This is my one and only grail scarf and it was up and gone before I had a chance to bid on it! I was soooo upset. Sniff! I had checked ebay in the morning and when I checked back it had been and gone. It went cheaply enough that even with all my home renovations going on I could have afforded it. I have been very good about mh Hermes moratorium but could have done this one.

It was maddening to not even have a chance at it. Oh well. It is not an Hermes scarf but it is Wathne Polar Expeditions. I have been looking for 10 yrs and this is the only time I found it. I actually bought it in 1993 from Wathne and had to take it back because I was a poor student at the time and could not afford it.I regretted it ever since. Maybe someone out there has a lead on one. I think Wathne appeals to some of the same people that like Hermes.

My Hermes grail scarf was the Ledoux Sportsmen which has all the different equestrian activities. I now own two of them and I love them both.

However, I would say that my favorite Hermes scarf is Les Robes by Ledoux. It shows the different colors of the horses. It reminds me of the horse characters in Black Beauty. There is a black horse, a ginger horse and a pony which remind me of Black Beauty, Ginger and Merrylegs respectively. Horse lovers stop in their tracks when they see it. The one I use the most is either Cadre Noir with the black border or Mustangs which is great here in Colorado. I wore it to the National Stock Show in Denver and people drooled over it.

DQ, I saw that your equitation scarf went for beaucoup $$$$. Did you get it? I actually have seen that one now and then over the years on ebay so you WILL get one at some point. I will also get my Polar Expeditions. They might have to deliver it to me in the old folks home but it will be a sweet treasure when I do find it.

Birkincurious, I searched the forums and finally found you. The one person that can tell me if this is truly a Wathne. The rolled edges have seen a little life but the scarf is in great condition.

I think that, yes, it is real. I finally found the one I wanted. The silk is not as thick as Hermes but still good quality. If is has a tag, I think most of their scarves were made in Japan.

Thanks, the edges are a little worn but the Wathne name is on there twice and the texture is wonderful. Please post a pic of your scarf. I would love to see it.

Here's my grail scarf. Cheval Turc. Not sure if this is the original 1969 issue. I read somewhere that if there is a copyright sign under the Hermes-Paris on this design, then it is original issue. Mine does have that but most of the ones I saw on the internet when I was researching also have that.

I love this because the colors are incredibly beautiful and the vintage silk is incredibly soft. But also because I bought it secondhand for a song because it was covered stains. Which all washed out!!

One of my holy grails was the king tut scarf, which I randomly came across on eBay a few years back. I intended to buy it, but got caught up in other things and was unable to bid. As luck would have it I was on h.com last month and there it was...the king tut reprinted!! I ordered the black, which I love and consider blind luck. Now I'm eyeing the other color ways. Here is a mod pic, kinda.

If you are willing to go the reseller route I'd check some of the sites mentioned: eBay, malleries. Also beyond the rack has Hermes pretty frequently, I'd say a sale of Hermes items twice a month or more, but you have to be quick because they sell fast...although scarves tend to last a bit longer. I suggest you view the pictures closely and look at the quality grade it's been given some items are given steep discounts because of heavy wear and tear (I'm sure it's nothing the spa couldn't fix) while others are in mint condition.

You mean Folies du Ciel II? There are several original issues available on eBay now. There was one II a day or two ago - unworn, $520 - gone, not sure if ended or sold. I do happen to have II in pink and looooooooooooove it - a fave & always goes travelling w/me!
