Your first designer handbag?

My first was a small Bally vintage in a beautiful brown with typical red and white strap. Still use it almost daily! it just holds my BV purse, phone and sunglasses.
My second love is the YSL Mombasa which I also purchased secondhand. I love it but use it less - a sucker for comfort. Although it is nice that it holds an Ipad!

Now, I am dreaming of a nice, soft and roomy Mulberry Evelina hobo....

Well, I guess Louis Vuitton. It's about 5 years ago. I didn't buy it, it's a give from my uncle. The color is black with brown stripes and i love it till now, even i have a couple of handbags from others brand.

I don't remember which specific bag it was but it was definitely Prada. Prior to working their in the late 90s I never bought designer handbags although I did have quite a few Bally and Ferragamo shoes for the office.

Have I answered this yet? Strangely my first was also one of my most expensive ones. An 85th Anniversary Gucci velvet hobo with a bridle pattern on it. It's the one from the first season episode of Ugly Betty where they were fighting over who got the Gucci when they cleaned out the closet for the season. I just fell in love with it and that episode coincided closely with getting my bonus. From that moment, I've never been the same. It started an all-out addiction.

i totally agree! My first designer bag was a red leather Coach. I was 22. I don't have it anymore though. I gave it to my mom at some point and by now it's probably been given to Goodwill or Salvation Army. Gosh i wish i knew the style name!

Love this thread... My first designer bag was a coach swingpack with a hot rocking red... After that I graduated up and kept purchasing coach bags... Bigger and even purchased a $600 limited edition Coach that I've only ever seen one other person in real life have... Her's was a stone (white) color, and mine was the darker whiskey(brown) leather... Now, I'm on the hunt for my first Louis Vuitton!!!
