Year 2000s (00s decade) bags that we still love

Still, I find the Balenciaga moto bags iconic. I always enjoy seeing them in the wild. I got rid of mine, bar a couple of clutches, and now and then I keep thinking I should get a flat brass First…
Saw a new Moto in the flesh the other day. I get it…it’s not me but it IS s great bag. It does a nice job of straddling the line between enough and too much, which is why it is of its time but still relevant/classic.

Agree 100%. I usually stop and admire the Balenciaga bags in person. They’re so gorgeous. But if there’s any bag that isn’t ‘me’, it’s that one. So I’ve held myself back from getting it.

That aera had the best bags! I still kept mine from that time. My favourites are all Marc Jacobs, though, his own line and his LV creations.

1. Marc Jacobs Stam, Little Stam, Venetia, Multipocket, Dr. Q (was it named like that - it was fron the MBMJ line). I still have some from the initial icy leather line! So pretty!

2. Balenciaga City - you are all so right, it is just a classic!

3. Murakami Kollektion from LV - the Retro was the first luxury bag besides the MJ stam which caught my eye and fired up my interest in bags!

4. I actually also liked the older Rebecca Minkoff stuff which were unique, like the MAM etc. The newer ones are too similar to other designer brand collections…

5. I also used to love my Paraty - totally forgot about it… I need to take it out again.

I got ahold of a Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Mombasa. The shedded deer antler handle makes it such a unique bag. Purchased it for a great price on The Real Real. Going to drop it off at my handbag repair place to give it some well deserved love. It is such a cool design, and cannot wait for it to be delivered.
Please share a photo once you have it. <3

Loving this! I loved the handbags from the 2000’s. Me, it was Balenciaga’s. I saw Nicole Richie carrying a apple green city and I just had to have it. I went on a rampage, buying like 4 bags in one year. Also fell in love with LV cherry’s speedy bag. Was going to purchase one, however, my hubby said it was horrible and talked me out of it ( men, why did I listen to him!) Now I’m looking for a pre - loved one with no luck.

OK I received my Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Mombasa back from Rago Brothers. I hope the pic is decent. There is supposed to be a rugged look to the bag (hence the deer antler handle), but they did a magnificent job on the straps and overall. The straps were splitting into three paper thin layers previously. The bonding was non existent when I received the bag from The Real Real. Rago really has attention to detail. It came out perfect. They repaired both leather handle straps, and provided Edgecoat. They had to sew the layers back together. It's fun having a project, but this job was for professionals. I am very pleased.

Oh wow, I did not know it came back! I still have a little stam, 3 regular stams and the small stam which came later but looked like the regular one!
The little one was my favourite bag for years back then! It is darn heavy though.
