Why do you love jewelry?

This is exactly what I do. Creating imaginary wishlist. I think 1stdibs have the best selection for highend and unique jewelry among other reseller websites. And one of a kind bags!

I mean, I also love fashion (1stdibs also has a splending collection of vintage designer dresses!), but if presented with the option to spend a few thousands on a high end bag or on some bling I'll go with the bling. I don't know what it is, since I turned 30 I have such a need for security...I wonder if it stems from my grandma having to flee her home during the last days of WW2 as a young teenager because I sure have never had an experience that would warrant that. I can always stuff a handful of jewelry in my coat pocket and go if need be (not that there will be the need, I live in safe Middle Europe!).

1stdibs for sure has an amazing collection not only of vintage pieces but new & emerging designers who work in very high-karat gold and truly amazing artistry! Unfortunately, it has been my experience that while Jewelry is definitely more valuable than a handbag or designer clothing, oftentimes .. you never get its retail value .. you end up taking a loss.

True! That said I have a few pieces that have definitely gone up in value with gold prices being on a new high daily as it seems.

What I have found, is that for sure .. Gold keeps on going up (horrible for someone like me who uses high-karat gold in my jewelry), but again .. I have found that unless the plan is to re-use the gold, you won't get what you paid for the item. Sadly, Designer Jewelry (which I used to buy quite a bit from - especially Barneys in its heyday), definitely does not keep its value. When I need to utilize another person (casting, stone-setting) for my pieces, I oftentimes "pay" them in gold!

I can imagine! I want to have a Middle Eastern piece made that requires around 20 gold coins which I was planning to acquire over time (because 400 bucks here and there are not as painful as 8000 at once...and if I lose interest in the piece on the way gold coins aren't a bad investment) and there's a stark difference from prices early 2019 to now.

A question I've never asked my self. All I know is I love jewelleries. That's all. But now that got me thinking, why do I love jewelleries?

First of all, jewelleries are fun. They add more factor to your physical appearance especially when you mix and match them up and put them all together nicely. Personally for me, it says a lot about my mood depending on what and how many do I put. It's also one of many ways I express myself artistically. And it's FASHION. Though I'm not so fashionable when it comes to dressing up but I am when it comes to all things nice and sparkly. ^-^
