Worst Dior Lady fakes ever - still they sell for thousands!

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

I’m praying these are both legitimate 🤞🏼

Here is where you can request official TPF authentication. The first post of the thread and the sticky (top of the page) details the requirements for posting (usually the listing and specific pics) Because it’s a volunteer service, members are requested not to post too many requests and to wait patiently. Often, members advise not to purchase from certain resellers without authentication first (through photos). Although publicly posting a live listing might risk another person purchasing, it often saves someone from an expensive mistake.

You can read about resellers reputations here:

If you want to search for a particular reseller, it’s helpful to go to the brand forum, like Dior, and then type in a search, upper right corner, magnifying glass icon. But, there are the most posts on resellers in the Hermes subforum:

(I believe most of the thread consists of complaints)

ETA: another member @Yoshi1296 had to file a charge back with his credit card company to get TRR to refund. He wrote about his experience on this forum, but I could not find it. Nevertheless, he said once you file a chargeback, do not close it no matter what TRR says https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/to-keep-or-not-to-keep-that-is-the-question.1064134/page-2

They both have a different scent than leather.

the green one has more of a shine to them- both vintage before they had feet on the bases.
I am not an expert on Dior Lady, but I have seen dozens upon dozens over the years. Being a bag collector for 40 years and interested in the design, construction and workmanship of so called luxury bags I have of course checked them closely. Untill now I have had no interest in purchasing one because I have stayed clear of »it» bags and other easy recognizable designs. But lately I have been looking for a large one in crocodile or alligator. Preferably second hand, something that would be my first. And what I found is causing the tread.

I would say with 99.99% certainty that these two bags are fakes. If you look at my pictures of fakes you will notice that yours look the same. Also, Dior did not make an embossed croc version of the Lady. These fakes are constructed different from authentic bags. Non-cannage Lady leather bags have distinct seams where the front and back panels meet the sides. Also there are seams where the bottom panel meets the sides. These fakes are made «inside-out».

Another thing common for these fakes is missing accessories. At least the seven fakes I have attached pics of all miss charm protector (leather tab) and shoulder strap. Not by coincident, I think. Also the metal hardware for zipper and pull is slightly different not to speak about the shoddy workmanship in general. Looking at the bags you bought I would say they are from the same back yard manufacturer. You are right about the very first cannage Lady bags having no feet, but already by the spring of 1997 some had as shown on attached pics of Dianas alligator bag.

Your bags don’t look like being 25 years old. Also the hardware looks cheap with out of center fitted grommet (green bag) and out of line fitted grommet on the red bag. And your bags both lack the charm protector. Do they also lack straps?

Ooo I see what you mean. These came with straps and the card and care booklet from Dior believe it or not 🤔

Here a selection of fakes from the same seller. Some are listed as new, others as well used. Seller claim they are genuine crocodile, ostrich, python or lizard. Some come with a strap, but they all lack charm protector and they are constructed the same way so again I assume from same manufacturer. The price is $2500-3500. If they were authentic Dior this would be 50% lower than in the second hand market.

I take it for granted the way they are presented (genuine exotic skins when they are embossed leather), the number of assumingly expensive bags from one seller and the location (Far East) that it is a scam in one way or another. Again, Dior did not make embossed exotics versions of the Lady. In fact Dior over the years have made few embossed exotics. I know of the Saddle, Gaucho, 61, Diorissimo and a large tote only.

A member has (very friendly) informed me that I may be violating forum policy. I am sorry if so. By no means is my intention to authenticate (in the meaning of claiming a bag being authentic Dior), but simply to point a finger at fakes. This may legally be a form of reverse authentication, and I may not be authorized to do so due to being a newbie. I will be awaiting moderators view.

@MsFashi0nista Theres a thread on the dior forum titled 'all things about special order' in which one of the posters on the first page has a pink croc bag as a special order- it might be worth messaging her to see if she has any insight. I hope you figure it out and it ends up being good news 🤞

I have purchased a decent amount of couture clothing items from TRR with no issues (but all from brands I am able to confidently authenticate on my own) without any problems, but I have heard about fakes slipping through the cracks. Keep us posted!
