My black Chanel tote bag for sure....my LV Montsouris backpack, pretty much all of my bags....I try not to buy the in thing...just for that reason! I want my girls to be able to go to my closet in 10 years, and be able to pick and choose!

love your chanel tote anne  whats the name of that bag and how much ...drrooolll

i only buy a bag if i can see myself carrying it 10 years from now.

that's why i only have one. hehe. :) yay for speedy. :)

in general i think chanel flaps in leathers, LV mono/damier/epi, and all hermes are all pretty timeless. can't go wrong with any of those. :)

I have already went through so many purse phases that I can promise you I won't be using any of my bags now. I should think about this and consider a good basic "forever" purse. But somehow I can't see me at 70 carrying a Kooba Marcelle...LOL I think I am buying too many trendy purses that don't have longevity. I think a Birkin would last forever, but I can't buy a purse that costs as much as a car!

You guys are great!!!!! I'm glad to see the MJ Blake on that list (it's #3 on my purchase list) and of course the LV mono line (speedy is #2 on my list).
No one thinks the Balenciagas will be around in 10 years??!!??

Doesn't anybody get tired of their old stuff and just want new?? I can't seem to avoid this. I want to keep using my bags, but I get bored!!! Help! I don't see using anything in 10 years.

That's my issue, but it doesn't bother me that I never use certain bags again.

I also don't look at handbags as an investment as some do (I can think of better ways to invest my money).

I believe I'll use my LV's for decades. These days I try to stick to bags that I know I'll use for years and stay away from the trendier bags, at least above a certain price point.

I'm just like you pseub. Before I make a purchase, I always picture myself carrying the bag when I"m old and wrinkly. If I can't see myself doing it, then I won't buy it :amuse:

Hopefully yea! So I wouldn't use a bag consecutively for the next 10 years, (I might skip a couple years here and there) but I'd still have it forsure to bring it out when they don't exist anymore.

This depends on how many bags you have and how often you use them. I.e. an everyday bag isn't going to look so hot after 10 years of daily use in my opinion - and I have seen some LVs that look pretty shoddy, I can only assume they're real and people don't want to give them up - maybe I'm wrong on LVs, I don't know. I have a Gucci that I've had since I was 13, and that was more than 10 years ago, but I don't use it everyday anymore and its coated canvas, I think with daily use it would have shown alot of wear by now.

I think that if you have to justify the purchase by thinking its going to last you 10 years its probably too expensive for your budget. Fashion changes, lifestyles change, and your taste is going to change. Evening bags tend to last longer because they get less and more gentle use, but they're the exception. When I look at an everyday bag I assume 1-2 years use, evening bags maybe 2-3 years. My only exception to this would be a Kelly or a Birkin that I would assume I could hand down and it would be worth the cost of maintaining the bag.
