Hi! I saw you said you used o blood and black to achieve the amarante colour. What exactly was the mixture, as in how much of each did you use, please?
I’m not op, but I have dyed lots of Vernis items (I’ve posted lots in the rescue thread i think). I didn’t mix the dyes, I alternated a layer of each dye to achieve the colour I wanted. I didn’t use oxblood, I used red. I then used a layer of black to darken it, then a layer of red, then a layer of black etc until it was the right colour (with a layer of acetone free nail polish remover in between each layer of dye.

Here are some of the pieces I’ve dyed.

wow! TFS. i love the two tone on the burgundy with the original pink. to clarify, you used the acetone remover after each coat dried? about how many coats of each did you use to get that gorgeous burgundy colour on the pouch? i love the vernis and to customise your own colour is such a wonderful idea.

I used fiebings leather dye, I’m in the uk and couldn’t get Angelus. I found the fiebings worked really well, I bought a few colours and they’ve all been good. I used acetone free nail polish remover first (I think this preps it to receive the colour?), then a layer of dye, polish remover again, then dye etc. As long as you use a layer of nail polish remover first, in between each layer of dye and then last (I think this ‘seals’ it), I’ve achieved great results. When I used the red or the blue, I used a layer of black dye (with the additional steps of nail polish remover in between!) to get the exact shade I wanted.
i can’t remember how many layers there were to get this Amarante type colour, but I warn you it can get messy and you have to be very careful to get it even as you’re putting the colour layers on. It takes a bit of care and patience, I wore latex gloves, laid out a few layers of bin/trash bags on my kitchen counter and used a lot of cotton wool pads!
Is there a specific piece you have in mind to dye? I’m exited to see your results!
