a year or so ago my DH took our 7 and 10 y/o kids to the beach, there he found a leather strap bracelet, when he picked it up, kids ran up to see what it was and both in one voice asked him: 'is it Bottega????? Take it to Mum!!'

...you pack an emergency handbag, instead of emergency clothes, in your carry-on luggage.
...you see someone put their handbag on any public floor (especially the restroom), and you must refrain from crying out loud, "For the love of G--, get your bag up off the floor!"

Oh man, the bag on the floor makes me want to scream!!

So true, I carry a weather resistant bag, in my bag, for my bag. Shamefully, I sometimes do the same with nice shoes. If my bag is large enough, I will pack flip flops to combat puddles. I live in Florida, so it is a common occurrence. The best invention I have found... Pier 1 makes an umbrella compact enough to fit in a sunglasses case.

wait...what? A teeny travel umbreall? Wow! Do you know the name of the umbrella as if like to get one.

...when you realise there's no hook on the back of the toilet cubical door so have to put the shoulder straps around your neck and wear your bag like a necklace while you pee rather than put it anywhere

...when you take your coat off to wrap up your bag in an impromptu rain shower to protect it and get wet yourself.

...when you wear gloves because it's ostrich/croc (and not because it's cold)
