Year 2000s (00s decade) bags that we still love

I still have my Gerard Darel 24Hr bag. It was an IT bag for a brief time, and then strangely, the brand disappeared from the scene here. I kept her for nostalgia, but I should take her out of her dustbag and let her breathe.

That bag is absolutely gorgeous. I love the colour, the shape, the size... everything! 10/10! Don’t let it sit in your cupboard, take it out and wear it. I would.

I recently bought a vintage Gucci Jackie! I love it! And I also bought a stam bag. It is really big and heavy - especially if I compare it with my more current bags. But the quality is amazing. I still find the design so beautiful.
I agree with you on the quality of early 2000s Marc Jacobs bags. I have the large multi-pocket hobo. Fell in love with it after seeing it on the Devil Wears Prada. Purchased it from a consignment store. Still have it! The bag is heavy, hardware is actually metal, suede interior and made with a thick cut of leather.

If there is one bag I want to see reissued, it's the Stam bag. It's impractical, a bit loud (haha) but really so pretty.

Yes, the Stam is my 2000’s icon, the louder the better; big chunky chains and quilting. I bought all of mine pre-owned, in pristine condition. Here’s one of my favorites, the baby size.94FEE268-5760-4507-8457-AAE2489E28F2.jpeg Another bag I absolutely craved was the LV Vernis Alma in amarante, amethyst or another loud pink:amuse:. I never got one, though, and my ardor has cooled a bit but I still lurk on Fashionphile just in case. I’m mad that I missed the opportunity to purchase a new Alma in Rose Ballerine from the boutique, but I just couldn’t justify the cost.

As far as I'm concerned, this was the golden era of the IT bag.... Chloe was in its hey day and my fave designer by far back then. Actually just found a lovely black paddy in fairly good nick and a whiskey colour bay satchel... Picked up both from consignment for less than £200 in total ... I'm always on the look out for bags from Chloe from this era as they are so cheap to buy. Balenciaga another fave ... I always veered towards the motorcycle and giant hardware versions they don't make em like that anymore....

My speedy 35 is from 2007, bought new from th boutique. It’s my sentimental favorite that I adore and will never part with. I bought my LV Galliera in 2010 for my 50th bd present to myself. I absolutely love that bag. I love it so much that I just bought a 2009 Galliera in DA. I don’t care if it looks dated, I love the style.

I hate the non-functional hardware trend of the 00s which is so prevalent in I’d say every single it bag of the period. I am currently going though a no-hardware-bag phase, so I couldn’t find myself further from the era.

Still, I find the Balenciaga moto bags iconic. I always enjoy seeing them in the wild. I got rid of mine, bar a couple of clutches, and now and then I keep thinking I should get a flat brass First…
