You know where Coach purses are not appreciated?

You know, he didn't really try very hard to sell me anything or show me anything. He pointed out the new stuff for summer was on the back wall, but that's about it. The top I was wearing had some pink in it and he made a comment about the pink bags, but that's all. I went in to see the shoes and spent several minutes there and he didn't ask me what kind of shoe I wanted or if I wanted to try one on or anything. Other than dissing Coach and making small talk and insincere compliments, he didn't really try for the sale too hard.

Although, to be fair, I don't really like being the only customer in the Coach boutique either, because there's several SAs and they have little else to focus on besides you. I don't like being followed or stared at when I'm browsing. The man at The Grove was very nice though, showed me a couple things. I felt a bit bad that I didn't buy from him.

I almost went in the MK outlet last week carrying my big Coach bag of course. Now I'll be sure to pop in there next time to see what kind of customer service I get while carrying Coach.............:D

I went to the Coach outlet a few months ago carrying an MK. The SA at the front gave me a coupon and said "I see your nice handbag there, so you may be interested in our delete section" and she showed me where it was. I thought that was a nice gesture and an appropriate way to handle a customer with a non-Coach bag.

Im sorry this happened to you. I've never had a pleasant experience at MK, I usually shop MK online or at Macys for this reason. I find that their stores often have like 10 sales associates on the floor and each one makes it a point to ask if I need help and make small chit chat. I understand it's their job but it makes me feel uncomfortable when I just want to browse and I'm not looking for anything in particular.

+1

I had the opposite happen to me at the coach outlet. I was carrying a MK bag and the SA told me how much she loved it. (She even tried it on). I left with 3 coach bags that day!

Like I said before, any SA in any store has to be a first class fool not to compliment a potential customer on her taste. Since MK and Coach are roughly in the same price range, a person trying to make a sale (and that is all an SA's job is - certainly not to pass judgment on a someone's fashion sense) at an MK boutique, looking at a woman carrying a Coach bag should think "she likes nice handbags, she can afford one of ours, I think I should be really, really nice, and offer her some assistance." I mean, that is if the salesperson has half a brain.

My local MK store makes me a little uncomfortable. They always seem hyper in there. Plus they spray a lot of fragrance in there. It's always like a "scene" in there. Makes me slightly nervous. If they said something negative like that about any of my personal stuff I would flee!

Now there's a great sales strategy: make potential customers feel uncomfortable and want to flee. I mean we are not talking about Hermes, where "if you have to ask, you can't afford it." It's just Michael Kors.

That gives me an idea; I'm going into Hermes tomorrow! Safer than browsing in the Coach boutique, where I might actually be able to afford something.

Yes! And I really don't like their fragrance!

I can't stand when stores bathe every inch of their space in fragrance. I know they probably think it's a great way to promote their fragrance products, but some people are really sensitive to strong scents. I am a migraineur, so I risk spending the rest of the day in bed if I venture into one of those places. I can't even walk past Abercrombie & Fitch without feeling like I can't breathe.

I refuse to spend money at A&F, for various reasons…plus I'd need a lantern and earplugs to go in the store.

Totally agree about the fragrance!! Migraines for sure!!! Some people just don't get it!!!!

:lolots: I feel the same way about A&F. Why is it so dark in there? Why is there always loud dance music playing? Is it supposed to be a store or a night club? I feel like I should be led to the bar whenever I try to walk in there.
