would you buy a backup?

I am seriously trying to recover from my "saving it for good" disease. This was a condition I inherited from my mother, who was once letting my sister and I go through all her 'lovely things', as young girls are wont to do, when we came across some lingerie with tags on.
"Where did you get that?," we asked, because, really - mom and lingerie??
"Oh I got it at my bridal shower."
"Why are there still tags on?" we query
"I was saving it for good." was her matter of fact reply.
I remember looking at her and saying "I don't think it's going to get any better!"
Of course, what did I know, I think I was 11!

A quote from une femme d'un certain age http://www.unefemme.net/ blog: "There's no point in having nice things if you don't use them." That pretty much sums up my philosophy. I don't have a collector's temperament, though. If there's something around I can't use, it becomes clutter to me.

But lol at "I don't think it's going to get any better!"
