would you buy it if the fur is missing on one side? i read on a thread that lv would not repair the fur and those bags are prone to the bald spots

I saw one like that on ebay. The fur can't be patched back and more fur will be lost thru rubbing with your clothes or whatever. However, I know someone who actually painted the bald patch back. surprisingly, it looks pretty ok.
This was a defect that my SA pointed out about the Stephen. She said that there were a lot of returns even up to years after the release. That is why the Savane etc... from this year's Spring Summer had that rug-like or terrycloth leopard trim instead of pony hair. LV did not want another repeat of this manufacturer flaw.
