

Need advice on the small cosmetic bag with chain

I'm being offered a beige caviar cosmetic bag with chain. It is super cute and measures 6" long. Want to weigh on the experts here as I've never bought such a mini bag except for the Kelly 20. I know that I can probably put a small CC wallet, a lipstick and a pack of tissue and have to hold my phone. It is expensive for a small bag for <$3K but the only thing I like is the length of the chain. I used to have a mini and the chain was too long for my short torso.

Mixed leather card holder inquiry

Does anyone have any feedback on this card holder?

https://uk.louisvuitton.com/eng-gb/products/pocket-organiser-crocodilien-mat-nvprod2800310v/N99696

It is no longer made. I really like the combo of leathers used, especially how they did the ostrich, eclipse and crocodile on the one side.

According to the website, it is a Pocket Organizer, which is incorrect. It is a card holder. How many pockets/slots does it have? Two - one center pocket and one outside slot? It sure is a looker, but how functional is it with just two card slots?

I Can’t Believe I Found this 2012 Nightingale

Recently came upon this on a consignment site - pristine, goat skin, medium olive green with tags and all. Never used. I know this bag might seem to old school for some, but I’ve always thought of the original Nightingale as a classic. (Yet, I’m still debating whether to keep it - lol). Would love your thoughts.

Replacement bag locks in uk.

I wonder if anyone could advise me? I’m looking to buy a Dior mini boston & some listings don’t come with the padlock & keys or just with one key. Does anyone happen to know of any sites in the uk or someplace else I could buy a replacement lock/keys that isn’t so expensive? The only ones I have seen have been on eBay USA going for a couple of hundred of pounds and then some! That’s not adding import duties on top. Do the locks & keys have numbers in like a LV lock & key? There is a bag I have seen but the date code is confusing me. PZ0301. 31st week, 2000? Is that right with a Dior bag? Tia.

Natural Calfskin Woes

Posted this in natural calf Clubhouse, thought I would mention here as well.

I am now the delighted owner of the small 16 bag in — you guessed it -- natural calf. This bag is a stunner, but it’s making me nervous. I’m not a pearl-clutching bag person. I don’t obsess over minor imperfect stitching or tiny flaws. I do take very good care of my bags, though.

I don’t mind the scratches. I have gotten a few tiny ones already and they buff out with a microfiber cloth for the most part. I don’t mind some “character”. I DO mind the stain (albeit small) I just got on the front of the bag from a small piece of cheese falling on it. That’s not going to come out.

Please talk me down, natural calf lovers! I didn’t think the finish (or lack thereof) on this bag would be an issue, but maybe it is. And I think someone here mentioned Hermes uses a similar-looking untreated leather on some of their bags….which blows my mind at that price point. This price point was bad enough!

Thank you in advance!

Matchy-matchy or mix it up - how much Hermès is too much for one outfit?

Inspired by some chat in another thread… how much Hermès is too much in one outfit? Do you like to match everything or mix it up?

Speaking for myself, I think more than two H items is too much in one outfit for me. So if I’m carrying an H bag I could add some H cashmere or maybe my Cape Cod double tour, but never H shoes as well. And actually, I think H bag and H shoes in the one outfit is always too much on me. If I’m wearing my Bouncing sneakers the H bag is replaced by something else, usually BV, Loewe or The Row. And two twillies are too many for me too! I don’t do H RTW but for those who do, do you fully accessorize with H?

Ballon Bleu Dial Help!

At first I definitely thought I wanted the Roman numeral dial, but now I’m wondering if the numerals look too large in the 33. I’m now considering the diamond marker dial. I will be getting a steel and rose gold. I’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

Another question: I saw on another thread that Cartier is now having the gold links for their steel and gold models extend all the way around the strap. Is this true?

Pics for reference: note I’m wearing an all steel that has the Roman numerals because they didn’t have the steel/rose gold with the numerals in stock.

Khaite Olivia bag reveal/review

Love the fairly minimalist design, and think that will help keep it from dating quickly. Even when hobo’s aren’t the biggest style, they are still around – at least where I live. The size is really good for me.

The leather is very nice. Shiny, not matte. Very smooth. The lining is some kind of fabric. There’s some structure to the bag – no collapsing into a puddle of leather. But maybe that will change with age/use. I can see this being an easy grab and go bag.

I got mine half off retail, and still find it on the expensive side for what you get. No way I’d pay full price. If it’s durable and holds up well, then cost per wear could make it a good deal. If it wears out quickly, then it’s a truly horrible deal. I used a fingernail (mine are long, and known to scratch bags) to scratch the underside of the handle, and no scratch at all; which makes me think it could be pretty durable.

Wouldn’t be able to wear this shoulder carry with a winter coat. I’d say better for arm or hand carry than shoulder carry.

What fits:
Phone
Sunglasses (or gloves)
Wallet
Keys
Comb
Lipstick
Compact
Small pill bottle

Sorry, but not comfortable doing mod shots.

I’ll update once I’ve carried it several times.

Maybe I’m not a Kelly girl? Or try again?

Hello! Long story but I’m going to try and summarize, lol. I’ve bought and sold a few Hermes bags over the last 8 years. My first H purchase was a gold Evelyne pm in Togo. Sold because the style did not work for me but loved the gold color. Next I purchased a Kelly 28 in Togo black GHW and then a Kelly 32 in gold with PHW. I also purchased and returned a roulis. So I then gave the Constance a chance and it didn’t work for me. During this time I was newly married and we moved across the country 3xs over this timeline and had 2 children. It was a stressful but exciting time and my mind was not on my bags. So when I was pregnant with my first (maybe crazy pregnancy hormones) I decided to sell my Kelly’s because I was not using them and they felt too mature. Pains me how little I paid for them to Vs now .

I’ve taken the last few years away from Hermes and have owned many many different brands and I’m back to Hermes again. Nothing can compete imo. Recently I added the 24/24 in 29cm and most recently I added a birkin 30cm. I’m now itching to add either a Kelly 28cm or another birkin 30. And I guess my question is should I stay away from Kelly given my history? Or give it another go? Anyone else sold and then years later repurchased and loved?

Logos are out. What does that mean for Hermes ?

With so much financial uncertainty and instability, which is only going to get worse, trends are already moving away from Logos and towards quiet luxury.

What do you all think this means for Hermes. In the last few years we all know the demand for Hermes goods has skyrocketed. Thanks to Chanel’s few massive price increases and the influencer/celebrity campaign by Hermes there are more customers than ever flocking to the boutiques.
I am just wondering will there be even more interest in H since they are a heritage brand that stands the test of time OR will consumers be put off by this ultra luxury brand (and their selling tactics) because of the financial situation the world is facing ?
