Women who do not carry purses

Like you, I carry a bag because I need to. Not always but usually.

Since it's a necessity I try to make it reflect my personality (or purse-onality).

I invest my time and energy into picking and caring for them because I need them to last a long time.

As you say, if someone doesn't need a bag then good for them, they obviously don't have to live my life :D
I have carried a purse since I was a little girl. I cannot imagine leaving home without my bag in which I put everything I need. Somebody here said it would be like being naked and that's exactly how I would feel. Naked, insecure.
On the other hand I love bags so much that I cannot not wear one...
I have read somewhere that women who hate carrying bags are people who are self centered: "There's only ME. I don't need anything else!"
OP, let them criticize.....Don't change anything!

I cannot really leave the house without my purse or tote, I feel sort of naked without it. And these days I prefer a larger bag even for a few items b/c there's always going to be something to buy, transport or hold in it for my kids.

While I have gone places where a purse isn't needed, I do need to make sure my keys, cell and wallet are secure within my coat pockets. I might as well have my bag with me.

Enjoy your bags and ignore what other people say. Life will always throw up plenty of party-poopers. I love carrying a good-looking bag and feel in control when it's the right size - not too big and not too small. I never carry the kitchen sink around but I do like to make sure I have my phone, wallet, tissues, keys, money, book, etc. That's not a Mary Poppins attitude to life, it's just being practical. Only yesterday I was delayed at a doc appointment and was so glad I had a book in my bag.

I have carried a purse since 6th grade, I think. I don't feel comfortable leaving the house without it. I never know what I'm going to need. When I carry a small purse and have to leave some stuff at home, it seems like I always end up needing the things I don't have. I don't carry a giant purse but I carry more now than I used to. Even if I only carried a phone and ID, I wouldn't feel comfortable putting things in my jeans pockets - they are very shallow and I'm too afraid things will fall out.

My daughter has to have a purse big enough for a water bottle.

My sister doesn't carry a purse at all.

There will always be people putting you down for one thing or another.

This is exactly why I carry a purse all the time - I once tried to use a bathroom in JFK and out of my back pocket and down the toilet went my iPhone! I learned my lesson for sure - now I hate carrying anything in my pocket - besides, it makes them so lumpy!

People love to talk about other people. If it can be done in a way that is humiliating, well, all the better! Why do they do it? I can tell you why I have done it, because I have done it; I'm sure everyone here has....anything to not focus on some issue about myself that I should be improving. Or when I was much younger, I thought it made me look better if I could make someone look less signifcant, somehow. "A Course in Miracles" is a great study, if anyone's up for some heavy reading.

there are some days when I go out and wont need a thing in my bag but I still LOVE to carry it its an accessory and I feel sometimes it completes an outfit. I also like knowing that when a nail gets chipped, I get a splinter, I have a wardrobe malfunction I know I have something in my bag to help. I have a wristlet that holds a nail file, nail clipper, tweezers bandaids, tiny bottle of super glue, and safety pin. Then I have my makeup bag with basics to freshen up and I also put my little pill case in it for my tylenol. I then have another pouch with lotion, hair clip, and hair spritz (very dry curly hair that gets extremely frizzy). A wristlet with pens and pencils and a little note pads. My wallet must go every where I never carry cash I tent to loose it lol. I live in FL shades are a must and go everywhere along with my cell. Now it is nice to have something that is adorable and can carry that and more because some days I will need different things. So to the ones who just carry their life in their back pocket cant be too prepared for lifes little mishaps and can only blame themself ;)

I try to use small purses but I get to the end of my street before I need something I don't have with me. Anytime I've ever put anything in a pocket I've lost it. Realistically the best I can do (to have everything I need) is about the size of an LV Speedy 25. I'm looking forward to the long-promised day of no cash and one card that does everything to at least eliminate the need for a wallet - but I'd still need a purse for my comb, lipstick, hand sanitizer, eReader, pen, wad of keys, sunglasses....

I hope those ladies who are not wearing purses (judgingly) ever ask me for any pain meds, feminine product, nail file, dental floss...

I think if I could get by without a purse, it would be nice, but its more important to have things on hand. It would ruin my day if I had a headache and nothing to do about it!

I choose my bag and footwear to complement whatever I am wearing. They are as much a part of my 'outfit' as the clothing.
Not to mention that I need corrective eyewear with me to avoid playing trombone with anything smaller that the second line on the eye chart.

Queen Elizabeth does not need to carry a purse. Yet she does.

Jackie Kennedy carried clutches to events at the White House while she was living there. Any possible thing she could have needed was just up the stairs, yet she chose to carry a small clutch.

Their example should encourage us to boldly carry purses where no woman has carried them before!
