Zac Efron really managed to keep this one off the radar!
Efron completed a stint in rehab five months ago, according to E! News, and while a source tells the site that the 25-year-old actor is "healthy, happy and not drinking," TMZ reports that he was actually seeking treatment for "a serious cocaine addiction"!
The hunky star's alleged drug use got "out of control" during the filming of the upcoming comedy Neighbors, which was shot in May when the above photo (and these!) were taken. Apparently Zac "was a no-show on a number of days," and a source tells the site, "It was common knowledge he was struggling with cocaine." The website also reports that earlier this Zac "went on a coke rager" in a room at the SkyLofts at the MGM Grand in Vegas and caused nearly $50,000 in damage. What?! Troy Bolton would never!
When asked for a statement, Zac's publicist said, "Don't think we'll be making a comment."

Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... Zac has been doing cocaine for more than 2 years -- he was also into Molly. He tried to clean himself up in March by getting professional help. We're told he left California and stayed in a private residence where he received intensive outpatient care for several weeks.
In April he returned to L.A. and began shooting Seth Rogen's film "Neighbors." During the shoot Zac relapsed in a big way. TMZ broke the story ... Zac was not showing up on the set and it was common knowledge he was using again.
Our sources say after the film wrapped up he got a second dose of outpatient care.
As for how Zac plunged into the depths of coke, we're told there are 4 reasons:
-- Zac has significant issues with his parents, who are still trying to control his life and decision-making.
-- Zac is upset about his movie career, which was once white hot but after "High School Musical" he hasn't had real success.
-- Zac has "girl issues" ... although we're told it has nothing to do with his break-up with Vanessa Hudgens. That, our sources say, is ancient history for both.
-- Zac had been hanging around with "a bad group of friends" who introduced him to the world of cocaine. We're told Zac has 86'd most of them from his life in the last few months.

My daughter is a big ZE fan and was so sad when she heard the news. She said she couldn't picture him looking like an addict. I told her that addicts don't have a "common" look anymore.

According to the report, Efron - who was cast as Arroyo Grande in the Disney franchise at the tender age of 17 - was careful about keeping his antics under wraps.
Worse for wear: Efron looked like he'd enjoyed a few drinks in London, but he was rarely pictured partying and his alleged partying remained under wraps for years

On a 2010 trip to Vegas, when Efron was just out of his five year relationship with co-star Vanessa Hudgens, 24, he's alleged to have snorted cocaine with friends.
The source recounted: 'They were snorting coke and pulled an all nighter at the strip club, they went straight from the strip club to a pool party at like, noon.'

Efron is alleged to have beaten his demons finally after a second visit to a clinic was prompted by a relapse while shooting Seth Rogen comedy, Neighbours.
Happily, after two alleged stints in rehab, Efron - who was promoting his new film Parkland at the recent Toronto Film Festival - is sober and even avoiding alcohol.
On September 5th, the actor is said to have called it an early night in the Canadian city and according to a friend, 'looked good; he was doing really well.'

Zac Efron mysteriously ended up in a very bad area of downtown L.A. just after midnight Sunday ... and ended up getting violently socked in the mouth by a sketchy transient ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
We're told cops were on patrol under the Harbor Freeway when they saw Zac and a man he identified as his bodyguard. Cops saw Zac and the other guy in a full-blown melee with at least 3 other people.
After breaking up the fight, cops questioned Zac. He told them they had run out of gas and were sitting in the car. Zac said while waiting for a tow truck they threw a bottle out the window -- he never said what was in the bottle -- and it smashed on the pavement near a group of transients.
Zac said the transients confronted him and the bodyguard because they believed the pair hurled the bottle at them. Zac says 2 of the transients attacked the bodyguard and when Zac got out of the car to help, he got cold cocked in the mouth. Zac said, "It was the hardest I've ever been hit in my life."
You'll recall ... Zac mysteriously broke his jaw in November, saying he slipped on a pool of water in his home. Zac was in rehab twice last year for cocaine abuse.
The area where this occurred is rough. Cops are on high alert for drug deals and gangs. One source says Zac was "obviously intoxicated."
Law enforcement tells TMZ ... no one was arrested because they viewed it as "mutual combat."
We contacted Zac's rep ... so far no comment.

He's an addict. I also highly doubt he was with his bodyguard. Probably another addict and he is probably broke or near it.
