Would you wear your Love bracelets to Europe?

I commented a few years ago saying I generally felt safe in European capital cities wearing some jewelry if it wasn’t flashy enough. Not sure if things have gotten worse in actuality but I’ve heard more stories of friends/family being robbed on vacation since so now would be a little more cautious. A friend had a designer backpack stolen out of their car when thieves followed them from Barcelona to a gas station rest stop and broke into their car while one family member was still in the car (luckily my friend had taken the kids inside briefly so kids missed that chaos). That really made me feel unsafe, like the boldness and lengths they went through beyond a casual petty pickpocketing thing. :/ The local police told them car break in scams/distractions like that were getting more common.

Yes Singapore is one of the safest countries. No where else feels the same (to me). Someone here did a test some years ago : leaving mobile phones and some valuables on eateries table on a crowded lunchtime. Items were left untouched despite the heavy human traffic. But of course low crime doesn’t mean no crime. It was just a test to show my homeland can be that way.

I’m never with “heavy” jewelry, love bracelets included, when I’m out of Singapore. Even bags are low key. Just prefer to be carefree when vacationing especially I’ve got little kiddo on tow.

I leave all valuable jewelry and watches locked up at home or the safe deposit box at the bank when I travel. I am also very careful where I wear my jewelry in my local area.

Nothing will ruin your vacation faster than having your things stolen. I once had an expensive camera stolen in Mexico. My memories of the police station where I had to go to file my report (for insurance purposes) are seared in my brain. Five prisoners chained together were marched through the station screaming. Don’t need to see that kind of thing again! 🥴

My BIL and SIL were robbed of their watches and jewelry at knife-point getting out of their car parked across the street from their house in a posh part of London. London is an absolute no-go when it comes to jewelry, especially nice watches.

Only wear jewelry/watches that you do not care about (and which will not require a stressful trip to the police station and hours of time to file a report) in case you are robbed. It will make your vacation a lot less stressful.

Spain and Italy are dangerous. Have been traumatically raided in Madrid. The more northern the better. Definitely don't wear jewelry on your trip.
I am so sorry to hear it sounds scary!
I have only been to Monaco and France but I was wondering about going to Spain and Italy in the near future * fingers crossed*

I am planning to travel to Asia (Japan and South Korea ) for the first time with a friend!!

I live in Paris, and while I do tend to be more discreet with my watches and other jewellery, I never worried about my love bracelet. I don't even know how a love bracelet could even be stolen, since the whole concept is to be screwed in?

Just be mindful of and careful about your surroundings. If it gives you anxiety then maybe it's not the best idea to leave them at home so you can enjoy your holiday.

I think it’s not about how other human beings snatch the screwed on Love. But to keeping low profile when we are a tourist. All the gold and bling might be a little catchy for the thieves.

Regardless, it’s always good to be prudent and aware of our surroundings when traveling (have seen so many videos of tourists who are not wearing blings but still are easy target because they leave their bags rather exposed!).

Monaco is like Singapore or Dubai, it's not even like France, or Spain, or usa or Canada or Italy etc etc

I am going to Paris in a few months and my Cartier SA told me that I can keep my Cartier jewelry in my local boutique for cleaning/safekeeping until I am back from vacation. Has anyone used this service before? Do you recommend
? Thanks!
