^^^ I am not a fan of cropped jackets either and always wear a longer [looser] shirt with my [balenciaga and other] jackets (just like a pic below).

May I suggest you play around with the jacket, try different looks, etc. It took me a few days to warm up to mine (black on black one). You can always sell it (I have no doubt that you will be able to at least get your $$$ back if you decide to part with) but these jackets are hard to come by and if you let it go, you might regret it. On the other hand, if you don't absolutely love it (after spending this much!), I would say definitely let it go.

Sizing dilemma! Did I do the right thing? Please assure me. Or not... :-s

I bought a 2009 (I think?) jacket from a friend's coworker who sold it because she's buying a house, but I'm not sure I did the right thing because I'm worried about the size. It's a 42. I just couldn't resist, and from reading the posts here, I thought it'd be all right, but I'm having second thoughts as it's on its way to me.

I am bigger than I normally am (gotta start running again, haha). I am about 5'3" and a size 6, normally a 4, and pear-shaped. Because I'm out of shape, my arms are bigger than usual. When I do lose weight, I do notice it more on top right away than the bottom. I tried on a bunch of the jacket months ago, but sadly I couldn't remember which ones I tried on and how they looked. I should've taken notes. :noggin: I remember trying a couple on that felt tight in the upper back and in the upper arms - I felt like a linebacker! But since I don't remember which sizes they were, that doesn't help. If it's any help, I wear a medium in S.W.O.R.D.

Guesses as to whether the 42 will look all right on me? I don't like super cropped leather jackets. I love the way it looks on Freja here, how it kind of has that "sucked in, curve into itself" fit. Does that even make sense? :amuse: I'm obviously no model, though. :D I don't plan on layering or zipping it up. I'd like to wear it unzipped with a thin T-shirt mostly. My torso's on the longer side, I have short legs, and a small chest. Haha.

I'm worried because I can't return it, and what if it doesn't sell if I eBay it? It's by far my most expensive piece of clothing, so it's making me anxious. But the jacket is so gorgeous that I just bit the bullet.

Thanks!

Just to be clear, you don't have the jacket yet, correct?
It sounds like you are worried about it being too small? I definitely do not think that a 42 will be too small on you! If you are a size 4/6, I would think a 40 would be perfect. A 42 may be roomy, but you may like it that way?

If you don't have it yet, my advice is to not worry, wait till you get it, and take it from there. You won't have trouble selling it if need be!

Good luck and keep us posted :D

Purseluv- I honestly think the 42 will be great, especially in the 2009 leather which is a little tighter fitting from my experience and what a lot of people have said on this thread. My 2010 is a 42 and I love it. I think I could wear a 40 in the 2010 fine, but in the 2009 the 40 was too small (I really felt the tightness in my arms). I am a US 4/6 and 5' 1''. I am excited to see how you look in the jacket! I understand you are feeling worried but everything will be OK. :hugs:

Yup, I don't have the jacket yet. I'm worried about it being too small...the price might have something to do with my worry. :-s Thanks a lot, guys, for putting me at ease. :D I'll keep you guys posted.

I just have to post to let the Moto ladies no about this! Remember when the rivet came off my less than 6 week old 2010 Black Moto jacket? Yeah, that was back in March. Well I wrote to Balenciaga and called them (no response) as well as contacting DF who took care of it as we know by REPLACING the entire jacket.

Yesterday I get this email from Balenciaga (my original email to them with picture and a complete description of the jacket including year and color was dated March 6, 2010!):

Dear Customer,

We thank you for your interest in Balenciaga.

Following your email, we apologize for the delay in responding to your request.

In regards to your inquiry, we would like to confirm the type of metal used for the rivet. Could you kindly confirm it is a brass rivet you are missing and not a silver one ?

In addition, could you kindly provide us with your delivery address in order for us to send the spare part to you ?

Kindly note that BALENCIAGA is not responsible for any damage that may occur to your product, provided you intend to fix this issue yourself.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for further inquiries.

Best regards,

Balenciaga

Yeah, I would say it was a "delayed" response. :lolots: Anyway, I wrote back and told them it was a brass rivet and asked them to go ahead and send it so I can have a spare one anyway. Their service is just not good. There, I've said it!

^^ Departement Feminin- it's a store in France that many ladies here were able to buy jackets from. The customer service there is known for being great!

The website is Departementfeminin.com...they've got beautiful things!

Patti, How funny! In the amount of time it took Bal to simply respond, you've long since had a brand new jacket from DF! It really makes you appreciate the DF service.

Just wanted to say thinks for your comments on my jacket to Pokus and H_addict! :D

purseluv, be sure to post pics when you get your jacket, I agree with the others and do not think it will be too small!
Also, you should not have a hard time selling it if it does not fit, so do not worry!;)

I hadn't checked in a while, but just realized that there are lots of sizes and colors on the bal website.

Just to be clear, we've confirmed that there is the "Camel" color thats up there, but also a darker more reddish brown, right?

They like to be confusing! I just looked and I think the one called camel is the same color that BALNY called moutarde and that may also have been called tan elsewhere. There is also a "muscade," which is a darker, but not super dark, more reddish brown. It helps to see them together to tell the difference.

It is confusing! I think I want the muscade not the moutarde/camel, but I am not sure. Looking at the picture on the website, the camel looks great, but other pictures I have seen are not as pleasing IMO of course.
