Thank you, etoile de mer. Ethereal is the perfect word to capture this weave. Yes, they are made in India. Jamdani is the name of a special weaving and embroidery process that's extremely difficult and coveted. I was thrilled when learning Hermès had produced some. While less ornate in the embroidery than I would like to own someday, its quality is stunning. In an era of machine man fabrics, I'm not sure the expertise of the woven elements is visible by many, but if understood, it can blow one away.

You might be interested to know that the Jamdani is from Year of India! It was a special set of pieces made, I'm imagining, to celebrate one of the most challenging weaving traditions.

It isn't meant to be anything like bandhani/shibori (the latter is the Japanese term, which is what Hermès uses, despite the work being done in India—perhaps because the Hindi term is so close to bandana). Bandhani is a tie-dye process. Jamdani is a weaving process. Very different.

Thank you, Pocketbook Pup. I wore it just yesterday and took a pic per your request.
Arabesques - you do have a good eye for what suits you and looks fabulous worn. I never would've guessed this simple beauty could shine so bright but now you have shown us the way! Congrats on your find and thanks for sharing with us.

Guilty Pleasures confession time.

Last year I saw this (particular scarf) on eBay and put it on my watch list. Over and over and over it didn't sell. Well, why should it have? The pictures were awful. And at the holidays it went on sale and ended again unsold and I so became mildly obsessed with this particular scarf because it was 1)interesting and 2)mousseline.

I passed up bidding on others of these even when prices were better (but they weren't mousseline) and finally gave myself a talking, and wrote the seller asking for better pics and for MT's opinion over in the AT thread. I also asked the seller if she'd take a best offer and she said yes. And was very nice about it.

It's not everyone's cup of tea. In fact, Mr BCat can't stand it because of the weird faces on it. I didn't have the heart to tell him that was one of its main endearments for me.

So here is my new to me, in super duper condition Smiles In Third Millenary scarf because I suppose an obsession with one particular item could also be considered a grail of sorts....

It's sooooo soft.....

Forgive the sloppy mod shot. I have NO makeup on (tried to crop that out!) as I am at home resting my shoulder which I injured a couple of weeks ago, then fell down and injured the same one... :crybaby:

I agree with you about the colors mimicking a sunset. And I love the dopey face too! I even think your "sloppy" draping shows the colors to their fullest. How wonderful you picked this one up!

Totally suits you! I like the purples against your skin tone. Your pic is so much better than the listing!

Hope your shoulder feels better soon.

Me to MYH! totally love it!

Thank you scarf1! I know! I figured when MT saw what I was asking her to work with, she'd need a stiff drink after! :D

I am in total agreement with you on that Balto Bag Lady! They just have such a quality to them!

Thank you eliwon! I believe it is from 2013. There was one on the Bay recently. I'll check for you...

And here she is! Taking Karnak out for her first spin today. I still feel like I don't know what I'm doing, moussie virgin that I am. But I think this looks nice. I've paired it with white jeans and my new purple velvet jacket. I welcome everyone's thoughts on combining these two textures. I'm liking the look, but am I making a mistake mixing summery chiffon with wintery velvet?

Ready for brunch at our favorite moules et frites place. Yum yum yum...

I've been going back and rereading several weeks of this thread and really enjoyed the lead up to this lovely scarf Pirula! It looks wonderful on you! (I have an Egypt fascination as well, not surprisingly, with Bastet.) 😎

Thank you. No I don't think it is fragile at all. The knots are removed after the dying process so it essentially is the same texture as any dip dye. Just a bit more elaborate in its coloration. I think it might perhaps be less tolerant of water because of the natural indigo dye.

Someone requested more photos so here are two more decent ones that I managed.

It's gorgeous PbP!

I remember you posting it on another thread QF. Would you PLEASE post them here, too;)

)

I am REALLY late with this and my atrociously sloppy wearing of this scarf probably won't help :p but here is my DH's Caducee Rock. We bought a second one yesterday in the black colorway, so CR is a BIG hit in this house!! Hopefully this gives you some idea....the prune is a bit more vibrant IRL.

QuelleFromage, my DH and I bought the same 2 you got! How funny! They were "for him", but I've already worn both more than he has [emoji29](oops). We both love them so much!

Haha so funny!! We have similar taste. I also really love the 100 cm size - it's a scarf. not a shawl, but lots to work with
I've just bought a prune bag, so the prune CW of Caducee is definitely mine now :D
