i can answer that! and it was before working at coach because thanks to my lovely fashion teacher who told us to keep an 'eye' on Coach as it was blowing up majorly (this was almost two years ago and he was referring to past tense)

fashion these days are a very "instant" thing, and the cycles are getting shorter and if you notice, coach has updates every month

this is to satisfy the "newness" that fashion requires.

Coach did not blow up purely by itself, the handbag dept has been doing fantastic, almost 400% comp in some companies and what does Coach specialize in? handbags.

Coach has been able to have a "foundation" on being known for their leather and the quality, something that is the "tipping point" when customers are deciding between a Coach bag and another brand name, that and the price.

Thanks to the customers and the right design, timing and price, Coach is now known as a place for great bags, great price. honestly, if you see other designers they too have bags that are nice. but will they stand by their products as coach does? (tumi is the only other bag place i know..and they're mostly luggage...that offers life-time warranty of the bag)

and marketing! let's not forget the way a coach store looks, high end but not unapproachable IMO with a touch of modern with the furniture and the way the bags are merchandise

don't ever let anyone tell you if you're going to be a designer, that the way you place your clothes, bags, or item for sale does not matter. that the lighting, the wrinkles, the placement, all those little details do not matter because it has a lot to do with how the customer precieves the item.

also with the right customer service, another factor that Coach invests in along with the merchandising of the store and visuals.

all this plays into Coach's success as well as the fact that it's gearing the brand to be a 'lifestyle' brand. how else does a company like AF charge so much and still have great sales? it's the way they market themselves!

if you can have brand loyalty you can be very successful, esp. when the brand loyalty is with woman (avid shoppers) and the teen set.

Don't people who carry fakes realize that many of us, who wouldn't be caught dead with a fake, look down at them? I hate to say it, but when I see a fake Coach or any other fake, I roll my eyes and shake my head. I would never do that at any other time. Usually once they spot my real bag, they look away quickly, like they know that they can't fool me. I think that carrying a fake has the opposite effect that the wearer is hoping for. The only people they might impress are others who don't really know very much about handbags. I don't mind seeing others carrying a nice genuine Coach, we look at each other like we are in the same club.

What I find most amusing, is seeing someone carrying a fake LV, Coach even fake Dooney's and getting into a big rust-bucket 1985 Ford station wagon or something, it just helps them pull off the charade so well, LOL!

Even though Coach bags are becoming more mainstream, I think that handbags have become more interesting and fun in the last few years, more people (like me) are spoiling themselves lately because it is more fun than it used to be.

Coach is very popular Brand.. i went to my local holt renfrew and most ladys where using a coach or a burberry. or some ugly dollar store purse.
But Everyone needs a louis vuitton in there life!
