I love jewelry. It’s probably my favorite thing to buy, and I always admire it on others. I love to see jewelry IRL, on Pinterest, videos, TPF... I’ve always loved jewelry and I think I’ll always do.
One of my best friends wears nothing except earrings (and I think she wears those because of societal pressure), doesn't care for jewelry at all, and thinks she looks just as good with or without jewelry. I sometimes wish I was like her and not spend money on it ;)
Why do you love jewelry? Is it because you “decorate” yourself with it? Love the meaning behind your pieces? Love it as works of art? Why do you buy jewelry, something so small yet so expensive?

I love how it adds that finishing touch / IT Factor to an outfit.

One of my favorite outfits is black shoes, jeans, and a black shirt. Boring... But add the right jewelry... Suddenly not so boring. Same with a basic Little Black Dress.

That something so small can add so much to an outfit, and be just as expressive of personal style as clothes...

Plus, a lot of jewelry is absolutely beautiful!

I’ve always loved jewelry. It’s one of those personal things where you develop your own look & style. I have a few staple pcs I wear every day (engagement ring, thumb ring, eden bracelet, watch) and the rest is fun to change up depending on mood & outfit. My bracelet & thumb ring never come off even in the shower. I take my ering off showering, dishes, etc.

I’ve always loved earrings and choose a pair to compliment my outfit of the day. Same with right hand rings... and necklaces.

The minimum I usually have on are my staples & a pair or earrings. I’m glad I bought most of my gold/platinum pcs years ago before prices started skyrocketing. I buy a lot of fun jewelry to mix in now - Swarovski, Touchstone crystal (also a Swarovski brand). I also love antique jewelry. My mom passed some to me which I love.

The things I’ve purchased myself hold memories of where in life I was when they were purchased. The ones received as gifts also hold memories so I like the sentiment too.

I feel naked with no jewelry on. I think it’s beautiful & fun!

Wow, what a great question. I could write a book. So for me I’ve always loved jewelry. I believe jewelry satisfies a basic human need for adornment and expression. I also believe we are naturally attracted to shiny, glittering beautiful things. So if we can attach those colorful and scintillating objects to our body, it elevates us to some degree. Everyone needs to wear clothes but jewelry is a little something extra.
It also, of course, broadcasts social stature and economic status. That is undeniable and has a long history.
However, for me, I truly love perfectly crafted jewels. For example, my only pair of diamond studs are only .80 ctw. However they are perfectly colorless and the clarity is stellar. Those characteristics are the most important part for me rather than size.
Similarly, I love antique jewelry and antique cut stones for their rarity and specialness. An Art Deco OEC cut diamond always fascinates me because it was cut by hand according to the cutters’ sense of light passing through it, not by a laser machine according to a mathematical formula of how light behaves. I find that compelling. I love how each diamond has its own “personality” be it Diva-esque, quietly glowing, brilliantly happy, dancing, subtle and smokey etc.
I also love how the more I learn about gems, the more it seems I need to learn.
Finally (and I warned I could write a book) I simply like wearing jewelry. When your feeling blue, there is nothing better than to look down and have your right hand cornflower blue sapphire wink back up at you and silently whisper only to you “you got this girl”.

I love it because I wear mostly plain
clothing and jewelry completes the look. I have always loved accessorizing. It’s like make up for me (I’m simple in the makeup department). I can not leave the house without earrings.

I pretty much only wear costume jewelry because I like switching things up as trends evolve and just don’t care to spend that much only fine jewelry aside from a few basics.

I have loved jewelry since I was a child. Now I appreciate very fine quality in jewelry and diamonds and gemstones. I made a major paradigm shift when I learned 14 years ago about the importance of diamond cut in the beauty of diamonds. That combined with finding gifted custom jewelry makers greatly helped me purchase heirloom quality pieces that I'll gradually give to my daughters and little granddaughters. I have a few designer pieces of fine jewelry such as Tiffany and VCA (and a Cartier watch), so I am more into that right now. I try to only buy classic pieces that will stand the test of time. Ironically, I don't wear a lot of jewelry on a daily basis other than the basics. Jewelry is a hobby for me, so I expect I'll be browsing and collecting as long as I can! (I buy contemporary designer handbags because I prefer spending extra money on jewelry more than very high end bags!)

I love jewelry because for me jewelry tells a Storey from ever stage of my life. Remember when DH use to buy a piece when each of our children were born. Their birth stone so I love wearing it and sometimes some of the pieces like the ones passed down from my grand mother reminds me of her. I love how jewelry can pick up an outfit and make me feel good. I have also bought jewelry from some countries we have lived like Tanzanite it’s a rare stone only found in Tanzania in Africa. Thank you .

I have a very basic/conservative clothing style with neutral colors, to me jewelry is a subtle form of luxury. I love everything from the craftsmanship, the materials, the artistry and the history of a piece. I especially love the fact that I'm the only one who knows what I have on, the quality of a stone or purity of metal, it's luxury without being ostentatious. Most of my pieces have been chosen carefully and have stories behind them, I always get jewelry to mark important events. It also is something I have admired on my mother and my grand mother since I was very little, something that has been passed down to me and that I hope to pass on to the next generation.

It's kind of like a tattoo, albeit removable. You can have a bit of self-expression that you carry with you effortlessly. It's also fun to look at!

Science says humans like sparkly things because it looks like water. And that the thirstier we are, the more we appreciate sparkly things. Maybe we're all just very thirsty. :P

That's the way I look at jewelry: like a tattoo only better. I've always loved jewelry but I don't know why. When I was a little kid I would accompany my mom to church jumble sales and always dash to the costume jewelry table to scoop things up. I always felt guilty about my obsessive love of jewelry. It seemed so frivolous in comparison to all the important pursuits of life. But as I grew older I realized it's a form of self-love, and also a way of giving yourself happiness and joy. And maybe a way of brightening the world a little bit too. So I don't feel guilty about it anymore.

This makes an awful lot of sense! We humans also love the sparkle of stars in the sky maybe because it reminds us of lights in houses welcoming us in the cold night. And maybe that's why we love diamonds and other sparkly things.

I just have to add that I have also thought if jewelry as a removable tattoo.
Also, i tried very hard when I was in my 20-30’s to ignore my love of jewelry. I tried to convince myself it was unimportant. Now I’m actually considering doing something in the indus(just don’t know what yet!) and that makes me super happy.
PS-I’m going to try drinking a liter of water and then stepping into Tiffany’s....I will report back.....:giggle:

I've always loved jewelry and I think it's because growing up my mom used to always give us jewelry as gifts for special occasion. She loved jewelry and at a young age, my 2 sisters and I have heard about clarity, colour, cut and carat  She always used to tell us, don't buy the fancy costume jewelry as they are expensive but do not retain their value (I know that can be a debate for some designer costume jewelry) so I guess I've kept that mentality.
My sisters and I have kept our love for jewelry and we all get together, my mom and the 3 of us (which does not happen all too often as we live in different continents), jewelry is always an interesting topic for us and jewelry shopping is always an activity we all get excited about.
It's funny, when I forget to wear jewelry, I feel like something's missing. It's become part of my outfit.
My favourite are fancy coloured diamonds (pink diamonds in particular). And I love stacking bracelets since I was 12-13 years old. It's always been my thing lol.

I dont really care about my clothes or shoes. Heck I can go in rags but I like wearing a nice ring, bracelet and watch.especially rings. My husband always tells me that Im a leprechaun for always getting attracted to sparkly things lol. I wore rings since I was in grade school and cant stop loving them.
