Thank you! I hate to admit but I totally agree with you. The Spring Street was a success but the Citadine made me question my own eyes ("can this really be the same bag?!"). Not sure if I'm going to keep the Spring Street but the Citadine will definitely be a forever bag for me. Not going to sell it even though I've already had offers.

The inside looks like this:

I dyed the zipper with a black textile marker from both sides. Somehow I managed to keep the inside spotless!
You really did a phenomenal job! Looks like it's been that way since day one.

This is ingenious! The heaven of stained vernis leather! Is the process and the dye you used for vernis the same as for empreinte? And what colour did you use for amarante?
Sorry for all the questions but you did an awesome job! Enjoy your lovely pieces!
I used maroon and black for the Spring Street and black for the Citadine. If you want to avoid unwanted undertones in Vernis I recommend dyeing light coloured pieces only.

The three-step-process I described earlier applies for both leather types. There isn't that much difference really. The dyes and even the brushes I used were the same kind.

I’m curious as to what tools you used (sponges, etc). Also, did the lay the bag flat, do that side, let dry, and then turn it over and do the other side? Or did you have it standing up and do the bottom last? Thanks!!

I am a huge fan of these types of threads because they inspire other members. So if you have the time could you do a step by step tutorial as I am sure many others would love to know so they can try to do it themselves. And please list products used.
I prepared the leather with pure acetone. Then dyed with Fiebing's Leather Dye and sealed with Fiebing's Leather Sheen. Also a random brand leather conditioner was used on Vernis to fix a streaky mess left behind by the Leather Sheen. The hardware was polished with a traditional stain remover/metal polisher (local brand). The zipper of the Citadine was dyed with a black textile marker.

I used sponge brushes and a small makeup brush (for the most critical parts). And a huge pile of rags for applying the acetone and wiping off excess dye between coats!

You need to do multiple coats and even more for Vernis. I just kept turning the bag around after a coat and started doing another side while the other one dried.

Hi! Will be attempting a vernis dye this weekend!
I wonder if I'll achieve the same colour as yours by using fiebing's oxblood and black?
