^^ I know, now that It was at my personal jeweler..Zales will simply state it wasn't them. I have only had this ring for bits and parts of August. As it came from FL, purchased on 7.29.11.

This makes my stomach churn! I have never bought anything there and now will no longer even set foot in that store. So sorry this happened!!

This is also why I posted this personal story~ I have been taken advantage of and have no recourse...how is that for Ms. Justice?
I want everyone to be aware of what happened in this situation.

That's terrible. Definitely speak to the Manager but also get the name of the Regional Manager (they have WAY more authority then the store Manager) and contact them directly. Make sure you have proof of everything. Save all receipts and any other documentation you can gather.

Back in the day I was the office manager at Bailey Banks and Biddle (they were part of Zales Corp), I know for that store the in house jeweler was a sub-contractor (meaning he did not really work for the company). Not sure if that's the case with the Zales store, but if it is they (Zales) might not even know he did that. I can't imagine ANY jewelry store doing something that fraudulent on purpose and if they are aware and let that happen, well then they need to be sued.

Good luck and I’m sorry about your ring

Thanks so much for your comments. The ring was sent out 2x and each time was a different jeweler. It was one of them and obviously they have a record of where they sent it. I do hope that some unfortunate soul did not get a fake CZ big diamond!

Don't even bother with the BBB. They called us wanting us to pay for a top rating. We've never had a complaint. Crooks. People can buy their high ratings.

If you can prove it, call your states Attorney General. Call the Federal Trade Commission. If Zales committed fraud its huge, since they are a national company.

OP this is horrible! Please pursue it. They can't do this. You haven't even had the ring long enough for them to fight this. Barely over a month and they have record of it being in shop twice? I would send a letter to corporate tomorrow!

The problem is that my lawyer thinks I cannot prove it. I am simply going to hope for them to pay for my repair/replacement of the small diamond. I will then do my duty as a citizen to whistle blow. I have done it before, I can and will do it again. I do not want them to ever touch anything of mine again. When I initially discussed this with the manager she stated I was to bring the ring in and not have my jeweler work on it. I told her absolutely not. I have not had my ring but maybe a week or 2 at the most throughout this whole process and I was having a new diamond put in and the ring fixed.

I probably will...I just want my ring back. I googled Zales and diamond fraud...lots of complaints. Check it out sometime. Very scary~

Thank you so much for bringing this to light. I will never ever step in to a Zales!! I hope your ring comes back the way you like it (and full of diamonds not CZ!!)

How awful, Ghost! I've never shopped there and will never set foot in that store!
Do you have a GIA report on the other stones in your ring? I'd wonder if that report would be accurate, too.

Long story short~ I broke my original 15 year old wedding band/set. It was not the same to me as it would have to be melted/changed etc... So, a month ago I purchased a fabulous wedding set from Zales. Love the the set, it was purchased on vacation and had to be sized/stone put in and shipped to my home area zales. When I received it my personal jeweler stated it was not set securely. I then had to take it back to zales and have it redone. I get it back, have it for a short week maybe and then I purchase a new diamond and my personal jeweler looks at it to re-size it smaller...

She noticed prongs broke down the shank and a chipped diamond which ends up being a CZ:nono:!!!
They must have broke one of my smaller diamonds and replaced it with a Fake and did not fix the damage my ring incurred.

Zales not only did not set my ring securely the 1st time but then proceeded to break/damage my ring while committing fraud.

I am in the process of discussing this with management and I am not sure how much $ to ask for in return for all the drama.

Sizing/diamond setting cost was $60
Shipping was $30

I now have to pay my jeweler to Fix all of this...I do not know the price on this as of yet. I am meeting with her this evening.

Any advice/help would be fab please~
I was thinking $200 ?? $300??

It is the one second from the bottom with a little pink on it, my jeweler marked it so she could take the pic etc.. the prongs are split/broke as well to the left.

An even better way to deal with consumer fraud/complaints/credit card company complaints, in my experience, is to contact your local county Dept. of Weights and Measures. It's a FREE (unlike BBB), little-known way to get consumer issues taken care of, and free of charge. I've used it several times. Each time, I submitted, in writing (you may be able to do this via email), my complaint. They just take care of dealign with the merchant, etc., and then, when it's resolved, send you a letter telling you so. They may need to contact you for more info, thoguh that's neever happened in my case. When they were finished with my case, I always sent them a thank-you letter--you don't need to, but it would be a nice touch.

I hope you get this resolved in your favor!

Dear, please update us. This is the horrible nightmare of me not wanting to take my jewelry fixed anywhere, sometimes I have my own doubts even from the place I got it from, your story is one of the reasons why. I was at a mall jewelry store with a friend and looking at their stuff and they offered to clean my ring, I said no thank you.

Oh, I had no idea about BBB wanting people paying for top rating. That's trouble right there in of it itself! How discouraging!

Again, I'm sure it's a local thing done by some crooks that work for Zales, and Zales is not aware of it. It'd be good to write to Regional, local and Central Zales.

It's not just Zales. I purchased a necklace at Macy's in 1995 and just scrapped it for the gold--half the stones were CZ's. It really seems like buyer beware these days.
